So what is the difference on a Premium membership and Channel membership, why would I want to purchase another one? Also the premium have been a bit of let down this year with almost no content.
Do you miss Jaime?
Why is this called "tested"?
You never test anything.
you all probably dont give a shit but does someone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account?
I was stupid lost my login password. I would love any tips you can give me.
@Remy Conner instablaster =)
Man, when Adam said “I miss him” I felt that viscerally.
Hayden Weir me too! Thought I was the only one. Just the way he said it almost to himself.
Gone but not forgotten
When it said it, no joke, a tear fell.
When I learned of Grant's passing, it was a gut punch. Even as just a devoted Myth- busters fan, it was: "No, not Grant! He's too alive to be gone." I too, could feel Adam's flinch. It's comforting to know the persona we saw on the show was truly Grant.
Thanks so much for sharing this anecdote, Adam.
Yes, "visceral" is the word. Someone I never met personally, that I knew so little about. And still, when I learned of his passing had a very real tightening of the chest.
Some people are just that special. They leave their mark not only in our fleeting bit of history, but also in our hearts.
"Grant *was* hilarious." It never sets in until the past tense comes up.
I agree 100%. It's still jarring and heartbreaking when Adam says, "Grant was..."
Right? I literally had to google to understand why the past tense.... I had no idea :(
The past tense gets me every time too.
Yep...same. The *was* hits you with a couple of secs of delay...
I didn't know him outside of shows he was in such as Myth busters, the Netflix series he was in, and Star Trek continues fan series on youtube.
If any of you are trekkies might want to check it out as he did a really great Sulu, I think he was one of the best sulus ever.
He alone would have made the kelvin timeline trek worth watching.
My heart broke when I heard he died. Grant, Tory, Kari, Jamie and Adam were a huge part of my childhood, so to see one of them go, and go so early... It was the first celebrity death that I really felt something.
Other than kobe and prince yes It was one the few childhood idols that passed recently. I know prince was a few years ago but still.
Jamie died too. She was going for the land speed record
Edit: not Jamie, I meant Jesse. The blonde girl that did all the mechanic work on the show
@@ryanespinoza7297 I heard about that just recently, actually. I went to go watch an old episode from around that time and saw people commenting about it. That was really rough, as well.
Fr bruh. That hit hard.

i clicked like immediately because of the jamie mustache thumbnail
stlchevy95 same
Me too
All fans of MB know when Adam is gesticulating like that, it means only one thing!
Yeeeeeees
🙋same
The fact that Grant came up with the "Jamie finger mustache" changes my entire view somehow :D
Amazing that Adam and others were using it on the show before we saw grant on camera. Was he already one of the background workers?
@@Chace957 Yeah I think the B team were all background workers before they were made mythbusters in season 2
@@DrMonty-ng5fo Also, even before they joined Mythbusters, various members of the crew had kind of been colleagues--Grant went up against Adam and Jamie on BattleBots a few times, for example.
@@dannijo1772 There's a picture I love in a behind the scenes Star Wars artbook I read as I kid that I can't remember the name of, that shows Adam and Tory together working on the Jedi Temple, and it's always stuck with me to see two of my heroes working on a thing I love from a film I have great nostalgic memories of. I believe the same book had a picture of Grant and Tory tweaking something on Artoo.
Hearing that grant died made half our service department stop for a minute. Hearing that it wasn't an army of robots that killed him.... truly surprised us. He was a genius and is missed.
That’s the kind of humor he would’ve absolutely appreciated. What a Loving tribute.❤
That last line wrecked me.
"I m i s s him."
I read a comment about it before I watched the whole thing and I didnt expect the word miss to be so pointed, direct, and sad. That shit hurts to hear
I immediately burst into tears.
Here’s the line if you didn’t catch it 11:46
Same
@@sammythewhammy69 I didn't realize the emotional investment i had until I too burst into tears.
"When you are a maker, one of the things you make is noise"
True words.
