ive never understood getting literally every single game 😂 like great i get to scroll for a full minute on my way to the 5 games i play
I've tried to be intentional about only downloading games that I'm likely to try or play. Sometimes I'll just jump from one game to another, play it for 5 minutes and if I don't like it I delete..has saved me lotta space.
Only reason I'd do it cause id have a seemingly endless choice of games to play when I'm bored
Why limit yourself to ten or twelve when you can explore the entire library

To play light gun games you just have to change the aspect ratio to 4x3 and move the sensor bar as close to the screen as possible. Sega's light gun games allow for calibration and is accurate enough that they provide an option to turn off the crosshair so you you can play like a real light gun game. The best remote for this is the Nyko Wand + if you can find one. By far the most accurate. Seems to have been built for this purpose. 2nd best is Wii Motion plus. Although the extra motion controls have nothing to do with the better accuracy. They just happen to be better in that aspect as well.
I have a thing for small consoles (thats why X series S, ps2 slim and og wii my all time trio) and the fact that wii is 4-5 time cheaper than Wiiu made my choice quite easy, as i see it mostly hacked WIIU is just all the wii + wiiu library + nds VC/emulation + slightly better n64 emulation + variable homebrew + wiiu tablet gaming within your apartments/house. It seems to me that if you already have a wii + switch (and especially +PC) the real PRACTICAL reason of having wiiu is that if you want to play all these ported on switch releases the way it was originally intended to be played(mario 3d land, mario kart 8, Fatal Frame Maiden of Black Water etc)+ interesting ideas within multiplatform titles mostly made by ubisoft(zombiU, rayman legends, watch dogs 1, splinter cell blacklist). No guarantees yet but i still believe that wind waker/twilight princess hd eventually will be ported as well. The only thing i still pity for is an inability to play normally withount OG hardware in kirby rainbow curse(sequel to the ds' canvas curse) with all these drawing platforms things...Yet i cannot deny that once again nintendo is about making state of an art consoles which fates varies from total success like wii/switch to totally not fair failure like with gamecube and especially wiiu. Relly underrated hardware that has a lot of interesting ideas and i understand why people are craving for this unit

the price of the Wii U skyrocketed once they announced that the eshop was going down in March 2023. I bought one a few weeks ago at 140 and that was a steal for how clean it was and compared to the price of other units. It's not uncommon to spend 150-200 for one right now

Wii U, because you can play straight up Wii on the Wii u, and the homebrew and games is ungodly phenomenal.
I kinda do both since I'm downloading so many games and my Wii barely has space for all of them
The reason for the weird Y cable is to give enough power to the hard drive. It might be that with an additional power supply the drive would load up quicker on the Wii. IE it is underpowered on the Wii, although it does work.

Not really... I say the wiiu is better than the wii as I can play gc, wii and wiiu on the wiiu whereas wii you can only play wii and gc... and don't forget wiiu has hdmi output
gamecube games ran in 480 interlaced, normally written as 480i, mode by default but if you had component cables you had the option to play some games in 480 (which is the resolution) progressive, normally written as 480p. progressive mode is better than interlaced and I'm not really able to explain it myself, but it does not necessarily have to do with the refresh rate or htz of the display. it is a more complete and visually appealing display mode
I have a modded Wii but I switched over to wiiflow and rhapsody shima version firmware update and it runs awesome.. wiiflow and rhapsody put all games and emulators in one flowing menu easily switched between and launched from

You could've just bought the Wiis HDMI Cable istead for $20. No converter or dongle is needed. I have my Wii and the Mclassic upscaler paired up. You also don't have to scroll through the games like that. Look at the buttom of your screen. Change the scroll to the cards, then just press down on the D-pad to double or triple the line of games. It cuts the time to scroll for a game.
i use ntfs on wii with no problem, to put the games i put them in batch with wii backup manager which will update covers, titles etc..
wii u uses its own filesystem but you can inject wii/gamecube games from an sd card, it's better because you can launch them directly from the wii u menu but more difficult to install, in this mode you can use the gamepad as a controller
also not all wii have gamecube ports (the ones made after 2011)
i think you can set an exit key for usb loader gx from the settings or just use the wiimote
Much faster way to go through library by changing display layout for those that are unfamiliar instead of search option he talks about. Also scroll left to get to the end letters of alphabet quicker lol. Top of the screen shows layout options. List is best and has a scroll tab you can click and drag which will also show game covers
in usb loader gx, I downloaded a theme and my full soundcloud playlist and it plays throughout the usb loader!
Also 2tb hard drive works with ntfs

