Super simple tutorial taking the basic mushroom to a whole new level by combining it with a woodspirit! #carving #woodcarving #whittling #woodspirit #mushroom
Well, I love those and thought I'd try. I got these tools for Christmas and needed to try. So, I got the hat done and cut my palm. Thank God I had the glove on. What a mess lol. I'm ok but will try again tomorrow. Thanks for your instruction. Blessings
Love these lil mushrooms :>) A tip i have heard draw or tape out a square on table so you can tell when your hands go out of shot:>) Great job on your demonstration I am going to have a lot of these guys around now:>)
Dang I had to try that it came out very good I had a rotten knot in my chopping block of oak I glued my fun guy lol in knot I hollowed out Sorry about fungi joke couldn’t resist it. 👍🇮🇹🐾🦊🍄
I really like this little guy and I have a stripped poplar piece that this would be perfect to try on! I’m still working on fine tuning details and this looks like a good one to try. Thank you! Some of the face carving was off camera, but it doesn’t look to difficult to figure out the cuts.
To sand in awkward places I use lollipop sticks with sandpaper wrapped around I often whittle the stick to shape depending on how awkward place is cocktail sticks are great too I carved them made daisies painted up look fantastic. Definitely a bird puller too lol bonus 👍🇮🇹🐾🦊😏
Np dude I like to share my ideas I prefer a Barlow pocket knife for carving must have two blades large and small I find rough rider pocket knives are cheap and the best can get razor sharp edge shcrade are great too try them out as I’m broke too thought this information will help you out flexcut are good but over priced 👍🇮🇹🐾🦊
As a beginner I love this instruction. Also love to see you use Wood we Can find in our garden / Woods. I’m from Denmark.. we do not find basswood around, so I thank you. Best regards Esben Back, Denmark.
I love these little mushrooms. What sort of wood are you using there. Could you recommend a type of wood for beginners who want to tey this. Cheers mate 👍
Very nice! I love the wood spirit and mushroom combination. What do you use for the antiquing wash? And can you put a lacquer over the antiquing wash? Great job with the tutorial!
On one I used Folk Art Antiquing Medium and another was a washed down dark brown acrylic both work fine to bring out the carving but obviously the antiquitg medium gives it a bit more effect . And yes a lacquer and most other finishing mediums would work fine, just avoid anything water based as that would dilute the paint. Thanks for watching 😊
Do you need to be concerned with the core of the tree your carving on when it dries? I have found that leaving the core often but not always results in the item splitting down the road. Your thoughts on this?
I thank you for posting this craft, but I was frustrated by the camera position as every time you would go in for a cut you would naturally pull the work in closer to yourself and right out of the bottom of the camera shot. Something to think about for the next one.
They're made by Blackrock and I get them from my local tool shop, they're pretty cheap, just as a warning though they've lately been stocking some which have a black grip instead of grey and they aren't as good, try them in store for fit and size and make sure they are a high cut level.
Search chef gloves or cooking gloves. I found some real nice slice proof gloves with grips on them, they're advertised for kitchen work. I'll tell ya, they work amazing. Otherwise I'd be missing a digit or 2. Lol.
Hey Dave, i like watching your vid's but its frustrating watching and not seeing what your doing as your hands are out of shot, need a bit of adjustment there, cheers andy
Great job but alot of the carving we couldn't see it was off camera. Keep them coming.

could you back camera out next time so we can see what your doing.
I love your videos but this one you were out of frame during your final detailing. Great work.
Thanks you very much, I will do a follow up at some point when I figure out how to get better focus on the detailing without wandering off 👍
Just found you, what carving knives do you recommend?

Nice but you need better camera skills. Keep your carving in frame please.
Can't see a lot of what's going on out of frame a good bit
Where did you source your flex cut knife?
Axminster tools, its a UK based online and physical shop that sells a huge array of gear at good prices, well worth a look!
@@SpoonsandSpirits you’re not wrong, thanks.
What gloves do you use? Where do you buy them?

Thanks for the feedback, your not the first to bring this up so I'm looking into a different way of shooting, cheers!
Keep the carving on camera
This looks like a ddalo carving…
Супер🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Para empezar
A lot of your face cuts were cut off by the bottom of the screen. Need a better camera angle.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll try and alter it for the next one 👍