@Colin Deal Yes officer, I know not to run the angle grinder at 1 am.
@@Oddman1980 Better yet, invest in some insulation and sound proofing. When you work/live in a place where everybody can hear everybody elses conversations it's a pretty miserable experience for all involved.
"I love thinking about that guy. I miss him." I felt that in my soul. That's exactly how I feel when I think about my best friend, who passed over ten years ago. I'll always be sad that he's gone, but remembering him and all the good times we had together is always a pleasure. May Grant's memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
Adam failed to mention he was wearing a dinosaur costume at the Royal Albert Hall when he bombed. (Didn’t bomb by the way, it was just fine)
Ha! You were there, then?
Adam Savage’s Tested indeed my good man.
How is the only reply to this from adam savage

@@Gondamar no, you!
Thanks for that Grant Imahara story, I know the way I feel when I hear his name isn't... what you feel, when you remember your friend. But I miss him, and thank you for reminiscing with such joy.
Jamie Scuba Diving is pure art
I'm wondering if Jamie's mustache has achieved sentience or Jamie just has surprising muscle control.
@@tiacho2893 it's a symbiote
@@tiacho2893 it's impossible to tell who's behind the wheel there.

Adam is such a genuine person so that “I miss him” hits very hard because you know adam means every ounce of it
3:00 If it's not answered later in the Q&A... it's Boiled Linseed Oil that generates heat as it dries and will spontaneously combust if the rags are put in a confined space (like a trashcan).
Ah, the sweet sweet smell of BLO
Thats why I keep TWO fire extinguishers in my garage. One near each entrance.
And my trash can is a retired ammo can... For very large ammo.
Raw linseed oil will as well. I've also heard of fires starting from bad mixes of polyester resin after cleanups.
Linseed/flax oil in general, it's not specific to the boiled variant. Worth keeping in mind.
all linseed oil, I'm an oil painter and We were taught that our oily rag needed to be disposed of in a special fireproof container made for oil rags or in a jar submerged in water. Not that I worry about that because my paint rags are never saturated with paint and I tend to let them dry flat so I can reuse them during my next painting session.
"I miss him"
I do, too. And in the Battlebots universe, and everywhere else.
Rest in Peace, Mr. Imahara.
You were a brilliant light, and gone far too soon.
I think we all miss Grant. You're SO LUCKY to have worked with him, both at ILM and on Mythbusters! Wish I had those memories to relive.
RIP Jessi Combs and Grant Imahara. I remember watching Jessi on extreme 4x4 . Fastest woman on 4 wheels. I'll never forget growing up and watching them during my highschool years.
Oh damn, I didn’t know she passed as well. That’s very sad.
You can tell that Grant was loved by his Mythbusters colleagues by how choked up and hesitant Adam was to talk about him....total class act!
It will be painful for a long time
The "Jamie Surprised" impression makes me giggle like Anderson Cooper. I miss him. Happy birthday Grant.
The Jamie Scuba Diving one got an absolutely massive laugh out of me.
Grant may be gone, but he's still making us all bust a gut.
Never would have thought I would hear Adam savage say "I listen to Billie eilish"
Somehow I absolutely saw it coming lol
Billie Eilish becoming the quintessential middle aged man's pick.
I know I only knew Grant by the Mythbusters, but growing up as a kid the show, and Grant the electrical engineer, meant a huge deal to me as I was also aspiring to be one. I was rewatching old mythbusters when the news broke that Grant sadly passed away, and this is the first thing I have been able to watch since that has mentioned him in any way. The impact of Grant and all the MB team will be lasting for decades to come.
I honestly cried when I heard the news. I think he's the first celebrity I heard about where it was a shock and made me emotional when it happened. I'm happy there's good stories out there about him.
I sometimes find it hard to think about people who have passed and I intentionally avoid the subject of people who have passed in the lives of others. But Adam very strongly reminds me of the idea that you don't die until people stop saying your name and telling your stories. I don't know if I'll ever change but I do know that I'd like to take part in keeping good people alive.
