      The best part of DIrty Mind, to me is the fact that all of what we hear was recorded to be the demo, but Prince and Warner Bros. liked how it sounded so they put it out, as is. It's a testament to Prince's raw talent as a musician/producer/etc., as it takes skill (and record company money) to make home studio recordings sound album quality IN 1980.

    There's one song off of the "Dirty Mind" album that NOBODY has reacted to, which is a shame since it has one of the most irresistible grooves.
    That song is "Do it all night" which Prince's old band the Revolution actually brought back into their set list, which absolutely delighted the fans.

  • @mikecaetano
    @mikecaetano Před 3 lety +25

    Heh, yeah, so spicy the uproar led him to title his next album "Controversy"! But his early work was always "oversexed" as it were, "I Wanna Be Your Lover" -- with a chorus including the line "I wanna be the only one that makes you come, running". Take note that back when these songs dropped, Prince was marketed as the bad boy opposite to Michael Jackson. It led to a competitive rivalry between them.
    On an unrelated note, Jayy, I just wanted to say that two weeks back during one of your live chats, I responded to your effort to make the bat wings on your hair band flap around by bobbing your head by dropping the word "headbanger" into the comments. You seemed a bit shocked and confused by that and I wasn't sure if that was the cause or not, but rest assured that word has nothing to do with the content described in thie Prince song. A "headbanger" is the term we used to use back in the day to describe a metal head, ie., a fan of heavy metal. And "headbanging" is the gerund describing the way heavy metal fans furiously bob their heads during a concert -- as if they were banging their heads against a wall. So that was what came to my mind watching you try to make those bat wings flap. Incidentally, one of the longest running music programs on MTV was called "Headbangers Ball" -- Here's a 40 minute documentary on the show: czcams.com/video/k3uwHKA-3gQ/video.html

    • @lauraveney1412
      @lauraveney1412 Před 3 lety

      @@xXTheoLinuxXx There were no free tickets given out during the PR tour. The tickets were the normal price for concert tickets back then. He did do free shows at Galludet and I believe some tickets were given to Make A Wish foundation. Later for the Jam Of The Year tour, he asked that people bring can foods and coats as donations. I believe he did a few can food drives during PR but It was not for free tickets. Of course, you had radio promotions but that was it. PR tour was after the Victory Tour was underway so I do not see how they were competing. Tickets for the Victory Tour were jacked up because Al Sharpton forced the Jacksons to have a lottery system to make sure the urban poor had a chance to get a ticket. This song lets you know everything about us GenXers. I was 10 when this song came out. Do you think our parents cared that we listened to this? Not even a little bit. Lol

    Prince said when you're 20 you go to the ledge just to see if it's there. That's why some of his earlier music was very sexual, but he was too so....💖

    The look on her face was so funny 😂 Her look reminded me of a church woman, who for first time has ever heard the raunchy lyrics to this song.

    Prince is one of the all-time greats. This is a good song but I'm rather surprised that it was chosen as your first reaction to him. I would've expected one of his more classic songs like "1999", "Little Red Corvette", "Purple Rain", When Doves Cry", Let's Go Crazy", or "Raspberry Beret". I hope you get to react to some of those.

    I subscribed based on the sheer look on your face and expressions . Imagine being a teenager hearing this electric spicy music . During that time Mr.Nelson was pushing the envelope with funk and new wave . Imagine one man doing all the voices and music so cutting edge . I’ve never stopped listening and won’t never stop!!!! O(+>
