- In this very special visit to Adam's Cave, Adam goes in-depth about his passion for the Blade Runner blaster and tells the story of each of the variations of the prop he has in his collection. The evolution of his replica project over 25 years is an incredible story.
Watch our other video with Adam talking about his collection of Blade Runner blaster kits made by other prop replicators here: • Inside Adam Savage's C...

Yup, six years after this video, Adam Savage was still obsessing about Blade Runner, such as this One Day Build of two Snub-Nosed Blade Runner Blasters: czcams.com/video/9XB4Be6TjHU/video.html
@Andro mache
?
On a side thing, I remember them saying about how they'd specifically designed working weapon props for Dredd.
Apparently this allowed them to act with functioning props as opposed to having to stop and switch props all the time.
I wonder if they meant blank firing and everything and it sounds like this is clearly an abnormality.
I have to ask... Has anyone built a replica of the Harrison Ford Blade Runner pistol that fires actual bullets?
Charles Stebbins

Is the Adam Rubber blaster available for sale? I'm having a sid-kit built for me..
Adam should write a definitive, fully illustrated book on the complete history of the Blade Runner pistol, and the challenge to recreate it. I'd consider buying it!
noooo
definetly
I'm thinking about getting into mild prop building, so Adams stuff interests me overall
I wouldn't consider I would buy it right away

+some dude
Why not?
Adam having fun is contagious. It's so much fun just watching Adam having fun, whether he's building something, or just talking about props and stuff.
They should have cast Adam as the collector in Guardians of the Galaxy....
+Cory Glenn It's ironic, because I think Adam actually keeps Benicio Del Toro on display in his shop in between movies.
Give this man a job Disney
Wow, that's actually a pretty cool thing to note, and such a sub-character could add a lot of dimension to many movies, represented differently as the story line requires.
Perfect casting....wow. Wish I had bought an Adam Savage blade runner kit....Uh, Adam...any still available?
YES
1:54 so where do we shart?
Ek
Glad I didn't have to scroll down far for this comment

Came here for the shart.
In my pants?
no wonder i cannot get a bladerunner pistol replica. Adam bought all of them :/
Still waiting for a mass produced full-metal airsoft replica.
I just watched 25+ minutes about blade runner blasters and I haven't seen the movie. I need to get my life together...
Jennifer Boergers same
Same here, just watched it 10 minutes ago for the first time.
Jennifer Boergers watch it!
My bruh it's been 4 years please tell me you've seen it AND the new movie
same
I always find myself returning here.
I owe a lot to this video, as it was this showcase that not only started my own fascination with the Blade Runner pistol, but also made me realise that I wanted to pursue a career in Production design.
So Thank you Tested and Adam.
Love how Norm literally just reiterates what Adam says right after saying it and then Adam just nods his head and says "right, exactly!" lol
Yeah it got to the point where I stopped noticing the other guy talking
did anyone notice that he wouldn't let the asian dude hold the guns. The dude kept awkwardly attempting, and if he got to hold one, Savage would quickly take it back.
I noticed that especially on the one cast from the original molds. He like grabbed it and held it while Adam was still holding it and Adam just didn't let go.
Yeah hes awkward lol. He also likes to simultaneously point at the same thing Adam is pointing at for some reason...
crzzymnn911 hahaha yeah
Norm usually does that...a lot, which is annoying.
Yeah I don't even know why he's in the video to be honest.
Again. So wonderful to watch someone who is so passionate about their craft. I don't have the love of props that Adam does, but i love how dedicated and informed he is about them. If you're going to do something do it all the way. Great piece.
I'm Italian and I LOL'd at 15:32. "A very famous Italian toy designer named Edison Jee-ocka-TOAL-ee".
Someone should tell Adam that "Edison Giocattoli" is the name of the company that made that toy laser gun, not of a person, and "giocattoli" means "toys" and it's pronounced "joe-CUT-tolee".
I love Adam's obsession with the BR Pistol, I've watched these videos multiple times and I still haven't ever seen Blade Runner!
God you need to see Blade Runner now if you give any kind of a shit about sci-fi.
Wow, as a long time BladeRunner enthusiast, I loved watching this video and learning about the different guns and blasters. Thank you so much for showing and discussing your personal collection, which is truly amazing.