I've soft-modded so many wiis... I can do it in my sleep lol... I've modded wiiU with brain age hack and suffered through everything you described.... but overall I'm not a fan of wiiU anymore. A majority of the games have been ported to Switch.... plus I HATE that stupid tablet gamepad.... on a side note... I'm not a fan of the gamecube controller, so with Nintendont I always used the classic controller connected to wiimote. It has analog triggers so you don't lose any functionality.... Good Video bro!
Yea luckily the switch has all the games ported over from the wiiu and yes that gamepad is also HUGE and bulky! Not to mention the stupid proprietary charger port they put on it 🤦
I love the GC controllers, I need to get some getting use to when I use Xbox controllers to emulate on pc lol

I had the same time consuming issue with copying files from a pc to the SD then to the wii u until i found out about NUSspli. Such a time saver!
NUS has terrible download speeds on my WiiU
I can get like 300-400Mbps on my PC or ps5 but my WiiU thru NUS gets like 2Mbps and takes hours just to download a gig or 2
@@silver1407 yeah that's one of the downsides of the Wii u. I've read the wifi card is inferior compared to other consoles. I just set up a queue, download and leave it on overnight.

I have both a hacked Wii and Wii U, and when I play on a CRT TV I prefer using my Wii, because for some reason I can’t figure out how to use Nintendont on Wii U in a native 4:3 aspect ratio. It seems to always stretch the image horizontally. Maybe I’m missing something

Just in case you're not aware. The Wii 'sensor bar' is a misnomer. The sensor is in the wiimote. To gauge it's position in space it needs to see two IR lights. That's all that is at each end of the 'sensor bar'. For such a large screen, you could set up a couple of IR lights at the edge of the screen. Or even have a couple of candles for romantic Wii tennis!
You can install a different gx loader theme that will have a scroll bar
I did mod my Wii U when I had one, but I ended up parting ways with it. Though, Cemu Emulator runs pretty well so I use that.
Yea if u have a good enough pc then cemu works very well to emulate wiiu
I just played mario kart 8 with some friends using 3 PS3 controllers connected to the Wii U. No need for an expensive (almost) useless pro controller, and we don't have to play with the uncomfortable wiimote

agreed mate, the wii u is great for people who want to use controllers that they already own on the console without needing to buy specific expensive controller adapters that won't always work perfectly because of tiramisu autoboot + bloopair. i dont want to spend $40 on just one wii u pro controller and would rather just use the ps3 and xbox one s controller on the wii u. i have 4 wiimotes 2 nunchucks and 2 classic controllers and the gamepad so ive already got 7 controllers ready to use.
Quick tip: if you use an SSD external drive, you don’t need a Y cable. Plus it has way faster access/stability.
Oh interesting... but how does it have faster speeds if the USB ports are 2.0?
I also have a Western Digital 3.5 HDD. It works with only one plug since it's externally powered.

To each their own, however is 600+ games worth the slowdown? I'd rather have a drive that has a handful of great titles/currently playing, and the rest are stored somewhere else. The idea of having 600 games would be the same issue I have with Netflix; too much choice, ending up with the same 'ol same 'ol.
Slow down > then having to go back and fourth to your pc and swap out games. And slowdown isn't an awful experience as it's very minor
On my steamdeck I swap games out like you suggested... it's a tedious task
I just tested turning on my Wii u with the pro controller and using it to navigate the menu, while the menu is on the gamepad it doesn’t work but after pressing X to swap screen to the tv it worked fine
I have had a Wii for a long time. I just got a Wii U and I am loving it. The only issue I see with playing Wii games on the Wii U is that it asks me to format the drive each time. I am afraid if someone else is using it without me, they might end up formatting my games drive. Is there a way to turn off the format message?
I get the format message on my 2 drives (1 wii, and 1 wii and gamecube)
You can't get rid of the message cause the wiiu doesn't recognize the format of the hard drive

There's a homebrew app called 'USBHide' that stops the Wii u asking to format a USB.
I added my Wii u games through the Wii u helper, but it is missing a few games like call of duty, 007, Cabela's and a few other games . How did you get those games loaded to your Wii u since you have the whole collection?

Try the original usb loader gx and not the modded one with Wii, GC and wiiware shortcuts. I find the original one is loading faster.
Also can I buy a copy of your rom batches on a large hard drive?
I had to drop into this video and comment because like you I also have both a modded Wii and Wii U. However I have to say that I don't know if its cause the video is a year old at the time of this post or that you simply haven't spent enough time with the Wii, but honestly I would recommend the Wii over the Wii U all day long if your goal is emulation. My Wii boots directly into USB loader no Wii menu at all. Also when you were showing loading times for the gamecube games on the Wii I don't know what is up with your configuration but mine does not take that long to load. I also have over 600 gamecube games and it comes up in less that 5 seconds for me.
I actually have a new video coming up as I been modding wiis for a while since this came out.
I fixed the loading time on the gc drive by updating some files.🤘

yes you can, however you still have to be within the wii u to use it. doesn't work with VWii unless you have a homebrew app for pairing bluetooth controllers. just a few hoops to jump through but if you dont want to spend the money on a wii pro controller then this is fine.
Gamecube attachment shouldn’t be an issue if you just put bloopair on the Wii U, you can use switch gamecube style controllers with it at that point, no?

