Why lie to people, I jailbroke, installed the modchip myself took me less than 20 minutes. If their charging you over 200$ their a fucking joke I know a dude who does it for 60$ and has it ready in less than an hour.
Where do you get that mod chip
I got both the Switch OLED and the Steam Deck and can say…
Get the deck man. It is the best handheld device period.
Way less trouble with custom stuff since valve is practically the complete opposite of nintendo :D
Cheers!
This video genuinely surprised me. I was looking for a method to *spice up* my device, and with this, it would be possible. However, I think I would rather spend about as much as it would cost to get this chip and have it put in on a Steamdeck, where I can do almost as much, but I'll also have my Switch for Switch-only games.
I personally have a steam deck and it is really good, it doesnt require going through all the hassle you went through and you can run demanding games with the official software, like the steam deck can run elden ring
AND it can run switch games too

Id take a jailbroken switch OLED anyday. The oled panel is so good, and I already have a huge switch library. I have a pc for pc games, so steam deck doesnt really make sense for me😊
I don't really get why someone wants to play their cinematic titles on a deck.. when mario, zelda & indie games are more handheld user friendly
I love when Lucid pulled up that paper to stop him from getting arrested lmfao
The only time I've ever bought a recent (last 10 years+) console, was if it could be jailbroken, I'm glad to know new switch models can be "jailbroken" (really it's a mod that allows CFW to boot (so it can run unsigned code). But with the steamdeck being at the price it is, I'm no longer interested in this device, but it's great to see developments in the switch modding scene.
:(
a few years ago i found out how easy it was to jailbreak an old 3DS i had, and there was an app i installed that allows you to scan a qr code to download things, and there was a website with every single 3DS game freely available, alongside third party apps too, so i could just scan a qr code and download anything i wanted

Lucid broke in to the unbreakable OLED ladies and gents. Gotta love it!
Hey can i do it with my regular Nintendo tho :((??
The fact that nintendo doesnt let you do what you want with your own property is actually messed up
Yeah, I really don’t like newer Nintendo consoles just for this reason but it makes sense since they don’t want people pirating games.
Well, if you read the TOS and EULA you only own the hardware not the software. Even then, you cannot "reverse engineer" or "modify" the hardware as it contains intellectual property. Same goes for your PC, Mac, iPhone, Apple Watch. The software on said devices is only licensed to you so long as you own the device.
Never, ever, ever heard or read of any person anywhere in the world going to court let alone jail for modding their own hardware. If/when you start to sell it or hand it around or otherwise profit from altering Nintendo's copywright firmware THEN you can be in trouble. CZcams being a case in point. This bloke Lucent gets paid by Google and THAT is why he can't show Nintendo copyrighted material. Profit - Copyright - No No. Got it?
I like home brew but why would nintendo enable piracy on their device lol? software sales are huge for dedicated game consoles

If you love the customizability and the opennes of the jailbroken switch you will definitely love the steam deck, they both run on linux (with the steam deck having it's own distro).
But the deck is chunky as hell and it's heavy as well + a worse screen. For performance, the deck is better but I don't see myself playing PC games on the deck over my PC...

When owning is not owning then stealing is not stealing so feel free to jailbreak cuz we payed money for that
The "balls" are solder that connect the chip to the board and allow it to be accessed by the other chips on the board, when the switch was heated to make the mod chips balls attach it heated another chip, the emmc chip, to the point the balls released rom the chip so it was no longer available to the board, from the outside it looks just like normal, just theres a small air gap between some of the pins and a chip causing it to just need to be reheated so you can reattach the chip to its balls, he mad your switch a unique
Came here to say this, imagine thinking the you need 100$ more for a new cpu and all it needed was a reball for the emmc storage, both most have been relieved
DUDE, If i would've known i could have done this install for you! I just met your cousin through Joe at CPR Dearborn heights. BTW Glad you got it going! I chipped my V1 Switch, If you ever decide you want your V1 switch chipped so no more RCM Loader, lemme know :)
They don’t like it when your switch escapes the matrix
Even if not perfectly comfortable for adult hands, the switch form factor is second to none. Just wish it was as open as the steam deck.
If the steam deck ever gets close to switch OLED functionality I’ll 100% be switching over.
Facts, only reason I bought my switch was because it’s way more convenient to travel with since it has smaller form factor than the steam deck
Reballing the eMMC is where he applies heat to the storage switch on the chip

Here in Brazil, it's very easy to find someone who can do it for you. That's because if you don't jailbreak your Switch, you won't actually be able to buy any games because they cost a fortune. So most people who plan to buy a Switch already factor in the price of the jailbreak.
I always liked the idea of using the switch like a jailbroken android phone but given the difficulty of modding the console and Nintendo making it even harder it's not worth it right now. If the Steam Deck had an OLED screen then it would be out of the question to mod a switch but it still is a amazing Handheld, with the ability to play your games however you want with all the controlls the Deck offers.
welp now there's a oled steam deck haha
Lucid, the EMMC is the Switch’s storage. It acts as its portable hard drive. So you didn’t know what it was, and now you do. “The more you know”😊. Its a storage chip, its what a lot of phones use for storage as well.
Assalaamu Alaikum, this is insane frr

The only way to really screw up the OLED jailbreak is with the eMMC solder point.
There is nothing difficult about the rest of the install.

you dont know what reball the emcc is?... solder is a liquid when heated right? so reball would mean redo solders, and emcc is the ram sorta, so he resoldered the ram lol

