      In all African cultures there were things for jobs that were looked down now. This is not unique to Somalis, jobs that were associated with Metal , shoes repair or making, Mechanical job in general for it is related to metal, Barber or hair cutting or etc. This was part of an ignorant culture. We do know know these jobs are now being seen in a better light. Somalis can see that some of the richest countries and people and individuals are into Shoe making , Barbershop and A Accessories , even some countries are rich for these and more jobs like these that Africans used to look down without the concept,, ,Agree that this was not a good culture or beneficial . Even the local African Medical experts were named as witchcraft, this killing the initiative of expanding on improving on African or local medicine. Look at this as a common problem that the young generation should work to change. Even marriages should amoung these class of people working in thesd jobs should not because hiddenrance for their girls to be married by the other Somalis. Ingronce needs to get Conquered with knowledge. Islam is the answer.

The British admitted it when when one of their top GAALO went there and was in awe how underdeveloped it was compared to the Italian investments in the south. At that time Mogadishu was already called the Jewel of Africa.
      Anyway there is no pride in being colonised, it's against our religion, our customs, our self respect and it diminishes our worth. Be proud of what your kin achieved in your country now coz that is yours. Anything the British built is theirs. Even the people were theirs.

So of course we are thankful for the British government on how they treated us when we were in need. But saying it all the time defeats the purpose of altruism. Perhaps he needs to separate his political believes from the reality on the ground and stop denying to report about. Hassan can not sell his Somalia by trying to use Somaliland's success as part of Somalia's story. This is 2nd time the reporter has failed to report impartially and CH4 viewers know about this - 3r time - He can take his partisanship to his Somaliland denials only!

      2Qumac To be honest the point that most people are missing is, the reporter works for a foreign news broadcaster and Somaliland is recognized as part of Somalia internationally to this very day, its true that Somaliland has government and its parliament but the question is have all these things secured a statehood so far? or maybe its a time that you should put a global perspective view on the Somaliland issue, what I find amazing is that most people I know from Somaliland can not differentiate the local propaganda that is fed to them for more than 24 years and the reality in the world, you can not tell me you the reporter is impartial by reporting the fact of Somaliland as is known by the world.

    • @Cabaysmedia
      @Cabaysmedia Před 9 lety +4

      I can see where you coming from - Somaliland Denials! Whether you or the reporter tries to mislead the World or the World ignores the reality- Somaliland will always stay there - remember those who were born 24 years ago are the one call Somaliland their country, in uniform, and ready to protect it, and they know nothing about the failed Somalia you're talking about. World doesn't control their existence as a country, like the Somalia you are talking which 1000s of AU protect its government from the same people it claims it governs. Why should they associate with a country ceased to exist 24 years ago - the World knows best.- Truth hurts but doesn't kill you!

    • @EbrahimMohamedcadabra
      @EbrahimMohamedcadabra Před 9 lety +1

      2Qumac No the truth doesn't kill but bear with me here, I didn't say Somalia is a functioning government and its true that there are thousands of AU troops are protecting the state government, but the fact here is I don't deny the existence of Somaliland, what is misunderstood is the concept of statehood, a country doesn't form on a unilateral decision taken by few people, remember both sides agreed to form republic of Somalia in 1960, its childish to believe one side can breakaway without the other part agreeing on, so get the realities straight, Somaliland been existing 24 years but that doesn't wipe away the fact on the ground that Somaliland is universally known as an autonomous region of Somalia, so long as that the world sees you part of Somalia we will have the right to rightfully lead the world as SL is part of Somalia.

    • @Cabaysmedia
      @Cabaysmedia Před 9 lety +4

      With all due respect. You need to check your historical references when you talking about the union of Somaliland with Somalia. There was no such Republic of Somalia instead there was Somali Republic and this was meant to represent all five Somali territories as the white star represents. For the question of who has the right, Somalilanders have expressed their desired to be separate from Somalia in 1997. You get to remember that Somaliland is directly dealt by the very World you talking and that makes it very important partner. Again there are generations that know nothing about the Somalia you dreaming about and to them Somalia doesn't exist on their side.

      2Qumac We need more programs like this that highlights the progress and the diversity of people in Somaliland, our proponents have made the social media as their platform to spread the Anti-Somaliland propaganda. I feel Somaliland, in particular Somalilanders are not capitalising on these various social media to showcase Somaliland and their pursuit of Independence. There so much we could be doing in making the world see Somaliland and the great many positive things happening there.

      *****just because we speak the same language, call yourselves Muslims and pretend to have the same culture in the horn doesn't guarantee it would have been one stable national identity country.
      As you know terrorists in central southern Somalia are blowing themselves up for Political reasons (their self interest to govern the whole country on their own by force -_- ) and not because something happened in late 19th century.
      Somalis (north and south) voluntary joined to create Somalia after Europeans left! and it COULD NOT last for more than misery 30 years (you know what happened! Southern Somalia committed GENOCIDE to Somalilanders) so please stop blaming your country failures to colonials.
      Somali was, is and will always just be an ethnicity.

    • @benfitzmcquinn6852
      @benfitzmcquinn6852 Před 9 lety +2

      ***** interesting point but at least we have established that being Somali is an ethnicity rather than a national identity. I think most people in the world understand that Somali's are only limited to Somalia which couldn't be further from the truth. Going back to the second half of your comment in suggesting that the europeans are soley to blame for curving up the somali people into different groupings is incorrect, case in point the Ifat and Adal empire. Well's argues that the Ifat and Adal empire was the first state like Somali entity although it was limited to parts of somaliland including (berbera, borama, zaila) as well as Djibouti and northern parts of the Somali region in Ethiopia. Similarly there was the Ajuran dynasty in southern parts of the Somali region in Ethiopia and along the shabelle and jubba basins. Apart from these two above, other sultanates or otherwise had no scope to be considered as an everyday functioning body. Nonetheless there is evidence to suggest the existance of alliances or pacts but mainly reserved in extreme circumstances i.e. common security alliance. Its a weak notion to argue that these instances alone constitute a nation or some form of governance. In fact if you were to compare it to the Ifat and Adal empire its formation was based on Islamic values which crosses ethnic lines allowing muslims Oromos, Somalis, hararis, guraghe etc to form a more cosmopolitian singleton. These are the features of a nation state formed on common interests of different parties. And as this video points out muslim ethiopians and yemeni's alike feel more able to relocate to Somaliland because of its historical connection, perhaps it might be the beginnings of returning of a distant polity? perhaps Somalilanders have understood the weakness of a nation state based on ethnicity alone and their logical deduction of self interest.
