    Cool video. What I like most about your video was that it was very personal, raw and just authentic unlike news productions or corporate propaganda. Every time I visit both of these places, I love them even more but I also appreciate life in the West for the simple things such as hospitals, roads and clean public transport. These three is where West is such enjoyable place but Africa is more relaxed, humble and stress free life. Even the air is better in Africa. Much love to #Ethiopia and #Somaliland.

      I'm sorry 1961? Where did you get this from? The whole snm movement didn't even exist untill the 80s. Stick to facts and not emotions. Sland declared its independent in 1991 even when snm movement was started they were talking about saving the somali people from the dictatorship. That is why it's called the SOMALI National Movement and not Somaliland national movement. Ps the name never changed it's was always the somali republic and then somali democratic republic during the military era, it's just some individuals start calling it Somalia because it was easier to say. FYI the south was also called Somaliland and so was djoubti but you don't see them trying to revive a colonial name.

      By the ways whites did not divide Somalis, in fact they brought Somalis together and created Somali nations, there was no Somali nation before the colonials . Just a bunch of opposing clans with no administration .

    • @naimaahmed2604
      @naimaahmed2604 Před 7 lety +3

      Yusuf Jama, right, no Somali language before the colonialists, no Islam before colonialism, the colonial borders were always there, they were not made by the colonialists. Oh also the colonialists were not really colonialists. They were just tourists traveling around like this cadaan guy. In the reply, I wanna see a long letter to you master the English for traveling to ur country and spending so much money especially fighting the Seyidka, who was fighting for north Somalia not for all of Somalia.

    • @naimaahmed2604
      @naimaahmed2604 Před 7 lety +4

      On a serious note, Somali unity is not something foreign that was invented by the cadaan. This is what the separatist want you to think. Every Somali is considerate about his fellow Somali. Weeey iskadakhnadaan. This is not some thing a cadaan guy can make us feel or unfeel. Hence why Somalia immediately started to seek for its other parts not just what the colonialists were prepared to accept as Somalia.

    Thanks for sharing, I'm now looking forward to visiting Somalia as much as every other country

  • @Samxluve
    @Samxluve Před 9 lety +4

    I actually have no idea why a lot of Somaliland supporters keep hating on the southerners for not giving them their freedom or something. Your region signed a contract to enter a union with Somalia in 1960, stick to your word!! Plus all you have working for you is a strategic city and a port, most of the land you claim is disputed (you have no right to take over other people's land when you want your own land to be free). You cant claim ethnic diversity or a special culture because the country has one of the most homogenous populations on earth and your culture is the same as the other regions. So please, I'm in no way being rude, if I thought there was an advantage of the region getting its independence I would support it, But why is my question, why hate on a devastated southern region that gave "Somaliland" support and peace and shoot for independence the very same year the government falls? And just to avoid the hate, I'm not a southerner so in no way am I defending the south out of a patriotic urge. Im a Somali though and detest the awful way Somalilanders are painting the rest of the country just to gain independence. I'm not referring to the videos content, I've personally been to Hergiesa, My irritation is towards the comment section where a lot of Somaliland supporters resorted to petty insults and demonisation of the failed state. Its really ugly when you gloat about a peaceful independent state and still function in the international community as a "Somali". Somalilanders are integrated in the country's core. Borders are meaningless with Somalis because the similarities are uncanny. I'm personally happy that Somaliland found peace, but that peace is useless when grudges are enticed between clans. Does anyone here think that calling each other uncivilised or jealous is going to benefit the country in anyway. You are just breeding inner hate in individuals that in a few years might pass that hate on to their youth. The same youth that's gonna build the country. A youth that been coerced into thinking of their fellow clansmen as enemies. Does that help? Does that give us an advantage? Think about it yourself.

      Even if Somalia had a government. What tells you that government would allow the dissolution of the treaty signed after Somalia's independence? I'm speculating here but Somalilands international recognition might be a hard task to acheive because other countries don't want to entice more instability in an already fragile region.
      P.S I didn't actually understand how you got that idea from my comment, but I answered in the best way I could.

