- So minimal, yet SO capable. It may be clean on top of this desk, but there's a lot going underneath (not that you'd know it). Check out Ryan's dream desk setup. This desk DIY build was put together with content creation in mind, whether that's photography, video editing or audio engineering, this desk is up to the task. Check below for links to mostly everything you saw in the video.

Hey man. I'm a woodworker by trade, but caught your channel when I was looking around at desktop setups (I need a desktop for doing design and client management etc). Number 1 - the setup is sick. So clean and well done. Awesome work. Number 2 - your energy is inspiring. Yours is a pure example and reminder that the right work environment is paramount to remaining motivated. Thank you dude. Best of luck in what you do. 🎯
So refreshing to see a desk setup that is not a fashion statement! These days it all always seems to be about the specific very expensive brands used and all setups end up looking the same. Your setup is absolutely geared towards YOUR productivity requirements and that's great! Cable management is also a product of very careful planning and that also shows! Your love for what you do shines through and I thoroughly enjoyed this video, thank you!
Great content. Love the aesthetics, creative cost cutting and cool gear reviews. You are enthusiastic and upbeat without being obnoxious (not easy to do ). Subbed.
I like how you picked the equipment that you wanted not just picking the newest, coolest stuff that everybody has. Great production quality btw keep it up man 👍🏼
Thanks!
Yup, this is a DREAM. Absolutely nailed this design, Ryan. Like you, I've been mulling over a new desk set-up for a couple of years as well. Yours is 100% drool worthy. I should probably finish my ongoing dream shop first though. It's the final wiring/outlet and lighting set-up that I'm hung up on. 🙇♂️
Thanks! I figure this setup should last a long, long time, so I may as well try to get it right.
Oh man, anything electrical/wiring related sends me running in the opposite direction haha. I’m sure the shop is gonna be rad once it’s done!
@@runthejoules analysis paralysis! I woke up today jonesing to move onto my office though. Just keep thinking about this beautiful set up you've put together.
The hdr is beautiful. Make more vids like this. I feel so engaged.
Thanks! The hope is to put out the majority of our vids in HDR from now on.
Hey thanks took your ideas and ran with it, the finished product is stunning
Dude, This is the best setup I have ever seen. I need to work on mine. Keep up the good work
Thanks! Much appreciated.
Love the setup and the cord management. Nice work!
Thank you! Cheers!
This is something to aspire to! Well done and keep creating great content 🙂
Thanks Jason!
Such a gorgeous setup bruh
This is so sick 🔥Literally my dream
Great job as a producer myself, I understand the stress in trying to get that perfect desk set up.
Haha ya, it only has to be perfect at…everything.
CZcams needs more HDR content, I never knew how great HDR improved video until my macbook pro and this video lol
XPS 15 and my Pixel 6 Pro I enjoy so much because of the hardware features.
Haha glad the hassle was worth it!
Man, love your MTB channel and had no idea you did tech as well. Awesome 👏🙏👍
Beautiful setup!
Stunning job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of the best on CZcams!!! UpVoted!!! Thanks!
Wow, thank you!
I love that you upload in HDR. it's been so disappointing having a smart phone with an HDR display and hardly any actual HDR content being put out.
Glad you enjoyed it! Producing HDR content is incredibly difficult and I’m definitely just starting to learn the ropes. It’s good to see it’s being noticed :)
Great desk setup, love the cable management best I've seen on YT
Wow thanks! The cable routing video with all the specific details has just been released, if you're curious. czcams.com/video/bErJpKrEhzc/video.html
thats a music production setup dude 🔥🔥🔥😘
Congrats on the effort and results.
Thanks Ariel! It’s been about a month with this setup now and I’m loving it.
Man, that's a perfect setup right here! I just have to figure out how to squeeze a 61 key MIDI keyboard on there and I'm going to shamelessly copy your design, because it's awesome. Keep up the good work!
With a 79” desk, I’d say that keyboard would fit great!
Haha same…
Solid setup! Love the live edge!
