Actually, ZSSK class 362 can speed up to 140 kmph. The 120 kmph version of this loco is labeled as Class 363. There is also 160 kmph version labeled as Class 361. All of these can be seen in charge of Košice - Budapest services. :)

A little correction at 2:45 - MÁV class 470 (former class 1047) has a top speed of only 160 km/h due to the lack of necessary safety systems like LZB or ETCS. However they are technically capable of the higher speed but only when they are not the leading engine (for example second locomotive in a double set of Railjets or pushing a Railjet stock, but that only happened once in their twenty years so far). However GySEV class 470's can run at 230 km/h as they were originally fitted with the LZB system.

Great video, but I would like to correct some information about this train. The train's name is Hernád-Zemplén Intercity, it is a combination of 2 Intercity trains. At Miskolc-Tiszai the 2 Intercity train are detached. The first 3 carriage ( sometimes 2) goes to Kosice ( usually the red, slovakian carriages) and this train will be called Hernád Intercity, the last 3 carriage ( or sometimes 5 or 6 carriage) goes to Sátoraljaújhely ( and this train will be called Zemplén Intercity), which is at the border with Slovakia as well as Hidasnémeti, but Hidasnémeti served by the Hernád Intercity, and not to mention the fact that the Hernád is an international train, the Zemplén is not.

Hi, you know who I am, but I left my Delorean in the garage and I packed my clothes into a luggage today 'cause next Thursday I'll go on holiday to the town of Matalascañas, known for its beaches, being just next to the Doñana National Park and some kilometres away from Nuestra Señora del Rocío's Sanctuary, one of the best sanctuaries all over Spain and its pilgrimage, which is, in my opinion, the second most important pilgrimage in Spain.
P.S: The most important pilgrimage in Spain is my town's one, Spain's oldest and greatest, the Virgen de la Cabeza's Pilgrimage.

About the dining car: in Hungary this train runs only as an InterCity train, but in Slovakia as a EuroCity so it's an interesting question... technically it should carry a dining car at least on the slovakian part, but considering that it's maybe only 5% of the route... let's just say, hungarian logic 😂

This train is actually TWO InterCity trains in Hungary: the Hernád-Zemplén InterCity. The Slovakian cars go to Kosice while the Hungarian cars go to Sátoraljaújhely. The two trains decouple at Miskolc-Tiszai. Furthermore, both trains act as an ordinary passenger train at some parts of the route (Miskolc - Hidasnémeti and Szerencs - Sátoraljaújhely). That's why they don't have a dining car. There are not so many passengers who cross the border, especially on weekdays.

  • @172Manager

The train is only cheap, especially in 1st class, if you book a saver fare. For example, if you have a 2nd class InterRail Pass and would like to change class, the Hungarian train staff will apply the international tariff. This is at least twice as expensive as the domestic tariff. This train used to have GDR compartment cars with thick upholstered seats and opening windows. The Slovakian 1st class open-plan carriage therefore offers little comfort compared to the 1st class Plus carriage from the Hungarian railway (MAV Start AG).

"How is it so cheap"? Come on, guy, creep out of your Western bubble and get real: the ticket's price is not that cheap for the locals. Try earning a Slovak or Hungarian salary and you'll see what I mean. This ticket is particularly expensive for Hungarians, given the continued devaluation of the Hungarian guilder (forint) against the Euro (the currency of Slovakia) - and most other foreign currencies, btw. It always baffles me how much most Westerners are unable to think out of their Western box.
