- Well, you've all been asking me to do Alternate Starters for Heartgold and Soulsilver so here you go! I decided to start off with Feraligatr and really decided to shake things up a bit with which Pokemon made it on to the team.

both Mr.Mime and Ambipom almost do the same amount of usage as the rest of the Mons. plus for Dragonite you could get it through main early game or in the the Dragons Den as well.
i will test this team out i already have most Mons in this list but adding some new Mons to fit in the team much better and will take a picture and send it here so you guys can see what predictions i propose in the game.
plus Voltorb flip is overrated in this game and a pain the ass. most of the moves in the game for the game corner is in the game much later on by the way.

You can get a dratini gifted to you, and around the surrounding waters; in ‘the dragons den’, the gifted one comes with extremespeed
but level 5 or 15 ( i dont remember)

Btw, I suggest replacing Draco Meteor with Surf on Dragonite. That way, Feraligatr can have Crunch
Edit: Also, get thunderbolt first, since Crobat can take care of grass and bug types, but get flamethrower before the 6th gym. Give Dragonair Draco meteor before Clairs gym, then replace Draco Meteor for Dragon Pulse. You can get the Aerial Ace tm before the elite 4, you need waterfall.
Why not just give earthquake to dragonite instead and keep crunch on feraligatr?

Mystic, you are the man, but you're insane if you think I'm gonna devote that much time to the game corner for the Thunderbolt and Flamethrower TMs on top of grinding for a Dratini.
Then just use Fire Punch and Thunder Punch instead. You can get them from the Move Relearner in Blackthorn.

Great video. The only thing I personally might have changed is instead of Ambipom I would’ve gone with Lickilicky, because what it lacks in speed it makes up for in bulk and coverage.

Why not try using Mamoswine in place of Ambipom?
I understand that's a hot take, but it's much more worth it in the end, imo
The moveset I had in mind was Ice Fang, Strength, Stealth Rock, and Earthquake
Ice Fang is gotten via Heart Scales in Blackthorn (which are gotten through a single hidden one or by smashing rocks in Cianwood)
Strength is gotten via the man leaving Mt. Mortar on route 42
Stealth Rock is gotten via Celadon City Department Store (3rd floor, I believe)
And Earthquake is a level-up move
(Also, I'd change Surf on Feraligatr to Rock Climb, as that's a handy move to have on it, but that's just me)

Using this team rn grinding for early dratini with flamethrower and thunderbolt before the third gym was pretty cool as I’ve never used a dragonite in the game. Currently doing gym leader rematches w the final team

I’m replaying HGSS rn, and my final team ended up being Fetaligatr, Ampharos, Espeon, Heracross, Dragonite, and Lugia. With Krabby as my HM slave
Something big to consider: by the time you reach Mt. Silver, you won’t have much Surfing left to do (mainly getting to Moltres). Once that’s all done, you can replace Feraligatr’s Surf with Rock Climb. Then you won’t have to leave a team member behind for the confrontation with Red. Just a suggestion.

Mamoswine using ice fang here is literally cursed image.
One thing to save some time: you can give Dragonite Fire Punch and Thunder Punch. As soon as you evolve it fully, those moves will be available by Move Relearner in Blackthorn. Just Rock Smash some boulders for a little while, and you'll have enough. It's, at the very least, better than days of Voltorb Flip.
I’ve always hated using Cyndaquil because I thought his design was super boring. I love Feraligatr so much, I had one in my nuzlocke team and it came out flawless
Ambipom is such a good option, but I think the move set is lacking. With the technician ability plus stab normal moves like double hit do crazy damage
Feraligatr, Ampharos, Crobat, Heracross, Espeon, and Arcanine/Ninetales or Mamoswine.
I agree 100% heracross nightslash is all you need vs the ghosts. And mamoswine I think is easier to get b4 clair than a good dragonair. Plus usually my mamoswine wipes dragon types.
This is actually the tine I used in soul siver but I used mamoswine in the last spot