Thanks! Nothings fallen apart yet, so we’re looking good! 😂
Bro so wild. I am building the same desk as you. I was searching to see if anyone else grabbed those live edge teak desktops from home depot and boom there you were. Hope you are still enjoying the build.
Beautiful setup, great job
Thank you! Cheers!
This is literally the setup I’m looking for! I need you to design my desk space 😆 I’m literally like this is it 👀 that’s the desk I been searching for and trying to achieve. A cableless looking setup for me please 😌
Sounds like you have good taste 😏
@@runthejoules 😏 Perhaps so, great minds think alike after all.
Bootyful setup. Envious my guy love it!
Awesome setup... good job!!!
Glad you like it!
Really Clean and Great look desk🍻
I came across this video and I’m like “is that the Loam Ranger!?” Really enjoyed this!
Haha surprise! Ya just can't get rid of me.
This is an impressively nice setup, I'm also wondering if my monitors are high up enough the way they are positioned now 🤔
RESPECT! ✊🏾
@runthejoules I love this series of videos.
Where do you (would you) put rack effects, KVM switches, Matrix Switchers, etc. (I run three machines all the time.) I'm going through planning out my dream setup, too.
Sick setup Ryan. And I thought I was the only one that didn’t like seeing cables. Got a ton of ideas including the task to check out remarkable 2 and I love bullet journaling. Two things I may share. Alfred launcher for Mac has calculator in line which is surprisingly easy as well as remembers historic clipboard choices. Additionally a monitor lamp. Benq makes a sick curved one but there are more affordable ones out there. That lighting source has been a game changer for me after switching to monitor arms. Anyway…back to enjoying looking at that wood grain. I have a carbon fiber looking top and would love to add that amount of warmth to my setup someday. Cheers!
Solid suggestions! Thanks Robb. The full cable routing video is up now, if you're looking for all the details.
@@runthejoules thx! Just watched that video after you mentioned. Looks really good. Curious if you ever get tired of hand cranking?
That desk is a vibe. Sub
Amazing vid good job!
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow very interesting you definitely got my attention cause I am redoing my setup and been watching alot
Of desk setup video and your video got my attention on some of your products
Also learn something new about where your speakers should be not on the desk like you said will add that to me setup
Thank for the video and I am a definitely subscriber. 😎👍
Thanks Jim! I hope the desk build went well for you.
Hello, Congratulations. Cool 👍
AWESOME 😎
That lamp is nice
Agreed. Nice and subtle on the desk.
Love the video yo, earned a sub immediately.
Thanks! Much appreciated.
dope set up...
Thanks 🍻
Hayo! Loved the video aswell the high quality! Just saw that this one is 3 months old and saw that there is no new upload for the cable management:(.. will it come?
Sweeeeet setup!
Thanks!
Would love to see the cable routing video if you’re still planning on making it.
Also, could you please link to the speaker stands & foam underneath them?
Great custom and unique build. Love it.
Speaking stands look like galvanized piping from Home Depot that he spray painted black. If you check out the other video where he talks about the desktop, towards the end you see him spray painting the pipe. Probably just a small piece of painted plywood on top and then some basic foam. Looks great though.
@@Raaaaaazr Thank you. Super helpful. Just saw the other video where he shows it at the end.
The full cable routing video with all the details has (finally) been released! czcams.com/video/bErJpKrEhzc/video.html
I really like your keyboard, mouse and calculator. Could I get any information about these, by any chance?
Very true re the speaker setups...I heard that same thing from one of the masters at sterling sound new york...
It really does make a big difference. Hopefully it catches on!
Great job on this setup! I would love to hear your thoughts on going from a 5K retina screen on the iMac Pro to this QHD Benq ultrawide? Does the lower PPI and scaling in MacOs not bother you?
The lower PPI is definitely noticeable in a web browser. For whatever reason, it doesn't look bad at all in my editing software (Davinci Resolve), so I'm happy about that!
Great vid thanks for sharing! What are u using for storage and back up?
I use a couple of Western Digital SSD’s for the files I’m working on, then a Dropbox/Drobo setup for backups.
