I just subbed to Whitneys channel as well. I'm in my early 40s and just made my full A license here in UK (direct access - it's called) and got myself a beautiful 2004 SV1000 K3. When I saw that YN video were he put you onto the spot I had to sub to your new channel, because I realised you were the driving force of YN and he seemed to not recognize that. Great work. I'm about 4000 miles into my 2020 Svart 701 and just now getter better quick shifter function with these 3 things in mind. My rules are: NOT 100% throttle (max torque), do NOT adjust throttle at all while shifting, full toe pull (don't short shift). Suddenly this qucikshift I've largely ignored is getting use.
Im really glad Whitney and you made this video although I have zero interest in these bikes. I hope she will be featured here and there in future videos!
I love my Svart 701. I'm disappointed they've discontinued the 701 line and are sticking with the 401s because it's such a great size. It needs aftermarket exhaust and some mirror replacements for aesthetics, but it's such a great bike out of the box.
Great to see Whitney on your channel. Very nice of her to join up for this review. BTW, I have a 2017 Duke 690 and it's also a great around-town bike... probably very close to the Svartpilen, but I've never ridden one of those. Keep on growin', Spite!
I've a Svartpilen 701 with a decat, airbox mod and retune. The dyno readout gives a reasonable increase midrange and makes the whole bike a little nicer to ride. I switched to a more road bias tyre too(Contis) You're a little limited on choice due to the front wheel size. Biggest gripe on the bike is the dash
What kind of airbox mod did you do? I'm getting the dynojet and decat pipe, already have a LeoVince end can on it and Pirelli angel II tires. Tires made a massive difference on the way that thing handles.
Bought a 19’ SMCR new and finally sold it last month for a Multistrada. Your summary at the end was basically the reason why I did so. I also have a cheaper SM in my stable (XR650R) and at the end of the day the SMCR didn’t really add any additional smiles to my ride that my dialed in XR already provided for half the price (especially that horrible quick shifter).
Spite I am so friggen happy you are doing your own thing now . I am an older rider and I agree how some bikes just beg you to ride them a lot harder than others and it does shape or influence my riding habits to a point .sometimes a cruiser is nice sometimes a sport bike is nice but I found in the small towns I live in I don’t do much highway riding the smaller bikes are appealing more and more to me. I am hoping Honda’s new 750 line up will have a different look then the ktm-ish hornet . Also I hear Suzuki is coming out with new mid-weight motors as the sv-650(done) and v-strom (changes)are happening. I acquired a 2004 Honda hornet which I put a little TLC into it and I absolutely love and I have a 2002 Harley Rd. king which I also like I find myself going to the smaller bike just because it’s easier to back out of the shed in the backyard and get up my path and more fun on the roads obviously but the Harley is super comfortable when I want to go a little farther for the day .I think i will wait another few months and see what happens. If I were to shop the middleweight market now i do like that 701 (found one for 8k and change )but I am thinking Suzuki’s 750 gsx-s is a good value … but …are any of them a lot better then the 04 919 Hornet 🐝?
As someone who owns a 2020 701, ive got a few comments to add that I think might help with the comparison, in the event you revisit this again, or have a follow up. The 701, while not having power modes, does have the ability to turn off the TC. It is an unreliable process, but when it works, it really wakes the bike up. The TC on the 701 is so intrusive, it is very evident when you have it on and try to give it the full beans. It 'feels' like it might even change the throttle mapping as well as turn off the TC. Also, I believe the 701 is geared differently from the factory compared to the Husky and KTM SM versions. Ive read that going up a tooth on the back and down a tooth on the front make a big difference to the feel of the 701. I have not yet done the PCV and cat delete, but I am planning on doing that once the bike is out of warranty next year. Ive just installed a LV slip on so far, and im looking forward to changing the gearing/ PVC / cat delete / sas delete, etc, to see how much difference it makes. Awesome to see the channel going so well mate, you and Whit are awesome together. Cheers!
Some additional thoughts. The sumo has 17s and longer forks than the 701 with it's 18" front and shorter forks. This is more than likely why you felt the smcr was twitchy on the highway in comparison to the 701.
You two have a great dynamic on camera. Hope it can happen again soon. Any chance you can get your hands on a Vstrom 1050? Or even a 650. Like to hear your thoughts on that.
100% agree with your opinion. I think one major factor that people don't consider when they buy a bike is the type of riding available in their area. I wanted to get a dual sport as my first bike, but considering I live in a big city with no trails available to me unless I drive for 8 hours or pay to ride in an off road park, I opted for a street bike instead, and I don't regret it one bit. Not only did it get me to consider that riding fast and cornering hard is actually fun, but it's just so much easier to have a good time.
Great comparison video & seeing Whitney again was awesome. You make a great team in these comparison video's with your different perspectives. She's got to sort out that mirror issue on the 701 though, or is watching out for planes coming in for a landing a thing in Texas? I'd love to see the new Suzuki parallel twin up against the SV650 & the new Hornet vs the MT-07. Will the newcomers take the crown, or are the old workhorses still the better choice?
