  • We upgraded our car and one of the biggest things we were looking for was how well it will work with our outdoor lifestyle, especially when going camping. We decided to do a little first impressions review to tell you about all the things that we like and don't like, how much it cost to buy, and our general thoughts about it.
    We are planning on doing another full review in the near future so please send us all your questions, and tell us what you think is the best camping car for you and why! We'd love to know.

      May be to start with a tow bar, then a trailer or even better a caravan? (for me a fishing boat is a must...)

    • @PitchAndPaws
      @PitchAndPaws  Před 3 lety

      A tow bar is a good suggestion. I think they are not too expensive and look like they are not too difficult to install either!
      We would absolutely love to try out a trailer tent and maybe even rent a caravan but I don’t think that’s the style of camping that suits us the best. If you get a fishing boat we’ll come tow it for you!! 😂😂👍🏼

      @@PitchAndPaws I fitted a Witter detachable towbar to my Freelander 2, very simple took me about an hour by myself. I bought the electrics kit separate from right connections. That required just routing into the boot and 2 plugs clicking together

    • @PitchAndPaws
      @PitchAndPaws  Před 3 lety

      That’s good to hear. I’ve seen a couple of tutorials on CZcams on how to do that and it doesn’t look too complicated but I’m too scared to try it myself. An hour is pretty good!

      @codenamenel Před 3 lety +1

      @@PitchAndPaws it's only like 5 bolts and a couple of nuts, you don't even need to take the bumper off. You pop the left hand side red reflector off, drill a couple of holes in it so you can access 2 nuts behind, then put it all in place and fix with 3 nuts and bolts in one side and 2 in the other. They have to be tightened VERY tight though, I felt like I'd done 100 sit ups the next day from straining to tighten them while lying down

    Great review. Have had my 2008 FL2SE for a couple of years now and hands down the best all-round car I’ve ever had. Great cruiser, easy to work on although oil changes are a little challenging, and with a decent set of all terrain tyres is brilliant off road. The last proper feeling Landy 👍

      Hahahahahahahhahahaha!!!!!! The cassette player comment had me laughing 😂😂😂😂 I didn’t even mentioned the best part about that stereo. It was made by Grundig!
      Yeah, it’ll be interesting to see how it goes with repairs. It’s had a few already and I’m taking it back in again tomorrow but thankfully so far it’s been alright.
      I’ve heard of some other BF Goodrich tyres but not the KO2s. I’ll look into them and have them ready for next time, I’ve replaced all 4 in the summer already because they were all worn from the previous owner and all the miles we had done travelling from one end of the country to the other.

    Hi I'm new to your channel. I've had land rovers for years and use them for towing. I'm on my 2nd Freelander and find them brilliant. Something I do is with having a large dog who stays in the back is I lift up the back seats bases and use that space like for the awning and poles or anything else.

    Great review, I personally have a 2001 FL1STW and its a great car, except the fact that I live in finland and the steering wheel is on the left side, but the hoods opening lever is still on the right. Also since it is V6 3liters, it is horrible changing the spark plugs.

  • @letmeoffthisplanet6208
    @letmeoffthisplanet6208 Před 3 lety +2

    I went for a series 1 td4,yes landies have issues but they've been the usual parts across all makes,clutch,fuel pump/filter,rear drums and shoes,a few bushes,drop links,cv boots,tyres and servicing.....So yes as you can see after nearly four years of having it i'd say they cost you,not bad though for an 05 reg on nearly 190000 miles.
    The main reason people have issues and slam landy is their own failures in not looking after it in the first place.

    • @PitchAndPaws
      @PitchAndPaws  Před 3 lety

      Yes, I can imagine you’re right. One thing I’ve been doing with mine is keeping on top of any maintenance that needs doing and so far it’s been quite good. It still costs a lot more to run and maintain than a regular hatchback but then again it’s a much nicer car than a regular car.

    What about the "sleep space" with rear seats folded? Can the seats be removed easy? Are they completely flat? Maybe a video would be nice, if you have the time, of course. Probably it's interesting for a lot of guys out there who are looking for a off roader with camper conversion. Good choice anyway, on the Freelander 2, I am also considering it. Also good job on the weight loss, keep it up! :D

    • @PitchAndPaws
      @PitchAndPaws  Před 3 lety +2

      I tried laying down with the back seats folded and for me (180cm) the space is a tiny bit short. However if you could make a small platform you could end up gaining enough space to be able to sleep in there. I could sleep easily with my legs bent though. Plenty of room for that but how comfortable would that be….

      I had a look at the new Discovery Sport the other day and I know what you mean. The backs seats can recline but on the Freelander 2 they’re completely fixed. You can only just drop the backs to make the load space bigger. It would have been so much easier if they could recline.