Nice 👌🏽
this video makes me so happy. a lot of times i'll see setups n stuff that ultimately end up as "look at this very expensive thing" and "the same 12837489543th configuration of ikea parts" but this video has so much custom work, creativity and overall just passion for the things that have gone to make this setup unique. genuine excitement to share the elements present and whearas the handcrank is going to be seen from others as "ugh i cant just press a button and it does it for me, how lame" there's a unique reasoning as to why its a good thing
aswell as admitting that it's not going to be the final form of it, cuz same as the person's needs and interests, its always changing, whereas a lot of people are quick to say this is "the perfect" or the "ultimate" setup, which comes off as cringe lol
just outright lovely execution on your masterpiece
That's so kind of you! After ten months of hard use, the desk is still going strong, so taking the time during the planning stage seems to be paying off. Cheers
Great Video! Thx! Couldn't find the laptop & tabled stand in your description - can you add ist please? :D
Really nice desk.
I'd look at your Interbuild-Link and found that the product you'd linked are not exist anymore. Is this Product similar, or differ it in any way from the one you choosed?
I am wondering about the color of your desk, and the images from the manufacturer. Your's looks warm with a redish color, but on Interbuild it looks more yellowish.
Did you use a clear Hardwax Oil, or a colored one?
As you are an professional Photographer... could you be so kind to share some more Images from the Desk (maybe with dailight, and without ambient-light) so that we can see, what exactly the Countertop looks like?
Thanks in advanced.
Just very curious about the sliver box with swiveled buttons in each side. Does that sounds controller or macro pad or something?
❤CRAZY GOOD 👍🏻
this is a DREAMY SET UP!!!! may i ask what you use for your speaker risers?
Its tricky because I picked up the pipes and flanges for the speaker stands from my local hardware store and painted them. I’m gonna track down some equivalent products online that I’ll link to in the cable routing vid, but for now I can tell you at they’re 6”x1” metal pipe with flanges to go with them. I degreased them and sprayed them matte black. The platforms are just cheap 1/2” cuts of wood that I also sprayed matte black. More info to come!
@@runthejoules oh dang a DIY stand! should’ve known with the desk being pretty DIY too. it looks great and functional! thank you for the info though. staying tuned ☺️
nice
You said doo doo, 😂😂. But seriously, that just looks clean and sharp.
When do you plan on releasing the cable management part of the video?
Unreal set up! Just wondering what brand that phone charger is? I’ve been looking for something similar for my setup
Thanks! I can't seem to find the exact one on the US site, but I ordered this one from the Canadian Amazon store: Boaraino 3 in 1 Charger Stand Charging Station
Awesome setup Ryan, but what headphones are those!?
Thanks! Those are AKG K240 Studios 🤌
We would love to make you a custom high end mechanical keyboard that fits perfectly into your desk setup - hit us up!
I mean…that sounds amazing. Haha Thanks!
couldn't find the name of the laptop stand in the description, do you mind telling me where i can get it? :)
Great way to save a ton of money and have in the end same or better build quality. Great job. I like table lantern, what it is?
Absolutely. That lamp is from Lofree: bit.ly/3IcuCbm
@@runthejoules Great thanks. Is even not as pricey as i did expected.
What’s that charging dock you use for your iPhone and AirPods?
Dr Strange would say this about Cable Management..... This is the End Game.
where did you get the lamp? i need one!
Can you do a video on how you cable managed your desk?!
The cable routing video has finally been released! czcams.com/video/bErJpKrEhzc/video.html
Do you have any guidance for how you connected the screws to the desk? Did you use pre-drilled holes? Was the screws that came with the desk enough?
Fortunately the Fully legs came with the right screws for the job. I did pre-drill the holes to make sure there wouldn't be any splitting. No issues!
@@runthejoules awesome, thank you. You did not have to use any sort of anchors? Just pre-drills and off to the races?
Solid wood does help
🔥🔥🔥
DREAM SET, just one thing, what about the chair? could you tell wich one are you using? thanks in advice!
