  • Phase created bubble letters and soon added arrows. These innovations quickly led to what became known as "Wild Style," a term coined by Tracy 168. Phase created styles for other writers who were less creative. He was supposed to have a major role in "Beat Street" but was left on the cutting room floor. Sadly, Phase passed away on December 12, 2019, at age 64 from Lou Gehrig's disease. Phase was also supposed to do the cover for my book "Hip Hop." It was unfortunate that few people in the media industries could deal with him or even comprehend his work, which is why art directors preferred to make fake graffiti murals for book covers and for use inside early hip hop films. The real stuff was so much better.

Thanks you remembering "PHASE 2" my brother and friend Lonnie Marrow. People can't and shouldn't talk about 50yrs. of Hip Hop & exclude Lonnie Marrow contributions. People who are around today know his artwork and his name..

Granted that some people were too young & were not around to know the history that's where others are suppose to teach the history. Especially when it comes to the subject of tagging in the world of Graffiti

Also are there any deleted scenes, especially from the Roxy Bboy battle.? That would be awesome. One luv. ❤