After hearing about your obsession in your book, I was so happy to see this video pop up on my suggested videos. I know it's an older video, but it made me happy. I can feel your obsession/passion for this prop. Thanks for sharing your collection (a decade later).
OHH its That Gun!
heheh I get it
:) Yup. "That" Gun.
I like the 556 more
+TripleM bah, its all about the og .223
love New Vegas
1:54 "So where do we shart?"
lol that's really good
+candiduscorvus was just about to post the same thing :)
We shart in the mart.
Chris Hansen Drop a duce on a noose?
Oh Norm.....
outstanding stuff. love the dedication of adam not giving up and continuing this project. even after the original was discovered and remade. great stuff
I love this guy. I could live pretty much with one channel of him. Just 24/7 watching him work.
Bladerunner is my favorite movie, wish I had one of those replicas
anyone curious about the story behind that "adult magazine"?
Ya, I bought that one for the article...….
I just love Adam, especially his child-like enthusiasm about thing that he likes/loves. Just so inspiring. The attention to details and all that.
I wait not so patiently for these videos to come out every week. I love the detail in which Adam can (but not always does) describe every model, prop, etc. that he builds. That dedication and attention he gives to those things makes this series so special.
UK blaster owner, I have had a Tomenosuke and Takagi fly through customs, no probs.
Mr. Adam Savage is living the dream...
Adams prop obsession is very VERY deep!! Thanks for letting us in.
Nothing in this world is more deeply satisfying to me than seeing someone so excited, so happy, and so incredibly passionate about something, anything. It's truly what the world needs more of.
This is so much more entertaining than Mythb. This is genuinely something he is excited about and that feeling transfers very well. (=
Norm needs to put his hands in his pockets :) lol
I love Adam's passion for making props. He's just like a little kid. I'm doing amateur cosplay and I am always happy when the character I am playing has items or weapons to craft. Adam is my hero :3
I love this Tested Team that you've all put together. It's very entertaining and I never cease to learn some cool facts!
Keep up the great work guys!
I just had to...Norm: "Where do we shart"@1:54
Sorry.
Martin Skaar Lol its even funnier because he corrected himself
I had to look up that word and my god did I have a good laugh ;)
1:54 "...so where do we shart?"
Efreeti hahaha. I came here to type it you beat me to it.
Really fun seeing the different iterations of the piece. I've always appreciated the work of prop makers and other craftspeople in films.
Loved listening to Adam geeking out there. Great stuff
Basically Adams struggle for the perfect blade runner gun is like mine for the perfect mau5head lol.
where do we shart? 1:55
Hmmmm. Where *do* we shart?
Adam's enthusiasm with the things that he really likes is trully inspiring! I wish I could be his friend just to be able to hang around and get some of that energy!
This is just bloody amazing. Really a great story and walkthrough. I spent a great deal of time on researching this as well, and this is just amazing. Adam, you rock. Gosh... Amazing...!
I want one
Adam still needs the Fallout Version of the Blade Runner gun.
Luke Hunter it's literally the same model ones a 3d cgi the other physical
@@richardinnis7134 there are a few slight differences between the two if I am remembering correctly.
The sketch for Sean Morgan’s gun is amazing. It’s so different to all of the designs but it still has that utilitarian blade runner feel.
Adam, I find your obsession over these kinds of things to be inspiring. You are a hero to any geek who ever wanted a tangible piece of a fictional world to call their own.
1:54 where do we shart
XD
Anyone who knows and or collects nerf guns, listen to this. The Nerf Zombie Strike HammerShot and the Nerf Rebelle Sweet Revenge were designed to show simliar characteristics of the Blade Runner Gun.
Much admiration, and much curiosity that we never see Adam making something that everyone else would like to copy.
I love to watch creative people talk about their thoughts on process. Awesome.
I have no particular interest in the Blade Runner pistol. It's a great movie, and a cool looking gun, but it never had any real impact on my life. That being said, I could listen to Adam talk about it all day. He's always so eager and passionate to talk about the things he likes and it shows. His enthusiasm while he talks about something he's been thinking about and working on for years is infectious.
It's unfortunate that he demilled those weapons for his build. It would be awesome to have that prop as a working pistol at a firing range. Couldn't carry it around without a CCW but would still be awesome.
+Chandler Morris I really don't think it would be safe to fire lol
It's hard to get a decent look at it because they don't get a super detailed shot but you could probably keep the revolver functioning. Obviously not the rifle section because that's just a chamber. Would be cool if it did though.
