    is it possible to set pages documents to certain pixel dimensions for later publishing to the web?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  Před 2 lety

      As what? Pages doesn't have a way to export as images. The only web-publishable format is PDF which would scale to any size that you use when embedding it into a "box" on a page. If you were to open the PDF in Preview you could export as images from there, and at that point you could set a resolution in pixels-per-inch. So using that number you could set the page to a specific size I suppose. Keynote, on the other hand lets you set slides to pixels and export directly to images, so maybe that is your better option.

  • @peebeen

    Many thanks for a great video. Even though I have been using Pages for years I learnt something. For simple word processing/page layouts it's a great tool. However, for complicated drawings with hundreds of elements it's virtually useless. The problem has been there since they made it compatible with iPads. Any version after Pages '09 V4.3 slows down seriously to the point where it can take 5/10 seconds to select an object, rendering it unusable. I keep trying every new version as it comes out & none of them have so far fixed the problem. I've filed the problem with Apple many times but no change. Any ideas? Similar family tree drawings have worked OK on MacDraw, Claris Works & oIder versions of Pages, so why doesn't it work on the latest versions? In case you are wondering, I have a fast i5 iMac with 32GB Ram & 1TB SSD.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  Před 2 lety

      Yes, you can export as a PDF or an ePub file from Pages, both of which KDP accepts. InDesign is a powerful page layout app, so it is much bigger than Pages, a word processor. But the learning curve would also be steeper. So which is "better" is subjective.
