  • Here's the new Texan, made in Bozeman, Montana!
    The Epiphone Texan is essentially a J-45 with a long 25.5" scale length.
    When Gibson purchased rival guitar manufacturer Epiphone in 1957, it moved all of it's production to Kalamazoo, Michigan where the Gibson factory was, and proceeded to churn out a bunch of what were essentially Gibson guitars with a different headstock and minor appointment changes. The Casino (basically an ES330) is another common example of this.
    I have a soft spot for Epi acoustics, I had a really beat '64 Texan for a while that sounded insane. Something about a slope shouldered dread with a long scale just works. Paul Mccartney, Peter Frampton, and Noel Gallagher think so too!
    This guitar has a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, Indian Rosewood board and bridge, and traditional hand scalloped X bracing. It also includes LR Baggs electronics.
    Recorded with Shure KSM32, Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, Logic Pro, no additional processing.
    Strumming 0:01 Flatpicking 1:38 Fingerpicking 3:10 Capo 5:56

    I recently traded a Martin Jeff Tweedy for one of these and I have no regrets. The Texan for me is the best guitar I have played. It does so many things well. Some may find from this video that it sounds trebly, but I can assure you these Texans have a monster bass response and a very even tone that is never muddy. Hammer-ons during chord strumming just pop out with great definition. If you love the J 45 and want a little more depth and snap, this is a serious candidate. I've been through so many acoustics; Taylors, Martins, Gibson's, even a Collings CJ35. The Texan is a very inspiring guitar that fits and literally checked all the boxes for me.

    Thank you Sir for your great demo , beautiful playing , I enjoy your videos a lot as they are very well made and through my headpones it sounds amazing . Gibson , Martin ...always great Iconic acoustics ! I do love the sound of the new Epi Texan USA Made . don 't quite understand the critics as it can't be that bad . I own myself a 1964 inspired by Texan from 2009 china made that I like . Bought it second hand for 150$ !!! obviously doesn't sound as good as yours .It cannot be compared . I own a Gibson Southern Jumbo and a Martin D16H , 2 mahogany and seems to me that the new 2020 Texan would fit perfectly in between.
    thanks again for your great demos. looking forward to watch your next video . Phil, Raincy, France

    Ive got an Epiphone Texan actually made in Bozeman in the early naughties . It’s the Paul McCartney signature 230/250. It sounds like the one being demoed on this clip. Fabulous guitar . Well worth the 5 grand, and such a good investment for the future. I bought a Texan back in 1964 and part exchanged it in 1967 for 50 quid. One of life’s painful lessons but it all came good in the end. Oh the joy of the guitar bug.

    I have a sunburst '65 'Texan' that I've owned since '77. Was a daily player, fmr. gig guitar. It sat in my apt here in Miss for a few yrs, new strings on it, unplayed for that time pd..When i recently opened the case to examine, clean, play it, found it had hyperbolically cracked and split right behind the nut/3rd fret area, buckled up!!, I was devastated!! Don't know how this happened! It had been repaired before yrs. before I got it. Now looking for a good luthier to properly reglue/repair this devastating crack!! Any help would be appreciated. Have been thinking about making the investment in one of these Montana-made newer Epi Texans..This demo sounds pretty good. Need to play one of these to decide. Have a FT90 ElDorado, rare country western larger pickguard that I play as a home backup..Sure do miss my '65 Texan!!

    i have a 69 so there.
    it's all very subjective, i've bought and sold about 60 guitars, mainly acoustic, since 2013 and i usually compare them to the 66 gibson j45 i've had since the 70's. even the J45 has it's ups and downs, on my channel i've got lots of comparison videos (the recording quality isn't brilliant, but hey ho, pay me - lol) and i did wonder at one point why we pay hundreds or thousands for a guitar that sounds just like one that cost £25. but i dragged the j45 out of the case the other day and for reasons best known to the weather, the inside of the case, the lifespan of the strings - whatever it is, the j45 is at the moment sounding not just good, but amazingly good.
    it is beaten hands down though by the plastic martin i have, a OOOX1 USA from 2004 - unbelievable guitar.
    so, try as many as you can.

    Jimi hendrix and Kurt cobain used Texan! A design that is different from other guitars! They have their own identity. However, it is priced similar to the Gibson J-45 50s Original. What are your choices? Personally, I like the low-pitched guitar sound. But Texan is attractive enough.

    • @SupernaturalLove
      @SupernaturalLove Před 4 lety +1

      I agree it has a similar tone as my J35 but even though I've moded the nut and bridge and pins to bone, it will never equate the clarity of th Epi for 2 reasons the scale and bracing. Long scale necks increase the string tension therefore bringing more clarity. Second thing is the bracing which is X bracing compared to advanced X bracing on the 35. While the advanced bracing on the 35 gives more volume it fails to focus on a more balenced tone. Epiphone achieved this by using the same bracing as a J45 but lengthening the scale therefore opening up more tonal possibilities. They're 2 completely different animals although they seem more similar.