    7:53 mate that aint the real countryside of ethiopia dire dawa is part of the ogaden region a region ethnically poppulated by ethnic somalis also part of the historical greater somalia that was givin to the ethiopians by the british empire there was an entire war over it in which somalia managed to capture almost the entire region and was a few miles from the capital city addis but if it wasnt for countries such as the soviet union cuba north korea and many arab countries aiding in personel,doctors and money,ethiopia would most likely be half its current size and somalia would be the place your visiting to get to ethiopialand or something oh and btw all the people you saw in dire dawa where most likely ethnic somalis being ruled by a country they hate and also cannot do anything about it really is sad

    Nin aqalka iska nadiifin waaya Marti ma yeesho. I was raised in Hargaysa, born in Montreal, Canada. I hate the fact that people think we’ll be recognized as an independent country when couple of random tourists visit. There’s no future for either country, whether Somalia or somaliland, we’ll never be recognized till we make a move for ourselves. Politicians feed on government funds, corrupted officials selling off government properties to rich people like dahabshiil, oomar, and other rich bastards. Stop thinking aqoonsi will come one day randomly. We’re feared as terrorists, pirates and hated for our beliefs. We still live in a system of tribalism, and breed hate in our children. We have one of the richest land and the most beautiful parts of east Africa, like Golis and daalo. We have sanaag, berbera and las qoray for ports, gabilay for crops and cows, wajaale for stock exchange, saylac for salt, hawd for camels and milk, we have everything. What’s the problem? The government blinded people making them believe there’s a future for somaliland in aqoonsi. Where uneducated people are ministers but elected due to tribalism. This is what abwaan gaariye said :- mabda’eenu waa, isagoon mugdiyo, madmadoow ku jirin, maantiyo berriba, malafsade ha dhaco, xalaal maal ha jiro, dadku WAA MASEE, HA MUDH BAXOO CADLIGU. I want to see my homeland heading towards a bright future. Viva Somaliland.

    Hey while u advocating somaliland to be recognized, tell your Ethiopian Christian to let Ogadenia go and part of Somali owed Kenya.British always want to divide Muslims so we become divided and weak. If you are honest about this,make video about ogadenia and tell the Ethiopians to give the land of Somalis that your forefather stole from Somalis. Let's see how the Ethiopians raw meat eaters respond then.

      ansar1919 Ogadenia was and have always been part of Ethiopia. although the people living there are Somali but they should accept to be Ethiopia. Ogadenia never colonized by anyone that can't be changed the 1978 Siyad Barre war try to get them never worked.

      If people are clever and wise enough to remain peaceful when the rest of Somalia is going up in smoke, then let them be. It is just like divorcing an abusive spouse. Holding on Somaliland is just selfishness from Somali. In sha Allah they will be rewarded for wanting to build themselves into a country. Am not a Somali.

    Somalilanders are a people who stand on a legacy of a great civilisation. They are a blend of the great hametico-semitic civilisation. The long coastline of Somaliland was the centre of the growth and the export of the frankincense and myrrah to the temples in places as far as China, Egypt, Greece and ancient Rome. The gum was used for religious rituals, medicine and for preserving the bodies of the pharoas and the dead rich ancient Egyptians for centuries. This land was then known as the land of punt( the land of the odour or perfumes) because of the precious cosmetics made from frankincense which was precious as gold today and solely monopolized in growth and export by the land of punt as it is in Somaliland today. The land of punt was closely related to ancient Egypt and ruled by monarchs who exchanged royal visits with the pharoas. They built great cities along the Somaliland coast for the export of the precious franckincense, cities which were noted by Ptolemy, the great Greek geographer. Many of these cities disapeared because of the demise of the frankincense trade, the fall of dynasities and the rise of new principalities and the shift of centres of power to other places. Queen hatshepsut, the powerful pharoas who ruled Egypt around 2500 B.C. paid numerous visits to the king of the land of punt by ships through the red sea. In her return journey the king honoured her by loading her ships with precious presents of frankincense and myrrah, gold, ivory, leopard skin and others. Because of her close attachment and love for the land of punt, queen hatshepsutpt built a great, grandiose temple in deir el-bahr about 10 km from luxor, the capital of ancient Egypt in memory of her visits and love of the land of punt. In the walls of the temple she engraved in lasting colours the story of her visits to the land of punt and the way of life of the people of punt. Today the temple of hatshepsut is a popular tourist mecca visited by thousands of tourists from all over the world. The ancient Egyptians were very attached to the land of punt. They considered it a sacred place, the origin of their souls. It is no strange that today Berbera which survived the land of punt as a centre of maritime trade has regained together with rest of Somaliland that fame and importance inheriting the legacy of people known as brave seafarers, soldiers and creative tradesmen