SMCR is a road going SuMo. It's made to be ridden aggressively and the ergos and chassis are set up for it to be quick to tip in and very twitchy. The Svart is more of a everyday bike that is meant to be a commuter. Just because they share some parts, they are not the same.
Great to see Whitney show-up, and, along with the valid comments she makes about things on her OWN videos, like the one about her BMW, she chimes-in, on these Spite and Whitney editions, with a fun kookiness, as she banters back-and-forth with Spite. Aside from her own "take" and her own perspectives, her mere presence constitutes an INVITE to other women who might look-in, since motorcycling should be welcoming to more women. PLUS, look-how the subs are continuing-to GROW...
Definitely enjoy the vids with you and whitney. Love the chemistry between the two of you. Makes the videos more enjoyable with you both riding and comparing bikes.
The Vitpilen 701 with spoked wheels is the one I wanted here in South Africa. I was upset to hear they discontinued it... and then they became ludicrously expensive... I settled on a second hand 2013 Daytona 675R (probably one of the most aggressive, worst beginner bikes right?) I bought off of Gumtree (our version of craiglist), it has a few dings here and there. I usually ride alone so that is also a contributing factor as to why I hardly ride my bike I had for a few months. I would like to get something I can take my gf along with.
Great to see Whitney on the channel, had already subbed to her channel. Would go out tomorrow and buy either the Husqvarna Svartpilen or Vitpilen if only Husky were to bring out these models with one of KTM’s parallel twins instead!
Vitpilen 701 was my first bike. Loved it! The torque, the look, the sound. The feel! However. Not usable on gravel. Traded it in, paid some extra and got the KTM 690 Enduro R. New graphics kit + a lot of mods. I have literally found my unicorn bike.
Kudos Spite, it's nice to see Whitney with you. You two have great chemistry when reviewing and comparing bikes. It might have been childish but I unsubscribed from Yammie when he fired you. You probably heard it a thousand times already but I wish you could give your side on what happened unless you are not able to. I wish I could see a Svartpilen in person but no one sells them in the Indianapolis area. I have a 2019 MT-07 with all the performance and comfort mods. Are they too much alike? Keep up the great work and be safe out there.
This collab hit like a slap, it's awesome! Nice to see Whitney. Spite is getting tired of the SMCR, it happens. You lose the love. Happened to me with firebreathing literbikes. Now Spite is on the way to full ADV-dad-hood.
That's cool of Whitney to offer to help ya out on comparisons. Excited to hopefully see that Low Rider S vid soon, been wanting to hear you talk about Harleys again lol
Maybe it’s a rider size issue, I’m 5’8” 145#, but I got rid of the wiggles on my ‘19 smc by increasing the dampening on the front end and scooting my butt back/tightening my leg grip; no problems well over 100 on the highways around Phoenix to get to the twisties. The stock seat is definitely terrible you are right about that though. My issues with the tranny/shifting is related to the recalled clutch slave that I still haven’t replaced (spent 2 years of owning it going through a hip replacement and heart transplant so I’m only at 5k miles) but I LOVE the quick shifter for downshifting for sure, rarely need to break in the curves tbh. I DID get the ugly wind screen for it though, which drastically changed it’s character on the freeways for the better, I’d recommend trying that before switching bikes!
I just like the stance and profile of the Svart 701 over the SMCR. It's just... prettier. I've been butthurt for a couple years that Husky discontinued the 701. I'm still tempted to consider a 401, or look for a used 701. Maybe next year... I got an Aprilia Tuareg this year, so the money is spent. Comparing power between a stock Svart and a SMCR with a modded airbox and tune just isn't fair. Get the Svart the same airbox and tune upgrades then come back to it. I definitely want a more "cool" naked commuter and errand bike to augment my Tuareg. The Svart fits, as do several other options.
When you have time please link that GoPro mounts setup. I can’t find the right angle for that chin mount to get video like that. Have great one Spite and keep growning man ! Great episode btw and good eddit you have ! ❤
Drove the Husky 701 Supermoto a few days this past week and it felt very nervous and flimsy at speed. To me it was also underpowered and I seriously doubt that your rear broke loose under acceleration on dry blacktop when I never had that problem in the wet and cold. It did however, slip on patches of slick concrete.
I have a 2013 SMCR. No quickshift, no ABS, no anti-wheelie, full Akra and mod 2 tuning/airbox. I've never hit a false neutral and I love it. *BUT* I also live in the heart of England where there is endless twisty two ( and single ) lane roads. I think you're probably right about it not being a Texas highway machine, which to me just means it's time for you to relocate. 😆
Nice to see a comp video with little about the technical who-ha and a lot about how the bikes feel and how they ride. I liked both perspectives. Spite's got the everyman going on. He ain't no Noob lol
Hi Whitney and Spite, great video the fun that you are having comes through in the video. As for the bikes, I never rode either of them but I would also give the Svart the credit for being more of a commuter, weekend, highway or twisty road even though with the latter that the KTM probably corners a little more sharper/nicer. But for me that would not be that important to pick the KTM over the Husqy. It can still corner fine so yeah. The naked bikes tend to be like that, hence why I really like them so much.