Thank you Adam for the Grant personal moment reveal...
I didn't know about the mustache joke being Grant's, I'd have settled for that alone. Thanks Adam
I saw the thumbnail and instantly thought of him mocking Jamie, such good times.
The talking mustache
I only ever saw Grant on television. I miss him too.
I used to see Grant on Mythbusters and always think that he was a true genius, be a kid on those days and watch on tv people so talented was really inspirational.
We miss him!! The way you talk about Grant; will keep him alive in our memories!!
The question about projects that made your neighbors hate you... I am reminded right away of the Mythbusters episode where you guys were putting ball bearings in the dryer to try to tenderize steaks. 🤣
I was reminded of the one where they shot a cannon through someone's roof. >_>
I am reminded of the one where they buried a dead pig under the asphalt.
What about the soldiers marching across a bridge in the first season?
Esparto? Knock your socks off?
All of these are good examples, but the steak tenderizing episode was worst in my mind cuz they let the dryer run all night. The other episodes at least happened during business hours 😅
Jamie scuba diving - LOL! Miss you Mr. Imahara...
2:55 Any drying oil, such as linseed oil, perhaps also tung oil can make rags spontaniously combust.
Though other light oils are also a risk. They may not do it spontaniously, but they need only a very little push to start burning.
The Rally in DC was so fun! I remember when you and Jamie tried to have us all jump at the same time to see if we could be measured on the Richter scale. We didn't, as I recall, but it was still fun to participate in. What a cool event.
I didn’t see that you posted this months ago. I was thinking of recent news lol
I was there too! It was a load of fun.
Rest in Peace Grant Imahara, you will be greatly missed
"I miss him." I felt that. You can tell Adam was a true friend. Adam excellent content with the current situation, I salute you!
Thank you for the Grant story, the turn away from the camera moment at the end really put a lump in my throat.
Mythbusters suddenly popped into my head and within moments I was crying like a baby about Grant, he left a huge impression on me in my formative years I just can't believe he's gone
The way Adam takes a drink, looks off to the side in a way all of us who have lost someone special viscerally understand, and then collects himself to tell a story about a dear friend. It’s beautiful…
2:58
Drying oils such as linseed, walnut or tung oil.
When they dry or cure, , they produce heat.
So sad, prayers for Grant's eternal soul.
"You're just gonna reply to him? Like he's a person?"
xD
As both a consummate creator and ingenuous person, Grant represented the understated very best of what humanity is capable of and his absence is an indescribable loss and I can't imagine how his family and close friends must feel about his passing.
Aside from you being my favorite mythbuster because your personality matched my own, I loved your goofiness, Grant was always a close second as I always had a fascination for robotics. I will never forget the impact Mythbusters had on my life, and for that I say thank you, and Rest in Peace Grant, you absolute madlad.
Edit: I was almost bawling my eyes out as I wrote this.
I'm crying in my online class now, I miss Grant. He was such a wonderful person. 😭😔✊
I have been sampling the artists that Adam spit out at around the 2 minute mark and I’m loving it. It makes me want an Adam Savage makers play list. Please do an Adam Savage Makers play list. PLEASE!
I heard those names for the 1st time, different generation, other part of the world as well...
I think music recommendations are the only thing I don't want from adam.
Oh god please no
Very eclectic
I only found out today that grant died breaks my heart with the “I miss him.” At the end
the more "ask"s i binge, the more i realize how full of love you always speak about people. everyone is on your eye level. you admire and appreciate everyone and it seems to me like completely natural unscripted love of yours towards people. i so much enjoy how you think and speak about people.
