The CZ received a pair of pangolins from Taiwan last year. A few days ago the very first baby pangolin ever born in Europe was born in the Prague Zoo.

@@awsometech7431 yes! Unfortunately russians don't want to stop... They sometimes say they want but then you understand it was said just to win some time to prepare for the next attack. I don't trust their words anymore, they never align with actions. I won't wish on any European country what we are going through now, especially for Czechia, I really appreciate Czech people.

Well, you have decided to join NATO which is a great move in my books too. 🙂I'm nervously hoping for tighter European cooperation in many fields. That hope might be tiny and fragile but it's nice to have at least some hope.
PS: The one thing strongly connecting this part of Europe is the knowledge that the world would be much better for people in Suomi, Poland, Ukraine, Czechia, Slovakia and many others if Russia stayed in Russian borders.

Truth to be told, I'd rather talk about ice-hockey than politics. We've been lucky to have some awesome Czech players here in the Finnish league over the years :)
Unfortunately, the world is what it is and we better deal with it, I guess.
Maybe we (the countries you mentioned) could put some pressure on Germany, France, and Italy. These big countries clearly do not see the situation the same way we do. Together we could perhaps help them understand what's at stake here.
Anyway, in my opinion, Europe as a whole should do much more for Ukraine, be more decisive and stop hiding behind the back of the U.S.

Want to take a trip to Eastern Europe when war is over. Love Ukraine’s military parades on Independence Day. I believe Eastern Europe will become the new center of the western world in a decade or so. The manufacturing from China could be moved there to re industrialize Europe. Germany will not like that. With Ukraine developed, the whole region can get their natural resources from there instead of Russia. Manufacturing from the rest of Eastern Europe. No more reliance on dictators.
Come back for visit Mr. Klimíček, and not just to Prague. Try some smaller cities and villages to feel the vibe. I'm sure you will be more that welcomed here ❤️🇨🇿

Wow, this is that best news I've heard in a long time. The smaller nations in Europe are really giving us bigger democracies a lesson. Maybe that's the way it goes: democracy always works somewhere so that others can have a good example from which to learn. Their support for Taiwan is especially welcome and encouraging.

I was lucky enough to visit Prague in 2018 it is a beautiful city, I’m glad that a new president has been elected who speaks up for democracy. I remember our Uber driver saying their president was like a ‘mini Trump’, I am glad that both of our countries have different presidents now!!!
Our soon-to-be ex-president was like "mini Trump", but more intelligent (so he was able to make more mess) and a drunk. He generated so much evil that the country will be licking its wounds for years. He managed to split the nation and with great joy watched how populism made his games easier and it flattered his complexed ego.
So enormously happy he will be gone in a month.
Well, as a Czech i like Trump way more than Joe… the “mini trump” comperison was more about his manerism but, i like Trump policies way batter for you. Joe leads US to ground by outside perspective, sorry but it’s objectivly true.

President Pavel looks like The Sea Wolf or something. It’s funny how all these ex military generals turn out to be moderates (regarding politics) when they enter the political sphere. I’ve often wondered about this phenomenon throughout history? From Ulysses S Grant and, “Ole’ Bubblehead,” Dwight D Eisenhower to people like this Pavel guy, could it be because people who know about the true cost of war prefer more realistic attitudes to peace and how to win the peace?
That's exactly my thinking. Once you have really waged war and once you had to make calls or write letters to families of one of your subordinates that they've become a casuality...there's a good chance that will make you weigh your decisions carefuly.
Yeah, wish us luck, we will need it. That elections in Slovakia will be hard.

Solid, determined self-defence isn't "hawkish". External aggression or the lack of is the "dove/hawk" binary.
Eastern Europe will become a high income region once russian style oligarchic political corruption is fully rejected.

I wish my Czech 🇨🇿 grandparents and great-grandparents were alive today to see all of this. Half immigrated to US during ruSSian invasion and occupation of Czechslovkia and half immigrated to US escaping the real naztis. The ones who stayed were not so lucky. I grew up with 3 generations of them telling me how awful the ruSSians were and still are.

When germany doesnt engage on the Taiwan issue like Czech it is probably due to the fact that they have much more at stake in terms of automitive articles export.
Well, most of our industry is directly connected to the German industry and our leverage is even smaller than the German one.

I love you Paul, but there is no instance in existance of Slavic languages where C would be pronounced as K (referring to VaClav Havel). That pronunciation is, as far as I know, an exclusively English invention. Oh, OK, and Italian. Still not Slavic tho.
