I met them over ten years ago, asking for tickets to a small sold out venue in Phoenix. I had no money, no tickets, just showed up because I loved them. Went around back asking to get in and asked JOSH of all people, I was like, wait.. dont I know you?? He said, well I’m 1/2 of the band phantogram. And he put me and my friend on the guest list. I fucking cried. I love them so so so much. Their music was along for the RIDE OF MY LIFE (I’d call it that at the time) I had their autographs but that was lost to time.
I love you phantogram ✨💕😿🤟
I wish to see them live this or next year.
That's so nice
I drove to Tucson to see them in November cost me 700$ but was so worth it. My birthday and Xmas present.
@@Jessicatt88 oh i wish i could see them someday but I don't think they'll ever come to Argentina or that I can go to US
Your Radical!
I was taking a shower and this song randomly came back in my head after 4 years, and I am so glad I recovered this core memory
It popped up on pandora while in the shower today! Had to find it
Honestly its always in the damn shower too on god. You are not alone on that lol
*Core Memory*
You're only alive as long as the last person that remembers you....
Your mamma's a llama. I don't know how to comfort you away from this fact. Everyone has a mamma, that is a Llama. We are Llama progeny. Accept your mamma as anything in this moment, and whether alive or dead, acknowledgement of your mamma being a llama is a sign of respect. Be well Always, even as we all have llama- mammas. Listen to Arianna Grande Live on Vevo, singing safety net. Be, Love, Always
The note she hits with “You” in “I’d rather die than to be with YOU” gives be goosebumps, chills and tears EVERY TIME.
I've been in that kind of relationship. This song resonates with me.
Yea ...kinda makes you wish you didn't hear your partner say it
It’s funny.. everyone thinks this song is about breakups. I don’t see that at all.
@@ChrisVonDoom83 lucky you
@@ithielpitt7525 I’ve been in that type of relationship before.. But I truly believe this song isn’t about that. This song is about Euthanasia. It’s a conversation she’s having with someone who’s essentially dying on life support & the hard decision of pulling the plug or not. The lines where she says “ am I still alive or has the light gone black” is the persons point of view from life support. They’re asking her to question the quality of life. The lines.. “Take me underground, Take me all the way, Bring me to the fire, Throw me in the flame” Is basically Lucy asking for a mercy kill.. put me out of my misery so to speak. The line “I’d rather die than be with you” reads the same way. She’s saying I’d rather die & end this than let you watch me suffer.
Anyone in 2024?
Been listening to this song for years

Here in 2024! Yay 🎉🎉🎉!
Still beautiful band.
She is a legit cool human. Talked to me for like a half hour after their set in StL, we talked poets and about failed parents. She is legit. I feel for the loss of her sister.
Wow!!! it is a good feeling when we talk to a person and we imagine that this person is so snobish but she isn't !!!
Doubt
Is this song about her dead sister?
@@mattaaron9169 that was a bit harsh, he's just saying he was wrong about her, can't we just appreciate instead of razzing people all the time?
@@vicx05 Yes, but sometimes it's not a bad thing to put people in their place when they're making brash and harmful assumptions. It might push them to consider the impact of their words before using them in the future.
I was 18 when I heard this song. I was folding jeans for the 50th time that day at Levi’s and I literally stopped working and listened to this song. Took me a month to find it and 10 years later, I still listen to this song on the daily
Yeah it is a jam for sure
That's an awesome song story 😎 I had a song in my head from the 80s that I could not find the artist or even song title to for over a decade. When I finally had Shazam on my phone and I was in a CVS Pharmacy one afternoon they played it over the loudspeaker and I was able to finally get it! I know how it is to wait for a song like that and then to play it and you never stop playing it. ☺️Take care, thanks for sharing, and keep listening to your beautiful music.
I never heard this until today as I was playing Santigold, but I did work at a Levi's factory 20 years ago. My job was to turn pockets inside out... bundles of them, just pockets, all day long. Pay was good, killed my wrists though.
That's just what it is... something special you've found and now just can't do without... it's a part of you. Cheers
Wow ! 😂 I didn't know it's that old 😲 now i really feel old 😂😂
I been living under a rock for all these years... I just discovered this band and holy shit... I been missing out

I've liked them since I found them.❤
My sons mom chose drugs and alcohol over him. I overdosed and almost lost my life in 2017. When she says “Lucy’s underground she’s got a mouth to feed. Lucy’s underground she’s never coming backkk”, it gives me the chills starting from my spine. I chose to face my demons and here I am 6 years sober from hard drugs. I started listening to this song in the beginning of it all. It brings me back to a moment of uncertainty and I was so scared to do this on my own. Now my son and I are living a beautiful life with love, pain, joy, and all the other emotions that life rotates for us. He is my beautiful boy that gave me a life worth fighting for. All the love, all the power.

