  • Finally getting to ride a train and not a bus!
Although we struggled to book the tickets on the Hungarian rail website, we eventually worked it out with the Romanian rail website (CFR) if your thinking about taking any Romanian trains or trains that go to or from Romania, you'll want to use that website!
This is the beginning of our 2 week road trip around Romania and we can't wait to freely explore the countryside and cities! (Romania is honestly incredible!)
    Thanks for watching!

I just stumbled upon this video and if it's not too late (I don't know how long it takes from when you film to when you post) I want to give you some advice about Transfagarasan (I suspect that this is the road you meant that you want to drive it): don't go there during the weekend because there is usually crazy traffic, like rush-hour trafic in a big city. So my recommendation is to go there during a normal week day, and try to go as early as possible in the morning.
And welcome to my country! :) Hope you'll enjoy your time here!

So refreshing to watch fellow Aussies in Europe! I'm taking this same route in a couple weeks... Just an idea, why not apply for a Nomadic visa (like in Estonia). Could be a good way to get you into the Schengen beyond 90 days. ;)

Guys, you do know that there are individual agreements between many, many countries that now are part of the Schengen zone and other countries, among them, Australia, that basically let you stay as a tourist for longer than 90 days?
It's quite the interesting topic and if applied you do need to be careful in which order you visit and how and where you enter/leave the Schengen zone, but it's completely legal.

@@JordanandEmily Check out Romania's traditional Xmas songs (colinde), dishes, old and weird Xmas traditions and Xmas markets.
Western Europe is gonna be orderly, organized, aseptic and more limited but pretty.
Easter should also be more interesting in the East. Oh and weddings too, the party lasts until morning and starts in the afternoon so last for like 15h.
And since you are in Romania atm, you got to try at least 6, 7, 8 different soups. One thing though, for tripe soup make sure you go to a place that makes it well, that's essential for this dish.
One more thing, polenta is a replacement for bread when eating it with sarmale or fish or w/e. But there are more stand alone dishes too with it, like mixed with cheese and sour cream or for a dish called bulz where it's mixed with cheese and roasted. You should try polenta again.
Also try zacusca multiple times as in each home, each restaurant it tastes slightly different and there are also many variations. Try icre (fish eggs salad) and eggplant salad. Also try pickles and that's true for the entire Eastern Europe too. And one pickled thing you would be likely to miss is baked peppers and it's not worth missing out on this one.
And try stuffed peppers too, they are like sarmale but peppers instead of cabbage and sweeter because of it.
Do look into the Danube Delta too though.
Ok i'll stop here or i'll keep going until Easter lol.
      Have fun!