I'd swap Number 4 for Mamoswine. It's another good dragon counter with very high attack and priority in ice shard. Even thought Ice Fang is not a great move, it's high attack stat makes up for it
But to evolve it tho

I’m hype to see a heart gold team with meganium
Here's a tip for Heracross headbutting. If the tree doesn't yield a fight the first time you hit it, it will never yield a pokemon, so just run around bashing your head t least 1nce per tree. Also, i didn't do this, but Heracross can appear better at night which is when it sleeps. it will start the fight asleep. Also, thanks, it was worth it, he was an absolute beast.
Nice im about to replay HG and my friend picked Water as my starter type so I wanted to see what pokemon are same in your team plus the one I decided to use.. lol got three out of 6 not bad I say so. Felaigator, Heracross, Crobat, than ima use, Slowbro, Magmar, and umbreon. Lol Ik you love the last one.

I miss the old colors on Feraligatr that he had in Gold Silver and Crystal. Dark Blue and Dark Red. Made him look Ferocious.
Avalanche on Feraligatr might be better than Ice Fang. You get the TM in the Ice Path and the Celadon Department Store in post game. Its also physical with a 60 base power that doubles to 120 when Feraligatr gets hit before using it. And since Feraligatr is pretty slow that will be the case most of the time.
Nah, Ice Punch is better. It has 75 BP unlike Ice Fang with 65, 100 Accuracy instead of 95, and also same amount of PP but it loses the 10% flinch chance. Avalanche doubles to 120 when Feraligatr is hit but in game speed doesn't really matter since 78 base speed is decent and if you level up high enough, your speed stat will be higher than your opponents. I always EV train it in Atk and Speed. I usually wouldn't have Surf on it either and instead use Crunch as I don't mind getting a HM slave. Rock Slide is another good option, though.

Anyone attempting to get her across here are some tips.
If a tree doesn't give an encounter on the first try, move to the next one. It has no Pokemon in it
Her across has a 20-50% encounter rate in trees that can have a heracross.
The easiest way to find this Pokemon is to check a tree, if it doesn't have an encounter, move on. If it does, check it about 5 times, if you don't see a heracross, move on.
Doing this I found one in about 5 minutes

It's a rom hack and it's insanely hard, it follows a slightly different story from Fire Red as in the story sort of takes place after the Events of the Jhoto games(the main events all follow along with Fire Red but with different dialogues and different events towards the ending)
Giovanni returns with a plan to catch Mewtwo and you also get to battle the Jhoto leaders.

I would suggest you pick Charizard as it's the best Mega Pokemon you can use and starters are mostly obsolete as even Brock has a well balanced team(A. Geodude, Vulpix, Onix)
Also every freakin trainer has a team with perfect IVs and EVs with held items as well and won't hesitate to switch out pokemon, so have fun

You can use a Defensive Spiritomb with Bold Nature and a Defensive Metagross with Careful Nature, it is an Ez win just make sure to have 0 speed IV for both of them,
Once her Hatrenee uses Trick Room Your Spiritomb would outspeed all of her Pokemon and hit them with DarkPulse or ShadowBall, so take out her Pokemon that can harm our Metagross first(Marowak etc)
Then just Iron Head your way with Metagross it's and ez win

For Dragonite, you change Draco Meteor & Dragon Pulse for Dragon Rush. Also Dragonite can get both Thunder & Fire Punches as a tutor move in Blackthorn City with heart scales. And I do wish Voltorb Flip was more easier to learn & play though.

why use a sp.att dragonite when its base att is higher.
Well... He probably didnt suggest a physical set cause most of the playthrough you will be using a Dragonair (if you get it by ways of Voltorb Flip) and his physical moves until he evolves aint strong enough. BUT if you use it when you get your 8th badge, grabbing the one offered by the Dragon Master, you can put something like Dragon Dance (lvl up) Aqua Tail (lvl up), and after getting Dragonite you can put the Dragon Claw tm or Outrage by lvl up, Move remember something like maybe Fire Punch, but ALWAYS keep the special move it has: *Extreme Speed!*
Why no Extreme Speed, you can get one after beating the quiz.
Depends on the Nature, true that Dragonite has a innate high Physical Attack but if you get a Modest or Mild Dragonite his Spec. Attack is nothing to laugh at.
Mild Nature Dragonite can use both good Physical and Special, Adamant though could sweep with Physi attack, depends on the build but yet.
Mild Dragonite is crazy.