Daniel Horceag Absolutely stunning in many ways. Acting is on point, storyline is on point. Its comedic at times as well which is enjoyable. Give it a squiz and see how you like it.
I walked into a Doc Martens store and heard this song playing. I didn't have my phone so I couldn't Shazam it or find a way to know what it's called. It took me a week of just playing it over and over in my head to finally track it down. Something about it just hit me at my core.
Obviously a very emotional experience for Ms. Barthel, the tears in her eyes at the end of the track are testament to the power of the music, as well as the words.
Fantastic piece of song writing.

This song was on repeat when I left my abusive baby daddy. 11 years later my son and I are doing better than I could’ve ever imagined. If anyone reading this thinks they can’t get away you can.
I’m quietly planning my exit. I hate myself for waiting so long that our kids understand alcoholism and how merciless it is.
You're not alone. I'm sorry because I know the helplessness. But maybe ask God to take you out of the relationship. But-- here is the issue.. whenever God has given me multiple exits to get all the way out.. I feel so weak, because here I am. Still here. Somedays, it's really a beautiful relationship with 2 people who love and respect each other, and I really do love him. Our son is 7 years old and is very confused about what he wants as well. I really can honestly say that I don't know how to get gone. All roads seem to lead me back. But yes, I know that's not healthy. Because when it is bad, it is truly bad. Any yes, I'm talking abuse, and I'm talking a lot of cheating. I will pray for you, and please say a prayer for me too, that whatever God has for me and my son, that it shall come to pass no matter how weak I am, and maybe I am weak- But God can Give me perfect strength to do what He would have me to do.
Rachael, I just prayed for you ❤
I'm like 50 years old, but 42 years ago, my Mom did the bravest, most terrifying, and deadly dangerous thing possible: she got us out of and abusive house with my birth father.
She still bears emotion scars, had jumpiness & anxiety without relief, and is overly-fixated on making sure I get home safe from my doctor's appointments & that on payday, I was sure to pay EVERY bill...but never overbearing. It's how he broke so much of her, she shows love this way.
I have my own issues, but have a psychiatrist, take my meds without fail, and been in weekly therapy for over 6 years now. Even at my age, healing can begin. But my Mom is my HERO. I can never tell her that, and why, because of what life was for us. What I can do is never get impatient with her irrational fears when they occur randomly 1 or 2 times a month, tell her how much I appreciate her looking out for me consistently, and we aren't...physically huggers...because of that stuff back then.
But you can show affection, my friends, by a real smile, with sincere eyes...when she can muster eye contact, but even that's improving slowly over time, even 4+ decades after getting us out. Not that that didn't leave court case, horrific actions by him, and continued attempts at violence & intimidation. But she didn't flinch ever then. My Mom, regardless of what scars she carries, will always be the perfect Mom for me.
I *like* myself now, over 40+ years and weekly therapy for nearly 7 years, and meds...and I can show her that, which is the greatest, AND ONLY, gift she has ever asked me for. She doesn't like to receive gifts, she feels it's too expensive, or that she wouldn't merit them (though no self-conscious word or those sorts has ever left her mouth!) She says only one thing of him: without him, there'd be no Me. So no matter what, it was all worth it. All of it. Just because she could do right by me as a parent, he couldn't, and I didn't deserve that life (never mentions herself the same way, though it was undoubtedly worse for her than me!)
SOOO...yeah, Phantogram is both to my music taste, but greater still, they give my Mom a Voice she could never, nor would seek out, for herself.
tl;dr: Tough, read it or don't!
Just seen them live, they opened for Qotsa in Detroit. First time I heard of this band. I absolutely loved them, they put on a great show and definitely gained a new fan in me.