you can also use a gamecube controller to wii remote adapter and will be recognized as a classic controller
You get a better video image with the wii if you take it off wide-screen and set it to 4:3 aspect ratio. It's still 480p but doesn't looked stretched out.
Eh it's not really image quality that I had an issue with the wii... it was mostly that it needed a hdmi converter. I don't recall seeing a setting for stretching the image as I used the component wire 🤔
Stretched? Wii games have a 16:9 mode.
@@LennyQUMFIF wii's do not output true 16:9. The resolution is 640x480 in wide-screen and 4:3. It should be 852x480 but isnt.

Idk why I never bothered to put all of my roms on the Wii U. I hacked it many many years ago for some smash 4 mods and shoved the system in my closet after smash ult came out
I have a question. So I have a modded Wii U and a modded Wii. I have two separate drives for each and a y cable. Is it possible to use the drive with all my Wii games on it on the Wii U without having to format it when I plug it in? Also I only have a MacBook, and had to figure out alternatives to make the mods happen but got it done.
Yes if it works on your wii it will work on your wiiu. So yes your wii drive should work on wiiu
@@Vic_VP so I saw your message and tried the wii games hard drive on the Wii U. Opened usb loader gx like I do on wii and the wii games don’t show up… but… In Nintendont the GameCube games show up. Weird. Any advice? Btw thanks for quick reply. Also I get this error when opening the wad folder to add usb loader to the Home Screen.
@@IM2GHETTO convert the wii and gamecube games into wup format then use wup installer in the hombrew channel on the wii u you can then gave wiiu , wii and gamecube games on the same hardrive

@@alexanderrubio7283 yes thanks I did that, but I wanted to use the Wii hard drive and get rid of the Wii. I was able to make the games show up. It was an option at the top I had to select:
Windows won't format anything over 2gb in Fat32, but other applications will.
also i get your annoyance with the composite component but i want to let you know that is actually the biggest reason to own a wii over wii u. the wii is capable of playing every old school console in 240p rgb with a 30 dollar cable. to get every system and the rgb mods for those systems would run you literally thousands just in hardware alone. the wiiu cant do 240p so all your snes and sega cd back is just not going to run like it would on the real hardware but the wii is a monster at it. so really if you dont want to run it in native resolution on a crt tv with rgb and want to run it in higher resolution lcd or newer i would definitely take the wii-u though. just want to let you and others know.
press R+Z+B+Dpad Down to exit gamecube games on the wavebird; else u have a really outdated usbloadergx/nintendont version

Fun fact about the Wii U GamePad: it doubles as a Wii sensor bar, so (if you have the charging dock) you can set it up under the TV and use it without needing to use the Wii sensor bar!
Btw, you don't need the charging dock to use the wii sensor bar, I just suggest you do so it doesn't run out of battery.
My guy, progressive scan means it will have your video image non interlaced. It has nothing to do with 60hz.

I'm just talking from my actual experience with the consoles at the time... it's not that intense nor is it meant to be a factual video. I had 2 consoles, got to experience both at the exact moment and made my choice.
Im thining about picking up a WII U instead of modding my WII simply because its going to be way better for my HD TV vs my wii.

Cemu is great. If multiple controllers meaning 4 player... that's flawless on my end using 4 Xbox 1 controllers
If u mean like 1 day u want a Xbox controller on p1 and another day u want arcade stick as p1, you'll have to just assign the controller in settings
if you really like your wii you can get an upscaler like the retro tink 5x. or just get component cables (YPbPr ) if your monitor doesn't support component cables you can get a component to hdmi converter.
@@_BELMONT_yeah, if you like your Wii just get a $350 upscaler and $30 DAC instead of just buying a Wii U for like $150, seems reasonable

I never had a wii nor a wiiu but I traded my ps4 for a wiiu cause I got the ps5 nd I just modded and honestly it’s not bad I got the Zelda version so it’s for me more of a collector item since I got 2 molded switches and one Oled and another an animal crossing in total 4 lol I also got 2 gaming computers , a Onexplayer an a Xbox one damn I feel like a nerd .😄 My son it’s kinda a gamer too he be playing the switch a lot .

Great and informative, but not sure what world you're living in where a WiiU cost less than a Wii... utter horseshit Sir. I have both, but the Wii is a LOT faster booting and navigating between menus.. WiiU is shockingly slow at that basic shit.