You guys got me into science. Grant turned me into a geek in the best kind of way. I just got my dream job at a lab in an Ivy League college. They’re really happy to have me and I have a lot if opportunity to move up. I say this because I barely graduated high school and never went to college. I’m able to do this job because i learning about science from people like you and grant. You guys are so important
Can totally see Grant doing the scuba diving Jamie and I cant stop laughing! Thank you for not being afraid to share about him and letting us see people feeling grief, I feel this is just hidden topic in the world!
R.I.P. Grant, such a decent human, from all I've seen.
Adam you inspire me. Not just to think critically and be a good scientist, but also to stay humble and kind. The way you speak about other people reminds me that its not just what we do that matters, but also who we befriend whilst we get there.
Loved it when Jamie was in the fire suit, and says I like it in here kinda private!!
I had to hold my tears by the end... with a smile.
One of my favorites ones was the Tory impression: "I have to weld something" xD
"I love thinking about that guy" sounds like the best way someone can remember you
I loved that on Craig Ferguson's late night talk show his mechanical sidekick Geoff was created by Grant!
RIP, he was one of my inspirations and is a part of why I'm in engineering today. The last line of the video hit pretty hard
Grant is a missed character in so many people's lives even if we didn't know him personally... just like Jessi Combs
That was a rough one too when Jessi went. The world is so much worse off without the talents and personalities of those two awesome human beings
With the utmost respect to the friends, family, and loved ones of both Jessi and Grant, I think given the circumstances of the death of both, Grant's was a bit more tragic. With Jessi, even it sounds pithy or like a platitude, she at least went doing what she loved, and that hopefully brought some, no matter how small, amount of comfort to those she left behind. With Grant, it's such a random, unpredictable, largely unavoidable event that there's little you can even say about it. There's no lesson to be learned from his passing, if that makes any sense.
The Mythbusters were such a great collection of characters. The programme was a big part of most of our lives and I personally miss it greatly. Grant was such a tragic loss.
The streaming service I have shows Grant, Jessi, and Tory as the still for season six. Grant and Jessi look so relaxed and confident and happy in their work and the sun.
Its amazingly heart warming while overwhelmingly heart breaking hearing you talk about grant. I like many others grew up with you guys in our lives. He will always be missed and thank you for sharing. I know its not easy.
Thank you for sharing a fun Grant story. I think we will all miss him he brought such joy into the lives of so many people. I actually went and started rewatching all of Mythbusters recently and you can tell he must have been an absolute joy to work with. Thanks again for sharing another fun moment from him!!
I always thought he would have been a ton of fun to work with. He could make friggin anything work, and had a kinda wholesome but maniacal thing going on that was just so entertaining
I recently found this channel. I have been binge-watching for two days. What stands out to me is seeing the passion in Adam's in his eyes. And that statement towards the end that others here have mentioned really tugged at my heart.
I clicked on this video to leave a massage for myself, because I don’t feel I’ll be able to watch this video without tearing up, or just flat out ugly crying yet. At some point, some time from now, this will pop up in my suggested video, as it has for 3 months now, and I will try and brave it. But it is not that day today.
I don't know if you've watched this yet, but I found it cathartic. No pressure, but listening to someone who misses Grant is kinda beautiful.
@@josephfuller272 I haven’t, but I think it’s time. Thank you for your earnest reply, and for the gentle reminder.
It's sad that my favorite show of all time, Mythbusters, had two of its stars die. I didn't know him personally like you did, Adam, but when Grant Imahara passed away it was sad. A great man, a maker, and a great thinker .... he's gone. No one can ever replace him.
Grant Imahara is sorely missed. Gone way too soon. Not even 50 years old. Absolutely terrible and incredibly tragic. RIP Grant
Thank you for sharing such emotional memories with us. Finding out about Grant's passing was a horrible moment, but it's comforting to know he is remembered so fondly by his friends and coworkers.
We all miss Grant. If there was ever anyone taken too soon, its most absolutely definitely Grant Imahara.
Jessi Combs too.
I only ever knew Grant in that weird parasocial way, but I miss him too. I wish I could have met him because he was one of my inspirations for getting into robotics.