Probably would have to see if a gunsmith could get it firing. That would be something to see.
Agreed. It would be easier though if I knew exactly how Mr. Savage put it together to get an idea if it could even work though. I've built a few AR's so I'm not totally uneducated on the functioning of weapons.
Right. You'd have to physically handle the item
Lol it's funny how Norman tries to touch everything and how Adam yanks stuff from him to show something. The awkward pointing Norman does is funny too.
omg, adams piece is beautiful, what awesome work
watching this makes me want to build mals pistol from firefly
looking at this gun I think I've found an easter egg in new Vegas
Connor Tremblay wow it's not like there's 80 thousand videos on that gun. How it took you this long to figure it out that it's an Easter egg is beyond me.
bacorable I know, they can be such assholes
Connor Tremblay your just now finding this out
For me the look and sound of the gun made it so cool. Its futuristic yet classic looking. The sound of a shot fired isn't quite normal. Sounds like there is more going on then a hammer striking a blasting cap. Like you hear more of the bullet then the explosion from the casing . I love it. One of the best films ever.
Great, I love these longer videos with Adam!
I prefer tho see it as "That gun" in fallout new vegas
+knives fan Same
+knives fan rather .223 pistol from FO1&2 :P
Dr Milkman never played fallout 1 or 2 just the game console version 3 and new Vegas and all the extensions amazing stuff.
+knives fan you have bo idea what you're missing ;)
hi
Heheh. Norm asked, "Where do we shart?"
i started this video thinking i would just watch for a minute or two and finished the whole thing enthralled. adam's passion is contagious.
side note: in the game fallout new vegas, you can find and use the blade runner gun. it's a great little easter egg for fans.
This is the fifth time I watched this episode, because I love to hear Adam talk about the Blade runner gun.
wait a minute... I just realised that the gun in Fallout New Vegas "That gun" is a reference to this gun... that is cool.
Indeed. Minus the bolt handle and the second trigger though.
ahh ok
I bet Adam's iPhone password is 5223 because of the serial number
No, it's 9613 because that's the serial on his primary build (23:38)
Honestly one of my favorite props in movie history.
Watched this. Geeked out on so many levels. Subscribed.
HBJ
Must norm repeat everything Adam is saying?
I think Adam needs someone to probe him with questions so he has some structure but why does it have to be Norm? He literally adds nothing but awkwardness to this.
Oh, fantastic Adam, Bravo my friend.
19:00 Adam, don't worry - You made a compact model, the more concealable version, or a back up piece, you did good! The details are perfect! Your final two are beautiful, really neat job Adam. I can tell they weer a labor of love, and it worked. Having the Syd Mead "What if" piece to boot, big ups to you!
i like Adams gun better than the japanese one...
Norman. I don't understand why you always have to awkwardly attempt to touch the guns during the interview.. I understand you want to get a feel of it and get close ups. But why not save it for the end when the camera isn't rolling and doing that for editing purposes. Bugs me and makes it awkward, and annoying to watch. Iv seen it in several interviews other interviews as well. Please stop.
Iv seen it in several other interviews*
I love that I am getting my Blade Runner geek fix while watching two Blade Runner geeks (one Adam shaped MASSIVE geek) talk passionately about their geeky obsession!
The Fox and the Facehugger sounds like a children's story,
I like how there's just a Fox and a Facehugger sitting on the table the whole time
also I like how Adam's brown handle gun is what I thought of as a Bladerunner gun before I actually got round to watching the movie
at 1:55 dose norm ask where do we shart? haha
yes he dose.
I dabble a little bit as a maker, but I'm mainly a actor / editor / compositor - film maker, love Blade Runner, probably my biggest inspiration. This video gave me a gave me a new found understanding on the passion behind prop designers.
love the second blaster that adam made love to get One
There's something like it in fallout new Vegas called that gun
that gun is a nod to bladerunner and fallout 1, as in the first game it appear as a item for completing a rather difficult quest, and there ti was called the ".223 pistol" and was the most powerful gun in the game, later obsidian (some key peps did make f1 and 2) got a chance to do fallout NW and they put almost all guns back in the game and changed its name to "that gun" for that is what all refers it to.
Yeah the one in FNV looks just like the gun he shows at 16:43
Yeah, but the fallout weapons that always caught me most were the energy weapons.
