So just buy a used sportster for 5k, 3.5k on hammer 100+HP kit. 1.5 k on suspension, brakes, tires and you have a 10k forever bike😂. Why can't they give the electric bike a two speed transmission like they do in rc cars/trucks?

The Africa Twin is unfortunately a very ugly bike in my mind, like most ADV, they all look the same and just ugly. The exceptions are the Pan Am, new R1350GS and the new Himalayan.

Interesting, but not for me, then I don't like automatics in cars either. I'm 61, been riding since I was a kid. I like changing gears, blipping the throttle on an aggressive down change, I won't even have a quick shifter on my bike. I only have one modern bike, a 2022 Pan Am, the army green version, and my other bike is an 1988 Low Rider Sport, hotted up these days and with a sidecar most of the time, I still love to ride it because it is very raw, no ABS or TCS. I love the Pan Am, I use it as a sports tourer and commuter in the city, I have taken it off road, but it is a bit heavy for off road.

Some science nerd thoughts for you here. That 8-10% reduction in sound that you quoted in the beggining of the video, I heard you refer to later on when referring to the exhausts flow/restriction. The aucoustic reduction and flow of the gasses through the exhaust are not correlated at all. The baffle works by creating reflections of the sound waves within the muffler. As these reflections bounce around and interfere with one another,. They can occaisonally add back up to their original sound energy at points (contrsuctive interference), but they just as often cancel one another out (destructive interference) and inso doing, become heat energy via friction. This destructive interference doesn't happen equally at all frequencies. It happens more at the higher frequencies which have shorter wavelengths. This has to do with the physical dimensions of the baffle, muffler, and the holes therein. One should note ht distinction between the traveling of acoustic waves through the exhaust gasses and the travel fo the actual exhaust gasses. One is happenning at 350ish meters per second, the other about ten times slower. Like waves in water, traveling faster than the water could ever flow. This is part of why the baffle isn't really that restrictive to flow. Next to think about is the human perception of sound. We are not fatigued by sound equally at all frequencies. We tolerate bass very well,piercing midrange and high sounds less so. That mic you used to measure sound may be regsittering peakes around the same level, but that sound energy may be all in the bass region. So the sound reduction achieved by that baffle might only be a 8% decrease in energy, but if the frequencies at which that energy was removed are all higher, the net effect will be great, even if the number on your sound meter doesn't show a big drop. To get a true idea of how that baffle changes the sound of your bike, you would need to get a real time analyzer for audio signals or software like REW and do an FFT with a USB mic while the bike ran. Long story longer, I'm glad the baffle helped salvage your purchase and you're enjoying the bike. I'm certainly enjoying the videos.

I test rode the FTR 1200 Sport a month ago and literally fell in love! Everything is exactly as it should be: power, power delivery (smooth but not boring), sound, vibrations, electronics (quite a few but not too much), handling, comfort (not track oriented, not boring everyday bike). And a real beauty! The only thing that was unpleasent was... its cost here in Europe. A possible FTR 900, more economic (in terms of cost, consumption, service), lighter and more nibble, but equally beautiful and well set-up... I would have bought it yesterday!

I have the SMC-R 2021. A few complaints; I come in hot and the front brake slows me down too much. I come in extremely hot. Same thing happens. 🤷 Leans too far. Wheelies easily coming out of corners 🤷 I the wet. It spins the rear tire before wheeling. 🤷 There's no throttle adjustment. It's either idling or wide open🤷 It is a little twitching over 110 mph. 🤷 I haven't been able to care less about the dash. Trip meter works, that's all I need. 🤷 TC turns off after holding the button 🤷 Those are my issues. Most of them can be "fixed" but I don't know how 😈 🤣

My ZX=14 would swallow the V Max as well as my buddy's 'Busa!

I have a Suzuki DR650 and I think it is better than a DRZ400 or KTM690. It's better than the DRZ400, because it's more powerful, lower seat height, and more reliable. It's better than the KTM 690, because it only cost me $4,000, and the reliability would be like comparing a Toyota Sienna to a Ford Windstar. I didn't have an oil leak from a prone to failure paper gasket until the bike was 15 years old and 10K miles. Spite did a great job explaining why the price for the KTM makes absolutely no sense.

I had a 690 Enduro R but now I bought it Yamaha TÉNÉRÉ 700 EXTREME Wow..that is an amazing motorcycle

Its over priced perfection. It's not a Ducati. It doesn't need all the fancy tech. It just needs to be fun. Street legal dirt bikes are the most fun you can have on 2 wheels and KTM is the only one making proper dual sports so sadly they get to pick their insane prices.

I love KLR’s it’s my favorite bike I’ve ever owned I went from a turbo hayabusa to a gen 2 KLR and I’ve had it ever since. Alex Chacón’s expedition south made me really want one and I don’t think I’ll ever be without one my gen 2 has 230,000 miles on it I bought it with 13,000 miles. It has never once left me stranded. Eventually I’ll retire the gen 2 maybe rebuild it for my son when he’s old enough and I’ll pickup a gen 3 here probably within the next year

Who has the best & easiest software or app to quickly edit? That’s the biggest time suck and headache once you stop recording

As you can guess from my name, I own a 2017 Tuono RR. This bike is nuts, beyond comparison. On the road neither a superbike nor a supermoto can outrun you. It radiates with godlike confidence in every situation. I got the suspension made to get everything out of it. Added to that, the sound. It's a symphony. I literally get goosebumps on every single tour. The nickname "Dark Thunder" is very fitting for what comes out of the exhaust.

I rented an Africa Twin DCT before i bought my manual ATAS. The biggest thing i did not like was the added weight and where it carried that weight. It felt a lot more top heavy than the regular Africa Twin and i did not like it.

Switched to the husq 701sm and never looked back

I wouldn’t mind having a dash cam like the one in my car. If something interesting happens you have already recorded it. Can give you help for insurance claims. Something that’s always set up and running. Usually crappy quality, though.
