i love that you put a diversity of body types and races in the example photos, it's so often that people applaud an outfit that a skinny white woman wears, but forget that there are so many more beautiful people who also have such creative, beautiful senses of style < 3

As someone who works at renaissance faires for a living, that "medievalcore" style tends to be a huge part of my wardrobe on a daily basis. It's been interesting to see it be trendy for once!
I’ve noticed Laini Oark and Alexa Sunshine83 talking about red’s trendiness lately, too, and I’m here for it. My Korean grandma gave me this eastern Asian style jacket that’s reversible! One side is black, one side is red, and both sides have gold floral embroidery and pockets! Definitely one of my favorite pieces that I will rock regardless of if red is popular or not.
for the funky manicures: the “cat eye nails” are made with magnetic nail polish!! they have metal particles in them that you glide a magnet over to make them look super sparkly :)
I think the pics in the vid were aurora nails which i believe are made by encapsulating iridescent paper within a thick layer of gel
When I was in 4/5 grade I remember when these magnetic nail polishes were a huge trend.
As someone who works as a hiking guide I love the gorpcore vibe. My own personal style isn’t very gorpcore but I love wearing long skirts with hiking shoes and just incorporating outdoorsy items into more whimsical outfits.
Also it’s never too early to talk about fall.
I think Simone Rocha had a big influence on red becoming so popular paired with neutral outfits. Her fashion hits the Zeitgeist of current fashion trends/cores and trickles down into many different aesthetics (cottage/ballerina/frilly/deinty etc).
I'm so happy that red is getting the recognition it deserves!! It was and still is my go to colour for little details in my fits.

Yes, red is making a comeback. Also I've recently heard the term "Blockette" for your #4. I've always liked pairing contrasts in my outfits: leather/lace, pearls/spikes, masc/fem. Now there seems to be a term for it.

Ive been in a cool fashion predicament where i experiment w dressing more modest in spite of the hot weather so lots of big shirt big pant combos, very roomy and breezy, with head coverings and chonky accessories. I love this format where u review more personal trends! Its so refreshing when there's so many trends around :)

The nails you showed look like they used builder gel (the clear gel used to "build' nails in a lot of editorial/instagram nail art). The ones at 8:55 look like the gel is on top of polishes that have a fine shimmer that gives a flash effect.

Something I started doing back in the winter is writing down what were trends for me, personally. I wanted to unpack how marketing/social media/peer pressure was subconsciously influencing me because I am very critical of that when it comes to the way people interact with trends that have a negative impact on people (bullying, exclusion, beauty standards) and the planet (overconsumption, pollution, Shein), but I recognize the influence of those things can get to everyone. People (maybe just online but anyhow) get mad I've noticed sometimes if you say something like 'don't worry about trends, wear what you like!' as if we're accusing them of being mindless consumers - but I think that sentiment comes from the best intentions and that people do need to be reflective of themselves. So to me it's important to just be thoughtful and aware of it. And I think just writing stuff out makes people aware of themselves more. But for me I also wanted to look at how other things I like or have always been influenced by also play a role in what trends I am drawn to that are 'greater world' trends or ones I make up for myself (which is more fun, people should do this more.). I basically just add to it whenever I feel like I am drawn to certain items or styles I am seeing or different ways I've started styling my wardrobe. One thing that I've really unpacked is my love affair with preppiness (mostly of the more fun and playful and colorful y2k mall girl and southern varieties, though in the fall it gets an academia grungey slant and has forever) and how that I feel when I wear such styles, I am automatically kind of subverting (I'm the girl who hated abercrombie in high school, but I do love the quality of their 2000s clothes now.). Which I think is just interesting to analyze.
Sorry for going off on a long tangent on a video that's just some cute looks you like ultimately...but I was inspired by how you said 'what's trending in my world' in the title and I like that angle.

I just recently gotten into sewing, and finished making this oversized blouse made of seersucker. Black and white pinstripes with embroidered skull and crossbones. Giving really big "pirate on a casual day out" vibe. Got to wear it yesterday, and I absolutely love it! I was told seersucker is a very breathable fabric, which is great because I overheat easily during the summer. Gonna look into updating my summer wardrobe with this type of fabric for next year.
Also, I have a big floppy straw hat with one side pinned with two enamel pins. I've gotten so many compliments over it, which is great, but I'm not even doing it for looks. I just have a health condition that makes me sensitive to sunlight. 😂

I love gorpcore! I’ve been going on a few camping trips recently and having so much fun with rain jackets, cargo pants, beanies, and sunglasses. It’s so satisfying to be warm and dry and STYLISH. (In Winter rn)

It’s interesting to see that hiking and sports clothes are being incorporated in different ways. I don’t own clothing specifically for sport or hiking I just wear the same casual clothes for everything so I wonder if people are wanting more versatility from clothes rather than them being relegated to one specific use. Like being able to do all your daily activities in a single outfit rather than taking changes of clothes with you?

I can't wait for autumn! The weather in the Netherlands has been absolutely awful (as in, rainy & windy), but it's still too hot to whip out my sweater vests so my autumn outfit itch can't be satisfied and it makes me feel stuck lol. As for medieval fashion, I stubbornly believe it's because of the release of Final Fantasy XVI, which is set in a medieval world. I don't think their target audience is the fashion people... but oh well, at least it made ME want to thrift leather corsets and tall lace-up boots 😀
