  • PHASE 2/PHASE TOO/FÁSE 2 was an all around innovator in the development of 'writing' in New York City, the aesthetic process that included drawing, signing, painting, most prominently with aerosol spray cans. Through mass media, 'writing' became known as 'graffiti', what PHASE 2 called the 'g' word, which he saw as derogatory. This interview was conducted by Ivor Miller in the process of writing Aerosol Kingdom: Subway Painters of New York City (University Press of Mississippi, 2002).
New York City (University Press of Mississippi, 2002).

    R.I.P. Phase 2, Lonny Wood ( Michael Lawrence Marrow 1955-2019 N.Y. ).
The Father of style and the king of the writers.
"Phase 2 created the now-iconic bubble style and the Broadway Elegenat style of aerosol writing . A relentless innovator, Phase 2 also pioneered many other techniques seen in graffiti before 1980, including interlocking type, arrow-tipped letters, and the use of icons like spikes, eyes, and stars."
Art director of IGT ( International Graffiti Times ), one of the first writer magazine in newspaper format.
DJ and early b-boy and innovator of breaking dance.
Former ( with Michael Holman ) of the pioneering break dance crew, The New York City Breakers.
"He was the first person to use the term hip hop on a flyer. His promotional flyers and posters for artists like Kool Herc and Grand Master Flash are proof of his influential legacy that formed the visual language of the music industry the past four decades. "
    True Legend & Real Pioneer!
    Rest in Heaven

Your comment is straight-up insulting. I'm going to assume it wasn't intentional.
You obviously don't know the man or his Legend.

@@katrostorm3075 I like comments that try to say a lot but don’t actually say anything. This is also quite insulting. If you can talk about specifics, let's see if we can learn from it. Otherwise, this is just another arrogant post, even if you didn't mean it.

@@rpsridechannel7227 if this Legend read your comment he would rip you a new one. You read a couple articles after he died and cut and pasted them. If he was alive he will have a serious problem with your post.

@@katrostorm3075 Bottom line: yes, it comes from several articles I’ve read, so not from me. So if this legend were still alive, he could complain to the authors of the articles, but not to the reader. Again, you were only able to repeat yourself without facts. For me this dialogue it's just waste of time.

@@rpsridechannel7227 I get it you're just a parrot repeating what you heard. Real men speak from what they know. I believe if you knew better you would probably do better. You've insulted that man without even knowing it... learn to speak from your heart and not what you read. I believe you unintentionally are very disrespectful.
