    I live in Canada as well. I have been a subscriber for awhile. I ordered the wheel through the US site and saved a lot of money. Thank you for the tip and all the great advice.

    Great vid. This wheel uses ball bearings. That's why it's so quiet. I have used the small (8.2") and medium (10") sizes for my gerbils, often drilling holes in the platform and attaching it to the TOP of my cage or screen cover. They are easy to clean!! And the good thing is I've never had a gerbil chew the round piece with the logo. My smaller gerbils could not easily turn the 10" wheel just because it seems to weigh a lot. That's why I kept both sizes on hand. For my bigger gerbil, I use a 10" size in his Prevue Universal 528 Cage. He loves it! Now that I am using the Savic XL Gerbil Cage, the "gerbilarium," for my smallest gerbil, I can't fit any of these above the orange shelf. I have now gone to the Oxbox Enriched Life Small Pet 2 in 1 Quiet Runner Exercise Wheel which is slightly bigger than an 8" size which I can zip tie to the side of my gerbilarium. So far, so good! Thanks so much for this video. About 2 years ago when I found this Niteangel wheel, no one else had even heard of it!

    The wheel is around 30 dollars when you actually purchase in the U.S

    Do you find they like to run at full speed on the larger wheels? I know it's better for their backs, but is it small enough that they can get some good momentum? I am considering a new 9" wheel. The one that came with my gerbils is 6" and I didn't know it was bad, which had me shaking my head at myself. 😥 I've had them for a couple of weeks and they are only 3 months old so hoping no damage was done!

      @TheGerbilVine  Před 2 lety +2

      hey! thanks for watching. I do notice they don't run as fast, but they run for longer at a more steady pace. I'm glad you caught the mistake early and are thinking about upgrading. that is awesome :)

      @@TheGerbilVine thank you for replying! That's definitely something to consider. :) I am thinking in the wild they would have both periods of jogging while foraging perhaps and then sprinting when running from predators.

    Hi! I have the KayTee silent spinner 10 inch wheel. I am picking up my gerbils this week and want to be sure this type of plastic is ok? It's also not very silent haha so now I'm considering upgrading to the Niteangel 11 wheel instead, as long as it's not too large for very young gerbils. Also curious about the Nitangel Bendy Bridges. I got 2 of these and noticed they're held together by metal pieces... Do I need to be concerned that my new little guys will eat this metal?!

    • @TheGerbilVine
      @TheGerbilVine  Před 2 lety +1

      Certainly not a concern regarding the metal in the bridge, they won't eat it. Just be careful how it bends as there sometimes can be a gap where foot could get caught.
      For the wheel i think it would be okay, with plastic there's always a risk of chewing, but I agree with you the Kaytee wheel is not so silent!

    Hey I'm looking into getting gerbils after my hamsters pass and I was wondering if a bin cage will be a safe option with a good Ventilated lid😄 please tell me if you can😅 I'm a new subscriber and love your videos!😊

    • @TheGerbilVine
      @TheGerbilVine  Před 2 lety +3

      I personally wouldn't use any type of plastic as a permanent housing solution for gerbils, for risk of escape. They chew much more aggressively than hamsters, which is why glass tanks are the best. They can destroy thick pvc pipe, and can gnaw on flat walls. Some people may have success with bin cages and gerbils, but its not something I advise you to do, or would do myself. Hope that helps. Thanks for subscribing !

    Do you think they will chew it? My girbils love chewing and they chewed both of my plastic wheels

    • @TheGerbilVine
      @TheGerbilVine  Před rokem

      Hard to say as every gerbil is different. I've had 4 gerbils use the wheel and none of them have tried chewing it. I suppose it's always a risk, especially if yours have previously chewed two of your plastic wheels.

    • @joannasisemore7184
      @joannasisemore7184 Před rokem

      my robo hamster chews on it like crazy. the chewing is very noisy due to the hard plastic but the damage is a lot less since it is much harder to chew. there is a completely acrylic niteangel wheel that is really difficult to chew.