I have a modded OLED switch (only paid 150 all in for it to get done) and a steam deck. I prefer having both because in the end it's much easier to play switch games on a switch
Just so you know there is a new mod chip that is really cheap now, I think it’s like £10 and uses a small board which has been widely used to mod. The only downside is you have to remove the usb c port on the bottom of the board to get it to fit but it saves so much money
How would you charge the switch if you remove the USB-C port?
@@soulreaperx7x the USB c on the mod chip, not the switch USB c

This video felt like a set up in quality from you as a personality on camera, good job Lucid keep it up!
the way nintendo and everything associated with it are censored in this video is so hilarious to me for some reason
Your custom theme looks pretty cool. I used to have an original switch, with a Trinket M0 (not because it's necessary, but because it's a PITA having to constantly use the jig). In the end I got of it. Nintendo is such an unfriendly and hostile company, and even though I never bought stuff from the eShop, I'm pretty sure they get a cut of all cartridge sales too. Plus, the community is honestly kinda dead. I was hoping to see the same spirit that the PSP community had, but it's just not there. Android ran really badly too for me. Overall I wasn't getting any real new features, at best it was fixing stuff that really should be part of the Switch on stock. In the end I sold it for a pretty penny and just bought a steam deck.
Small “chat gpt” message rlly caught me off guard 😭
my opinion i would just get a steam deck Also Ramadan mubarak ❤
Damn dude, for all that money you could have gotten a Steam Deck 😂 but this is really cool regardless. I hope Mario doesn’t send his goons on you
When you said, "reball the emmc"(i think), what that means is that the heat the original guy applied could have melted or bridged a pin on the emmc, which is a storage medium that is meant to be directly soldered to the board and has the boot info for the switch. i don't know if the emmc has the bios or uefi(both handle essentially the whole system under the hood, it's incredibly crucial), it probably did, which is why it didn't turn on. Also, it's fine for you to run custom firmware(atmosphere to be specific) and go online, playing something like ssbu online. there are things that will get you perma banned, like cheating, but things like home screen customization are perfectly fine. Some telemetry servers are blocked by atmosphere, so nintendo won't notice that. You can also run .nso homebrew(homebrew that you access via holding R while launching a game) while online, as it is overriding an existing app, so nintendo can't see.
very interesting, thanks for sharing. I was wondering what the guy meant as well

I remember when u originally unboxed the oled switch on the iamrem channel, glad to see it coming back
In response to the "would you rather have modded switch or steam deck" question.
I actually have both and I would much rather have the Steam Deck. A modded Switch does a lot but the Deck does more. I usually do all my emulation on there but I rarely do emulation outside of playing retro games online with my friends as I have every Nintendo console since the 64. I really just modded my Switch for modding games and connecting other controllers. For example I use PlayStation Dualsense controller to beat up Pepsiman while playing as Dream in Super Smash Bros.
So if you have to choose one between the two of us ?
The steam deck is so good bro
a steam deck is defiantly better in most ways, especially if you plan on tinkering with it and getting emulation, windows, plugins, and 3rd party launchers going. the main downside for me is how big it is, a switch could somewhat fit in a pocket but defiantly not the deck. if i could have a hacked switch lite i would prob use it more just for the portability
This tl is magical. Of all the unlikely things to occur, never would I expect to have been capable of viewing this type of a video: a video about modding nintendo hardware that was released an actual time frame ago
Yo lucid! I think you should definitely give the Steam Deck a shot. It's a device I bring almost everywhere with me and its so fun being able to play almost anything on the go. Definitely worth the purchase IMO! :D
I'm currently using a modchip (Version 5) OLED...and know what...the fee for the installation + the hwfly chip is 2.500.000 VND (about $110 USD) :) Now I can play the whole Switch's library with just that initial cost.
are uu able to play online join friends games
?
@@bearsj3 dual OS (custom and original ) so...yess!!!
So you made a less powerful steam deck
You can actually still go online on a modded switch without 90DNS. Nintendo will only instantly ban you if you have pirated games installed on the console. I have a modded switch that I use to play modded games and it’s always online in Custom Firmware. That said, using 90DNS IS recommended to block telemetry data that can be used against you.
I can really recommend the Ayn Odin as a portable allround emulation system. It is cheaper than the jailbroken switch and the steam deck.
My Odin has literally only collected dust since I picked up a Steam Deck.
I'm gonna be real with you, the modded switch going online for one second is a bit of an overstatement. One of my friends is constantly playing online in a modded state. What you need to make sure is that you do not replace the home menu. Other than that, you want to avoid any mods that can give you an unfair advantage. So: Custom Characters are fine. So called texture hacked stages is fine. Completely custom stages are NOT fine. Characters with modified stats are also NOT fine. And finally, straight up cheats are also NOT fine. Take a page from the Mario kart Wii modding scene and use it as a base. When playing vanilla Mario kart Wii. Any thing that Personalizes the game is fine. Custom HUD, fancy menus. A Mario wearing a black suit...that type of stuff is fine. Heck, I even replaced Mario circuit with a version of it that makes it look like a toxic wasteland. You're quite literally driving in acid on that texture, and I am still fine to go online.
In conclusion, going online on a modded switch is fine, as long as you don't cheat.
Also I've been told pirating is an instant console ban so don't do that.

I have this one. Love it. Steam deck will be outdated soon. The switch will continue as a legacy console many years from now. I still play my PSVita and many still use the 3Ds. Who uses a PC from 10 + years ago?
Guys, don't risk bricking your switch, get a steam deck instead. If you want versatility and customizability just buy a steam deck. It runs on Linux and has great support for emulation, even in some cases up to Xbox 360 and ps3.
@@ghosttiee9212 switch oled is pretty nice for its intended purposes, but not for jailbreak. Its a pretty shit experience and you risk losing access to your device. Also its more like a medium tiered android in terms of power. Pay 40 more for a whole handheld pc.
