    I’ve watched a lot of wood spirit videos over the last couple of days, and this one has many of the same steps as the others ones, but done in a way that is much more straight forward and understandable, thank you! I could see this as being my go to video for making wood spirits in the future,

    I was just thinking about your channel yesterday, nice to see you back.

      @KevinCoates98  Před 5 lety

      Thanks Denis, I haven’t had much time to do videos lately. I’ve been flat out carving trying to fill orders. I had lots of troubles doing eyes first when I started carving. I would take scrap pieces of wood and do eyes over and over. It do get a little easier in time. The weather hasn’t been great. Colder than usual but I’m not complaining.

    • @KevinCoates98
      @KevinCoates98  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks. The knife I use for detail is a flexcut roughing knife. Sharpening knives take lots of practice the same as carving does. I’ve been at it for 20 years and I’m still learning carving skills and how to keep my knives sharp. The best advice I can give is just keep at it.

    I found two Chicago Cutlery kitchen knives on Walmart internet. Wood handles. One straight with a shorter blade and one with a finger guard, it was a meat carving knife. I ordered them. Will cut the blades shorter to carve wood with. I think the blades are carbon steel. They look like Kevin's carving knives he made from fishing knives.

  • @bobsrustandsawdust8086