For the longest time, I just thought she was just trying to make her tittie's shake. For views....... Maybe your right. Or maybe the cinematographer is just really good. Or I'm a pervert 😏.
So, what you are really saying is, those 12 years of guitar lessons his parents paid for, really has paid off??
"I'd rather die than be with you" perfectly said love.
Not every girl can pull this haircut off, but she freaking rocks it!!! She rocks period
Personally i think the song is about the struggles of being in an in-between place. The narrator is reflecting on feeling uncertain and caught between a "Lucy's underground" and the surface world, searching for a way out. They refer to the pull between these two worlds as the "fire," and ultimately opt to stay within it because they believe it is better than the alternative. The chorus speaks of surrendering to the uncertain journey and embracing the freedom of being "small." The song is ultimately a call to embrace the unknown and to enjoy being caught in between: being small is a reminder to stay humble and small in the great chaos of life, and always look for the beauty and love that lies within it. An amazing song and so addictive.
minimalism at its finest. Simple yet so - mesmerizing.
literal minimalism... isn't "minimalism" the music genre.
She is just perfect. The way she moves, the way she is dressed, her voice, she is beautiful. Perfect.
Oh, my
To be clear, she could be on the floor running in circles with a road cone on her head and she's still be perfect.
Misfit skull from life is strange???
Her chest is my favorite part.
And her eyes and the way she says oh lol

The popular music game has been a monopoly since a while. Because its easier to stream music and video, its easier to feed bullshit to people and keep them hooked. They just have to make sure the hype doesnt die and find creative ways to supply.
Still folks who appreciate good music will find it, cheers for making a brilliant point
@@ronaktripathi6332 I concur! Tally Ho! All the best to you!
@@ronaktripathi6332 And one more thing...in actual matter of fact, my view is the 'feeding bullshit to people' is actually having a very serious and damaging effect on how society is progressing. Take for example the Motown era...the music meant something, had a social conscious, implored to people to think a bit (hey whats going on?) and thus really propelled the citizens toward greater civil responsibility...voters rights, peaceful coexistance, etc. etc. Not all top 40 is guilty here but my main point is that where I live, their are about 5 stations that keep playing the same 70's 80's and 90's stuff over and over again...in fact I can actually guess what the station is playing before I turn it on...and these are the bands that have ALL the money...stones, ACDC, Led Zeppelin etc...but even then...you almost never hear obscure and awasome bands from that period on these stations...just a sad state...needs to CHANGE! This song reminds me of this woman who manipulated me into serving her demons for well over a year and a half.. I was a heartbroken teenager, she was sixty year old divorcee. We fed each other's addictions, alcohol, heroin, crack, meth, you name it. She fed into my trauma and demonized my mother who was only trying to help. My innocence was lost in those streets and hotels and trips... if only I could take them back.
I will always remember the triumph of breaking up with her on the phone on her birthday, telling her that she is my gangrene and I had to amputate her. It's been over a decade now, and I am just now learning the word of trauma bonding. If anyone reading this feels stuck in something they know they shouldn't be in, I guarantee you that somewhere in there you have the courage to leave your abuser, and trust me you won't regret it.
power to you, always 🖤 xx

who is this gorgeous woman behind this gorgeous voice? so much power and emotion in that voice it's pretty much ridiculous. this world definitely needs a lot more Phantogram.
sometimes you just need a song, and today this was the song i needed, thank you phantogram and barsuk
I was soooo obsessed with this song when i was 16 (7 years ago), i totally forgot about it and i heard it suddenly on the radio the other day. So glad i found it again, felt like i found something lost...

My absolute favorite music video of all time. Every so often I drop by and watch it again. The song itself is amazing, then combined with reflective oil pool and the subtle bursts of color silhouettes in that one sequence... gorgeous.
how did i only discover this today? 8 years wasted...
Bad, too bad, :C
They are good , do you like wwen or pavement ?
You want your mind blown? Look up Big Grams on CZcams.
Welcome fam, at least you found them.
Same boat. I remember hearing this on a commercial for a car back when it came out. Always thought it was a nice guitar riff and wanted to check it out. For some reason, i never got around to it. Stupid Pandora radio never even played it on my Synth/electronica station. Smh. But just got into the song a few months ago.
The hair, my gawd gal don't ever fire your stylist , its epic cut.💓
You’re both beautiful and your music is amazing. You’re helping people get over stuff that you probably can imagine. Thank you.
Phantogram is one of the best groups ever. The band and Sarah blow my mind.
Legend has it this video started as an impromptu jam session in a subway.