Technically misty's starmie is one of the hard counters to crobat because of starmie being part psychic type

Well considering Feraligatr is the only Pokémon on this team that can Learn Rock Climb, and Surf isn’t necessary to reach Red (Just fly to Viridian or the Indigo Plateau), Rock Climb could replace Surf when you feel ready to challenge Red.

I know you’ve given Meganium some shade, but honestly it’s not that bad. Just gotta know how to use it. It’s more bulky than speedy and yes the moves it learns through levels are not that great but it can still learn some good TM moves including Outrage.

(technician ability, high attack stat, only weakness is fire)

(excellent move pool, only weakness in the game is dragon. Kingdra is difficult to get because Horsea is a Heartgold exclusive that can be found in the wild while surfing/fishing. Soulsilver players have to trade unfortunately. You have to trade once with Seadra while holding a dragon scale. I know trade evolution isn’t popular but it’s worth it).

(bulky, excellent move pool that can help cover its weaknesses)
Espeon
(if you wanna talk about good psychic types from johto, why choose Mr Mime over Espeon. Also Mimes creep me out).

ambipom has access to technician so double hit is better than return on it. and dragonite is a physical attacker so i’d suggest outrage and the elemental punches on it instead
I was just wondering when i should catch heracross, I could catch it as early as possible, but then i have to do low level grinding which is so annoying, and i could pick it up later in my playthrough. Right now i have the 1st 2 on the list, any suggestions about the catch order or when in the game to pick them up?
i don't know why xatu isn't added in the gen 2 teams i mean it has 90 base special attack i just think that its pretty underrated but its actually not bad

Personally I'd say Fraligator is the best starter, second I wouldn't have 2 flying types and I pefer Espeon over Mr Mime
Espeon will performs better.
@# AYUSH BANIK not that hard really and is much faster and stronger. Psybeam with a twisted spoon is plenty good until Kanto and both that and Shadow Ball hit much harder on Espeon. You can use Grass Knot in place of Magical Leaf since grass isn't very useful in Johto so no problem there. Focus Blast is unreliable so just use Heracross if you need a fighting move. I agree with the Feraligatr analysis.
@# AYUSH BANIK Gater is the best starter in remake, spamming surf while quilava has flamewheel till level 35.
@# AYUSH BANIK Grass Knot is great for Lapras and if you have to send your psychic type out against a steel or dark type you're playing it wrong. Use a fighting type or a fire type. With a little bit of time you can get Espeon before Whitney. This isn't a playthrough for the Battle Tower; this is for the story which is made easy enough for kids to beat despite the number of adults who now play these games. You can pick up a Twisted Spoon on Tuesdays from Tuscany on Route 29 so not hard at all. If you look at the actual Pokemon you're fighting not using Focus Blast or grass moves in general is perfectly viable. The main reason for a psychic type is for psychic STAB and for Shadow Ball against other psychic types since all of the ghosts you're fighting aside from Misdreavous is weak to psychic anyway. Also try using that Focus Blast on Red's Snorlax and see how well that goes. At equal level and both with a neutral nature it's doing 40% damage AT BEST while grass knot does better against his Lapras than Magical Leaf (also applies to Misty). It's a guaranteed 2HKO if at equal level while Magical Leaf is 5HKO at best. The only time it's more useful is against Misty's Quagsire and even then Grass Knot will still OHKO and her Golduck which isn't a threat especially if you're smart and actually use an electric type like Ampharos.
@@notscorchingsands9718 Gyarados and Lapras are still better water types and fire types do better than water types especially early game which is where your starter is the most important. Typhlosion is faster with stronger STAB moves overall being Lava Plume and Flamethrower. Throw on a Sunny Day/Solar Beam combo and you've got someone who can even solo Misty (yes I've done it).
