A 720deg awning to get you out of the rain when getting ready for a ride and camping and a reverse or upside down hitch to get the bike rack up higher for better departure angles when off road would help. Also get a good lock to attach bikes to the rack as the bike rack ones tend to be forced open easier. Cant wait for the build, nothing better than parking in the forrest and camping near the trails.
They develop well known (read the Freelander 2 forum) fairly major faults from around 85,000 miles. We had one for years and it was one of the best cars we had owned. General Grabber tyres transformed the drive and handling.
Congratulations Kara! And your progress on the bike has been so amazing and exciting! I’ve been watching your videos from the beginning and it’s lovely seeing how much fun you’re having and how you challenge yourself. You’re definitely an inspiration😊
congrats...but I still can't help still giggle thinking how long I have been watching and learning how to ride from you basically...from camera person to getting winded when you lived at Sams...so funny....congrats!
Wow very cool Kara very nice car it’s great to see you enjoy driving your car off road is well like me and getting out there exploring and camping. I’m so excited to see your car finished. Definitely go a Roof top tent on top of your Land Rover. You should go a fridge in the back and some drawers is well. For putting camping gear etc in them.
Sorry haven't been on youtube or a long while, Boy girl you have come on leaps and bounds, brilliant jumps. Love the land rover as well. That bike rack looks cool, I have Thule, but the bikes rub together.
Hey Kara, really love your videos and it is nice to see that you are getting way better over time. I just started MTBing myself so I can really relate. I'm also planning in converting a small van or a car into a little camper for roadtrips in europe so I'm very curious on how you are going to do it. I also need a bikerack and definitely considering a XLC now! I want to say something. Maybe you and Tom were already thinking about this but I think this camper build is a good oppertunity to generate views because you can ''lure'' a bigger public outside of MTBing. Offcourse you are a MTB channel and you have to have that twist in the vids because your loyal viewers like to see that. But also think about a bigger public in making these vids. Camper builds are really popular on CZcams. Keep up the good work!
Brilliant cars. If they're looked after and maintained, they don't have too many issues! Absolutely love the bike rack as well! I'll definitely be grabbing one of those at some point.
There the worst landrovers you can buy everybodys getting rid of them cheap on autotrader n gumtree 😂 plus ive worked for landrover the best are the old defenders
Looking forward to the car project but we really need to see a side by side comparison of your first forays into mtb compared to what and how your riding now. I think it would even blow YOUR mind Kara.
Love the car buts what your opinion on the old landrover defender 110 my dad has one and me and my dad take it to go mtb and we can fit the bikes inside stacked vertically with tons of space
Guess everyone has their own experience with vehicles and the general idea is the Freelanders are unreliable, however we have two within close family for years and many many miles, with very few problems, rear diff and subframe on the oldest and only an egr fault on newer one. O and the door actuator on nearside rear (very common)
That looks like a great little project Kara. Have fun with the set up. Just remember the monster truck kit might be a little expensive so keep it modest. 😎👍
Wild that this is your dream car. I wouldn't really say a Freelander 2 is a Land Rover in spirit. Freelanders aren't too good offroad - I had one and wouldn't recommend it. Especially with how unreliable they are.
You bought the worst landrover ever id of sold you my vw t25 csmper for 5k with a bed n sink n cooker inside.your going to have nothing but problems with that plus there crap on fuel aswell
monty i think it's time to give it a rest slagging off freelanders ,many people have covered huge millage in these vehicles and i am one off them so stick to your VW and shut up.
Awesome video. I drove an FL2 for the first time on Sunday in a quarry. It’s an awesome vehicle
CZcams algorithm was bang on. I have an LR2 (North American name for Freelander 2), and I MTB too. Cool to see a channel that matches me so well!

Well deserved Kara, the car is awesome and your progress on the bike is inspirational ✌️❤️
It was my dream car, too, actually. I bought one and still love it.

Congrats Kara!
Thanks!
Nice car and the bike carrier is awesome!
Thanks!
The bike trucks are amazing... congrats in ur new car 💐
Brilliant cars. If they're looked after and maintained, they don't have too many issues! Absolutely love the bike rack as well! I'll definitely be grabbing one of those at some point.
Don’t have any issues? You need AA van following you everywhere lol

Disagree. TD Engines are solid. Only major common issue was with rear diff pinion. When we’ll maintained these cars are great for their age!
Well done Kara 👌 You’ll get plenty of use and enjoyment out of that 👍
Hey Kara, nice video and congrats on the amazing Landy , I also have a freelander 2 and converted it into a camper !
Happy to see that.
Looking forward to the car project but we really need to see a side by side comparison of your first forays into mtb compared to what and how your riding now. I think it would even blow YOUR mind Kara.
I did a video on that a couple of months ago, take a look through my channel :)
So nice I love it 🤩
Thank you! 😊
Congrats! The new defenders are really cool as well for a luxury SUV/off road vehicle!
For sure I would love one of those… just a tad bit expensive 🙈
@@KaraBeal yeah they're around 90-100k depending the model & spec/package it comes with. Again congratulations on your new rig, enjoy it!
There a pile of shit the new defenders as ex employee of landrover id never tell people to buy one or freeflanders there shit 😂
Hi Kara! Lovely car. I have a now old ebike. I found insurence hard for a rear bike rack. Sorry for the boring comment!!
Love the car buts what your opinion on the old landrover defender 110 my dad has one and me and my dad take it to go mtb and we can fit the bikes inside stacked vertically with tons of space
Yes dood couldn’t have said it better at the start
Congrats to you Kara.
Congrats!! 🎉🎉
Thank you 🙏🏼
Well done Kara, great cars.
very nice, been a landrover, offroader for many years...bf goodrich first call😂
Awesome

I crashed my mondeo into a freelander back in 2008. The mondeo was a right off and the freelander barely had a scratch.
What was the name of that bike rack?
Looking forward to the rest of this series
Very nice car!
Enjoy your car, best thing to do is get online find all the problems you will have with the car and get spares ready. I like the rack, nice one.
Thanks for the tips! I’ll have a little look!
Fantastic cars these, not greatly reliable...but when they're working they're brilliant!
There shit as a ex enployee of landrover id never tell people to buy one
One of the most reliable modern land rover models made, the Frewlander 1 had a few issues; 1.8 particularly, FL2 is fantastic
I wonder if those tracks are wide enough for my fat bike to fit in one.
Your steering wheel is on the wrong side. Maybe the dealer can get that sorted?
Can you let us know the manufacturer and model of that bike rack please 😊

Link to rack?
how much weight can the bike rack hold?
Did you have it when went to Surrey Hills other week
No I didn’t :)
how much you paid for this car ?
Make sure you get decent warranty! Freelanders are absolute lemons
Dream bigger homie, thats a break down waiting to happen
Wild that this is your dream car.

Off roading? With them tyres? Good luck
4:38 lift with your crack not your back. You can thank me when you’re old
