It's like the whole song is about the things we do to distract ourselves from loneliness. We have these magical ideas about what will happen "when I grow up" in the forest or at the sea but you just end up waiting ("waiting for it to embrace me"/"waiting for it to come back to me"). And then when you're grown up (with cucumbers on your eyes, maybe because you're old and trying to look young again) you realize you just wasted all this time waiting for someone to love you when maybe you could have done something to ease the loneliness. Kind of interesting when you pair it with the video, which seems like something's gonna happen the whole time (she'll jump in) but then she just...doesn't.

I was 13 when I play Pes 2011. Now I am 25. I can’t explain how much I miss those times.
I’m so glad this song has grown to 20,000,000 views. Me and my group of friends down here in Texas absolutely loved this record, and Fever Ray seemed to go under the radar for most of the world. She was very early to bring back this retro electronic sound that has become more and more popular in the decade + since this record came out.
Fever Ray is making some wild shit now a days, not my taste, but this album was so god damn amazing that she (and her brother) will forever have a fan in me. I’m pleased as piss that this video is gettin the attention it deserved years ago.

Haha so I have come back to this video to learn it on a the drums, and I saw it had 20 millions views and literally said to myself aloud “FUCK YES, I am SOOO glad this video has this many views.” I go down to the comments, and it looks like I said this exact thing and had the exact same feeling 3 months ago.
I spread this record around to so many people back when it came out, and everyone loved it. It’s by far my favorite album of this type of music, since I usually listen to more tech/death metal or soft folky kinda stuff. I rarely listen I any electronic based music. But when I do, ITS FUCKING FEVER RAY!

This track always brings me back so many memories of my trips back home from the club when it was already getting bright in the morning while the streets were still very empty (keep the streets empty is another good example for that afterglow feeling). The whole first record by Fever Ray was just mind-blowing to be honest. What a masterpiece! I still have so many memories when I first listened to these tracks back then

I actually interpret this video to mean that when we are younger we have such a greater capacity for imagination, the "magic" of the world we live in and the incredible experience of being young. Her father in the window is too far past that stage to understand and therefore cannot connect with her and why she is so "different". But she alone is the creator of her life, art and how she sees the world.

I found this album on the new artists end stand in a branch of HMV when it came out, when I was 20. Love it. Don't listen to it enough these days.
I saw her in London. I've only ever been to two live shows, Fever Ray and Sigur Rós. The Fever Ray gig was the best event of any kind I have ever been to.

I found the knife a couple years later but I'll be honest, it was a bit left field even for me.
I first heard two of their songs and loved them but definitely saw a lot of their other stuff as out there lol now I love it.
It's not a political phrase. "It's a bit left field" or "out of left field" means strange (it also means "unexpected"). Although I'm from the UK apparently the phrase originated in America with baseball terminology (just found this out now).
You HAVE TO try to see Bjork live one day before you die. Changed my life.

I learned about Fever Ray through the theme song of the show "Vikings" called "If I had a heart" and I wanted to look up some songs and i came up to this it's been almost 10 years since i heard this song playing PRO Evolution Soccer 2011 and I never knew how the song was called, my entire body got chills from the nostalgia.
I feel really good that I heard this song when it first came out. I didn't even know I kept up with music like that until I was in my late 20s, but I guess I've always been doing it. 🤘

My dad first showed me this song and music video when I was 7, at the start of his and my moms divorce. He was staying at an hotel for while and my little brother and I would visit sometimes and I remember asking him to show me this video most of the times I saw him. I just managed to find it after all these years, and while it gives me nostalgia because I was obsessed with it as a kid, it also makes me very uncomfortable and upset because of the feelings I had back then, which are still so connected to the music in my head. It's a beautiful song and I'm glad I managed to find it again and see it in an entirely new light now that I'm 18 and understand English, but it also brings up a lot of bad memories.
