    Was being stuck in MS Word world.
    When I have shifted to mac, I am unable to find a best alternative. Now, I have noticed how much I have missed if I would have purchased a MS Office.
    Pages at its best and out of that your explanation made me to stick with Pages and not looking for anything else.
    Thanks a lot Adam Hill. You are the best.

    Thanks for this! I've sparingly used Pages in the past, but this course has really solidified the distinction, which I did not know previously, between word processing mode and page layout mode. I have a portfolio that is due this week, and page layout will be perfect for me. This has been so very useful and has me prepared.

      To exit edit mode in Pages on your iPad, follow these steps:
      Switch to Reading View:
      While in edit mode, tap at the top of the screen. This will switch you to reading view, where you can view the content without accidentally moving objects or invoking the keyboard1.
      If you have text selected, you can also switch to editing view by tapping “Edit” in the menu that appears.
      For images or table cells, touch and hold the object, then tap “Edit” from the menu.
      Switch Back to Editing View:
      To return to editing mode, tap in the top-right corner of the screen.
      Set Default View for Received Documents:
      By default, when you receive a Pages document, it opens in reading view on iPhone and iPad.
      If you prefer to always open documents in editing view, follow these steps:
      Tap , then go to Settings.
      Turn on “Open in Edit View.”
      Note that if you later change a document to reading view, it will open in reading view the next time you access it.
      Remember that reading view minimizes controls to only what you need for viewing and basic tasks, while editing view allows you to make changes to the document1. Happy editing!

    I use Pages all the time, Mostly, I use it to write a newsletter. I've gotten fairly comfortable with everything but Arrows. I've learned to insert, lengthen, shorten, and change direction. What makes me hate arrows is that every time I move one, EVERYTHING else moves too, and makes a mess!! There must be a way to make them be 'behind'. so that they don't disturb everything else I already have on the page. Any help you can give me is welcome. Thanks.,

    • @LearnitTraining
      @LearnitTraining  Před 6 měsíci +1

      To place arrows behind a document in Pages, you can follow these steps:
      Open the Pages document and click on the Shapes icon in the toolbar.
      Select the arrow shape you want to use from the Lines section.
      Click and drag the arrow to the desired location on the page.
      To adjust the arrow’s thickness, click on the arrow and use the Thickness slider in the Format sidebar.
      To add an arrowhead to the arrow, click on the arrow and use the Arrowhead dropdown in the Format sidebar.
      To send the arrow behind the document, right-click on the arrow and select Send to Back.

    I went to set a custom document size: File > Page Set-up > Manage Custom Sizes. I live in Australia and the default units are metric (cms). I want to set up for a KDP standard 6X9 inch book. It does not seem to be possible? Sure, I can figure out the metric equivalent, but really, for a piece of global software, I don't want Apple deciding my units for me without the ability to alter them. Interestingly, while it forces me to use cms for the document size, it also forces me to use inches for the margins etc. Crazy ... or am I missing something? BTW, this is about Pages, not your video, which I think is excellent.

    • @LearnitTraining
      @LearnitTraining  Před 6 měsíci

      To insert a list in the Pages app, you need to:
      Create a blank document or open a previous one that you want to edit.
      Place the cursor in the document where you want to insert a list.
      Type a dash, a bullet, or a number and follow that up with a period and space.
      Type the first item that you want on your list and then press “Return”.
      Type the next item and press “Return” again.
      Repeat the process until you have added all the items to your list.

    Ive searched EVERYWHERE and I cannot find line numbering? Does this application do line numbering? I'm trying to write a legal document and need line numbering.

    • @LearnitTraining
      @LearnitTraining  Před 4 měsíci

      Apple Pages doesn’t natively include a direct feature for adding line numbers to your documents. However, if you need to manually insert line numbers, here’s a workaround you can follow:
      Create a Sheet:
      If you prefer a spreadsheet or table sheet, click the “Create” button.
      Adjust the Column:
      To make line numbers recognizable, adjust the first column to serve as the line numbers’ cell.
      Put Numbers:
      Manually input the line numbers in the designated column.
      Edit Cells of Line Numbers:
      Customize the appearance of the line numbers as needed1.
      Keep in mind that this method involves manual input, and there’s no built-in automated line numbering feature in Apple Pages. If you encounter any difficulties, feel free to ask for further assistance!
