  • We've made this so easy! 5 styles of worms, 2 basic colors, and 3 ways to rig them. Let's head below the surface and look at the differences between the different offerings. Do you really need 100's and 100's of worms? Of course not! Today we're going to simplify fishing with plastic worms.
Worm fishing can be broken down into 5 tail styles. Within those 5 styles you can find your favorite models. Within those models you can survive with 2 basic colors (Black/blue and Green Pumpkin) but it can be nice to have a few others as well.
Below is a break down of the styles, including our two favorite picks from each category. We'll also include our favorite hooks, jigheads, as well as rods and reels.

Hey guys i am 68 years young and have been fishing for 60 of those years. Your instructional videos on how to rig this and that and so much more info has made me a better bass fisherman over the last few years. My catch ratio has gone up every year since i started trying your tricks of the trade so to speak.I always fished my worms two ways, texas style or wacky style and most always caught fish. But on those days when it was hard to find a bite i started trying some of the new styles such as shaky heads ans drop shot ect,i started catching fish instead of giving up and going home.I thank you guys for that! keep up the good work and info it helped this older fisherman.

Two out of the three lakes I fish have pretty clear water, so I use mostly swimbaits - soft-plastic shad, bluegill, or perch lures or my personal favorite the swimbait/crankbait hybrid: it has a fat body and a long tail and combines the wobble of a crankbait with the swimming action of a swimbait and bass go nuts for it. The only problem is that you really have to know what's a bite and what isn't or you'll snag every stick there is and lose your lures.

weightless texas weedless. I use 6lb mono and Its fine.. I think here its worse.. we have tons of small rocks on bottom.. so you cant really use any bait or you will snag it so easily.. but weightless texas weedless can last a long time in this area that is the worst to shorefish from. the shoreline is limited here also.. that's what makes it so much of a pain.. it gets cliffy quick and its heavy pressured also.. lake sucks so bad I wouldn't want my enemy to fish here lol. though can get tanks here.

I so appreciate you guys. I try to be a student of the sport. I go to workshops, take notes and watch a ton of videos to prepare for tournament seasons. Your channel has been a staple of my learning progression over the years and will continue to be as long as you guys keep generating them. I find I revisit them many times as a refresher on specific techniques I'm either learning or gleaning information on existing techniques that I might have missed the first time around. I also appreciate the lists you include in the description, of not only the bates, but the breakdown of the gear you prefer to use. I hope TW gives you guys a kickback as I know I've spent thousands there based on your recommendations.
As always a fantastic informative video. Thank you guys so much!

By the way Gene Larew lived at Table Rock Lake and was a true innovator in plastic worms we fished them all the time. I think his first worms may have been speed worms (little hooked tails) and did not pick up on the swim bait action.

GREAT !! Commentary!! I loved it... Simple details make the fishing SO !! easy.!! We fish the northern upper Lakes of Wisconsin in the fall
Some are super clear, lakes.. even ones in a little more Murkey . We used custom made worms .JET black / no fleck. super salt /anise infused and then stored and rolled in the Anise oil 100% slow fall technique . Or a drag along. unbelievable results for small mouth. large mouth . 20 Years. We have been using Senkos , My buddy jimmy made them ,WHEN NOBODY EVEN NEW WHAT THEY WERE..Up north anyway! .I'm Bragging here ,there were 4 years in a row when the average smallmouth was 5 lb's and the catch of the day was over 6-1/2 LB OMG, Love the memories .The locals always asked what you fishing for?. most anglers up north fish for muskie or walleye. That time of year. Nope --WERE FISHING FOR bass. BASS.??? Why?? biggest fish we ever caught.. they don't like Bass ! We stopped telling /them we were fishing for Bass . Changed it to Walleye/Muskie. ALL catch and release.. over the years the colors changed, but!! the major catch always come;s from jet black.and still does. thanks for the VID i really liked it
BTW- 20 years later later . the lakes are Loaded with bass fishermen. -guess who still
    kills them???

It's great knowing all this as today I had a fairly bad day of fishing but watching this video helped refill my confidence and energy to fish. Now I know the correct way and the things I was doing wrong

As I was watching this, a thought popped in my head. You guys could probably write the most useful bass fishing book on the market.

I love this. Not that it’s information a lot of us don’t know. It’s just that I love work fishing.
One thing you didn’t talk a lot about here is Carolina rigging curly tails and speed worms.
Here in Utah we have deep reservoirs, steep drop offs and shelf’s. And these hold a lot of fish that people just overlook or give up on.
Carolina rigging big curly tails is a trick I’ve started to use and it works. I caught a lot of fish this year Carolina rigging off of shelf’s, through ditches, big underwater rock piles. Structure where the Carolina will shine vs Texas rigging and Its just been so fun.
The worm I use the nose is the Zero Baits megaworm. It’s a 10” curly tail. Great colors.
I know I’m the Owner of Zero Baits but I mean It’s what I absolutely love to do.

Even though I'm from the midwest, your tips and techniques are or can be versital in any fishing condition that presents itself! Thanks

My friend from and I have been watching fishing video's for a week. We went Today At a pond around his condo. Had a fountain in the middle. We caught largemouth bass for 4 hrs. Frogs, spinner baits, jigs and senkos. The biggest I caught was probably 5 to 6 pds on a senko. He hit hard. Caught me off guard. Been catching 2 to 3 pounders all day. Awesome day of fishing. Shawn