You can also get it in Saint's Row IV. Sort of. It's a skin for the heavy pistol.
"Where do we shart?" hahaha
In our pants Norm. 🤣
Syd Mead is one of my very favorite artists his designs are incredible. I also allways loved the weird mecha designs he made for Turn A Gundam.
I click 'like' on every Adam's vids before I even watch them as I know they're always going to be really interesting as I myself started as a model maker and now a 3D modeler
I have never even watched blade runner... why ami here
1:54
He said shart. So professional. Kik. Err, ;p;*... lol**
This will always be the coolest video on CZcams.
I have that Edison Giacatoli "space gun" Adam is talking about, I've had it since I was a kid. It fires rubber bullets. I always loved it because it did look very similar to the Bladerunner gun, and the handle design really is amazing for a toy gun.
***** I believe the gun is called Super Electronic Gun, model number TG-105.
It was also cast to make the handle for the lassiter in Firefly.
Norm has extremely feminine hands.
Jacob Melanson and he's always trying to touch stuff.
Jacob Melanson they look pretty normal to me, maybe he's not using them very much so he has less thick fingers.
The blasters are cool but me being a texan i would want one that fire a live round, becuase even my nerd gun should shoot
Jon J there is a working replica i believe its chambered in .44. i think there is a video on youtube
If you can find a link that would be appreciated
min 15:30 "designed by Edison Giacattoli"
I had a Giacattoli TH3 THUR when I was about 12...amazing toy laser gun. Amazing design work on it.
Wow. Great work Adam.
It really bugs me how that asian guy doesn't seem to care about what Adam has to say. He doesn't even laugh at his jokes or mirror his energy, he acts like it's a serious interview or something.
I just love how much disdain so many people have for Norm. He basically IS Tested and literally half of the reason any of you people get the wonderful opportunity to watch these videos. It really seems like nobody knows that he's the cofounder...
+skudzer1985 Norm's a cool guy. Don't be rude.
spykid ......just because you are the founder of thing doesn't mean you have to be good at that thing. Lots of restaurant entrepreneurs hire people to cook....because they can't cook.
skudzer1985 ...I also hate that asian kid..htf did he get a job interviewing???...annoying a fuck!
I would not want these videos any other way. I find them interesting and inspiring, and every part of them contributes to this. I think Norm and Adam’s interactions are genuine and entertaining.
love this guys enthusiasm for all things sci-fi ,from an ex industrial modelmaker
That is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
I have a new found respect for Adam after watching this.
I love Blade Runner! Thanks for showing the guns brother, and keep up the great work.
I literally wanna make this my job building replication of movie guns weapons costumes and props this looks so damn fun look at his excitement just talking about stuff he did back in the 80s-2000s
Adam infected me with collecting the Blade Runner Blaster. Now i own one Tomenosuke Blaster Retailer Edition, A Rubber Stunt Gun, also made by Tomenosuke, a 3D Printed one made by myself, A Pewter full Metal Version made by Models and Props in Italy and a version of K's Blaster also made by Models and Props.
May the Force be with you always, Adam Savage
Adam built that second gun when i was born :)
I love that he has such a huge obsession and passion with something
You know how people often say "hey, if you could meet any celebrity who would it be?". I've often thought to myself that to be a dumb question as many "celebrities" aren't even seen to be 'real people' in the eyes of the general public due to the many factors surrounding how people with fame are perceived online or through the media. However, Adam will forever be to me the only person that I would be genuinely be honored and privileged to meet just so I could tell him how much he has been an inspiration and nostalgic influence to me.
Although I have no interest in following in his footsteps to be a model maker or being involved in the film industry etc. Adam as a person is the most interesting and humbling man I've ever had the pleasure of being introduced to and his impact on my childhood as both an entertainer and the pure nostalgia of mythbusters makes him the one and only person I hope to one day meet just so I can thank him for all the great memories of growing up and so I can shake his hand.
Adam you are a legend and I love you
I think the Heavy Metal magazine promo was the first time I saw this blaster. Heavy Metal and Omni mags were truly epic back then.
Adam is my hero! seriously, he is my life role model !
Oh man, that toy pistol. I managed to get ahold of one of those for making my 'replica' That-Gun from Fallout NV. They do make excellent starters for people who who want to make a replica of either Decker's gun or the one from NV. Takes a bit of effort but well worth it!