Grant was taken from us far too young.
IMHO he absolutely nailed the role of Sulu in Star Trek Continues.
Grant is a beloved person that that brought life and laughter to eve try thing he has done and people he’s worked with. You will be missed, but always remembered fondly.
Thanks for the smile about Grant, makes me laugh thinking about him doing the scuba
I remember an episode of Mythbusters about the 'fastest gun' involving rapid revolver firing. Your team's rig was firing outside to the point that your neighbours came out to vocally complain...
The oil is linseed oil on cotten/linen rags...
Last thing, it appears you and I share similar music tastes.... keep on playing.... :)
Your videos from tested are really helping stay sane in these strange times. Love your stuff.
LOL. The walrus was Grant’s 😀😀 that’s brilliant. Thanks for sharing Adam.We miss him too.
Absolutely pumping out the uploads. Keep it up please mr savage:)
I had a Japanese teacher who claimed they were Grant’s adoptive sister or something. They only told the story once and I never did a follow up. If it’s true I hope she is okay rn.
Thank you for sharing the story of Grant.
Being a naturally good listener is a rare and beautiful trait. I often catch myself not actually listening but rather thinking about my own next response. Really paying attention to what someone is saying and then taking a bit of time to mull it over before responding is so important.
I never would've thought that Grant came up with the finger mustache.
Idk if that's you in your avatar but I just wanna say your really pretty

As important as everyone was to the show, it’s just so clear to me that when Grant joined MB his talent and personality helped the show find it’s rhythm and episodes got really good for next several years
Love you, man. Thanks for all the feelz. ♥️
RIP Grant, Godspeed on your trip through the universe.

we all do buddy, we all do.
The additional Jamie Mustache movements have me crying over here, lol! I can just imagine Grant doing that. An entire world of nerds miss that amazing fellow.
We miss him, too. Thanks for the memories.
I miss him to Adam you will be sorely missed and grieved and loved Grant was always a light to all of us
My dad sold Adam a painting done by his father, Whitney Savage, awhile back: someone's "Ghost" if I remember correctly. Adam, perhaps you've already done this, but It would be really cool to reflect on your dad's work!
Haha I was in the crowd at the Royal Albert Hall and remember you walking off and having to come back on stage to do the introductions. You covered it up well! I just assumed it was a mis cue by the production crew.
I don’t remember your jokes, but I do remember the crowd thinking.”who is this guy?!?” When you came out into the stage in your first of many cos plays!
My favorite video so far. Thanks Adam
I was at the Royal Albert Hall with you at Michaels birthday celebration. It was an amazing night and was great to see you in the flesh, I never noticed that you forgot your lines, I think most people there were in awe of all the famous people especially you. Huge Mythbusters fan, you could have stood there all evening without saying anything and it would still have been a great night. Really wish you could revisit MB. Much love from England.
Boiled linseed oil can self combust which has burned down quite a few workshops and houses over the years.
For the first question, the episode of Mythbusters that had the dead pigs in the car had to disturb the neighbors.
They tested firearms and explosives on a number of occasions, so yeah, the neighbors weren't very happy with them. There was a scene where Tory got yelled at because supposedly no one told the neighbor that they would be testing firearms.
Thank you for sharing Adam! Stay safe big guy!
I really respected how you were refusing to name names and respecting people private life.
And then you remembered and shared “Jamie scuba diving” and I lost it. Actual laughing so hard it hurt.
I can’t imagine the loss you feel, except that it must be at least 1000000x the loss the rest of us feel. But still, thanks for sharing that memory.
Jamies kelp forest has me on the floor laughing liturarly 🤣
Time seams to move by quicker when there are less big events in your life.
"Jamie surprised"!!!! OMG, I fell to the floor!!!
Listening to songs all repeat for hours at end while hyperfocusing on a task all day and al night long? One of the most distinct adhd things, you’re an inspiration!