Big shout out to Whitney for hanging out for the day! Don't forget to check out her channel at czcams.com/channels/5MZIzAz32wkJKah9KlIXWA.html

What kind of airbox mod did you do? I'm getting the dynojet and decat pipe, already have a LeoVince end can on it and Pirelli angel II tires. Tires made a massive difference on the way that thing handles.
@@ehiggins7476 Just removed the lid. The tuner suggested it made a big difference. I'd reccomend a retune/power commander to get the most out of it
Bought a 19’ SMCR new and finally sold it last month for a Multistrada. Your summary at the end was basically the reason why I did so. I also have a cheaper SM in my stable (XR650R) and at the end of the day the SMCR didn’t really add any additional smiles to my ride that my dialed in XR already provided for half the price (especially that horrible quick shifter).
The collab that we all wanted. It’s all coming together nicely
Love seeing Whitney join you. Makes me happy that y'all are keeping touch.
Great duo, Spite and Whitney 💪😉
Greetings from Portugal 🇵🇹
✌️💀
Wow, even the Porch Bros are making the jump?
I saw a Svartpilen at a little local shop a couple of months back that made me turn around and go check it out. Very cooling looking little bike.
Svartpilen means black arrow in Swedish
I picked up a 2019 with black mags for u def $6k out the door. I love that thing. It rips, and it dives into canyons just fine
Whitney going solo??? Awesome. Instant subscription.
I don’t think she is, she’s had her own channel for a while. She’s free to do other videos with other content creators if she wants.
Seems the Site getting fired may have been a stunt we all fell for..
@@freebehindbars8654 he didn’t get let go on bad terms, I really hope we can see channel collab between the 2 tbh.
Ayyyye cool collaboration you guys! Super hype to see Whitt. Cool comparison!! And damnni like her bike more and more sad its discontinued....
You two have a great dynamic on camera. Hope it can happen again soon.
Any chance you can get your hands on a Vstrom 1050? Or even a 650. Like to hear your thoughts on that.
Awsome to to see you two hanging out for the day, great to have the two opinions.
Gotta watch the skies in Austin man, some crazy shit goes on down by ABIA.
Also I rode my 701 for 200mi today in the mountains and it only had 1 neutral first time shifting to 5th
Excellent video, great to see Whitney on the channel.
This is the only channel I don't skip ads in hopes of it earning him a little more at the end of the month
Couldn't agree more. I ride my 690smc in and around Switzerlands mountain roads. I never take it on the highway...
Great to see you guys out having a blast, great work 😃
SMCR is a road going SuMo.
Good seeing you two hanging out! Do more of that!
When everyone also realizes that everything they liked about "the other channel" was everything except the "yammie person".
I legit popped when I saw Whitney ! great video as always Spite!
great tp see Whitney on your channel. just subsrined to her's as well. keep up the good work
Outstanding video guys. Channel is blossoming and blooming well.
Saw the thumb and immediately knew it was Whitney's. Very cool to see you guys working together! Loving the channel, Spite
glad i get to watch this now since i’ll be taking my MSF tomorrow! great to see you team up with whitney for a collab.
That svartpilen is great! That design is something special 😺
Nice to see Whitney here! Y'all have a great back and forth. Another top notch video!
This was fun to watch! Keep doing what you doing your way!
My personal taste leans to the svart styling. Good colab guys, glad you're having fun. 🤘
I really dislike riding my Vit 701 but love the way it looks
That's cool of Whitney to offer to help ya out on comparisons. Excited to hopefully see that Low Rider S vid soon, been wanting to hear you talk about Harleys again lol
I have one word for this video:
WHITNEEEEEEYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!
Spite Rules!!!
O'Doyle rules
690 is pretty sick bike..... after you put PCV, foam air filter and open up exhaust.... and correct mapping....
Happy to see Whitney on this channel. Really enjoy Spite’s project.
Motorbikes at this price range (~10K) should have good readable TFT screens.
Another great video spite great to see Whitney 100k is coming soon 👍🏼👍🏼
Quite happy to see the pairing, my favorite part of the old channel.
This is perfect, I'm actually cross shopping these platforms! And no1 better than spite to do it. Keep uploading bro!!
Nice to see a comp video with little about the technical who-ha and a lot about how the bikes feel and how they ride. I liked both perspectives. Spite's got the everyman going on. He ain't no Noob lol
Another banger of a video spite! It's great to see Whitney rollin' with you again!
So good to see Spite and Whitney reviewing bikes together! I want ride a Svart now.😁
Those Supermotos (690 SMCR and the SM 701 from Husqvarna) are just hooligan machines. 😁