Thanks! And yep, the chair details are in the video, but here’s the quick rundown:
Herman Miller Aeron Remastered, size C
@@runthejoules aight! thanks again :)
still waiting for cable management video!
😆 he said "do do"
Where is the cable mgmt video?
What about the lamp on the desk?
Where can I download that wallpaper?
Do you not have user interface lag when connected to the external monitor working with Premiere Pro? I have that problem and it's very annoying.
We only use Davinci Resolve for all our video work. Never had an issue with lag before. That does sound *very* annoying.
Nice setup.
Fyi your face looks very over-saturated and orange in SDR, however in HDR everything looks amazing. Great audio quality as well -- your voice has that nice bass sound without sounding mucky.
Secondly, I appreciate that this isn't some meme setup with unnecessary accessories and cliche decorations just for the heck of it.
what color of paint is your wall
Good lucking setup. Really only works for the apple guys and non gamers.
How so? You could put a tower below pretty easily.
@@runthejoules you're assuming that the only machines are towers haha. My PC has same footprint as your MacBook and dock. It's more about the monitor and peripherals. That is not a monitor that is for gaming and it's only one.
What are the speaker stands ? Do you have a link? Thanks
Its tricky because I picked up the pipes and flanges from my local hardware store and painted them.
Thanks for the info. They look great!
Who makes your orange Apple Watch band?
I guess I need to do a better job color grading because that strap is yellow 😂 It’s an OEM series 7 strap from Apple.
@@runthejoules At minute 3:34 it looks Orange lol either way sick. However at 3:06/07 I can clearly tell its yellow.
No link to the lamp???
The lamp is part of the Lofree kit 👍
Lamp????
You forgot to link the speed editor
Hey, which Deskmat is that?
That one’s part of the Lofree kit!
@@runthejoules Thank you!
Side note: Your setup imo is the best i've seen and i'm using your videos on "building a cable free wire build" as a reference to my build!
where is the cable management video?
It’ll be out in a couple of weeks. Too many projects on the go!
I didn't know you were doing this channel as well. Props to you. I've been watching your mtb videos for years.
On my monitor your HDR color tones seem to be off. Your face looks blotchy. I don't notice this on other HDR videos.
2:53 your monitor got shy 😅
Haha you had ONE job, monitor!
Imagine if either one of the setup stops working
lost me at : has uhhh BLUE SWITCHES innit... lmfao that keyboard sounds like ur typing on aluminum foil 🤣🤣🤣
Haha I love it! Sounds better in person, I guess. What’s your keyboard preference?
@@runthejoules deeper keycaps that trap the sound and offer ergonomic advantages to your typing through their profile, I think DSA keycaps are a good profile for most people but Im trying out some of the mt3 keycaps which are much taller. In terms of switches id suggest good tactiles if you type a lot, and with a better sound profile then blues. What helps have a much more satisfying sound would be a high profile keyboard, not a flat one like you have but with good keycaps and switches even a flat one can sound good, but you would have to stay away from clicky seitches like the blues. Maybe boba U4t would be good if you do enjoy tactile or glorious pandas or drop holy pandas if you have the budget.
@@runthejoules Btw I commented that earlier comment because blue switches are the most hated/disliked switches and they always get ranked as the worst feeling and sounding switches and they generally have pretty pad production quality because they are on the cheap side of things.
You spend sleepless nights trying to figure out the perfect desk set up? Weird flex but ok. Cool desk set up though. Nice work.
Haha well, not ALL night, but there were plenty of hours lost to "how am I going to make *this* work??"
Wondering why every desk setup on CZcams is geared toward equipment for making videos, then I remembered….
setup looks sacred
ear fatigue lol
Why the hell does every CZcamsr think they need to put their camera on their desk for these videos, lol. It's so pretentious. My camera definitely doesn't live on my desk.
Well, as I said, that's my personal camera. And I love that thing. If you want to talk about my work cameras, those are all on shelves around my office.
The sound of that keeb is disgusting.
