    Thank-you Dr. , your advice is clear and well balanced. I was surprised though, that you didn't address the carbs, sugar and highly processed foods in our culture and diet. My mother who recently died at the age of 95, was diabetic and had both legs amputated. She was Jamaican and loved her rice and peas, patties and ginger beer. I am also diabetic (in remission). I adopted a low carb diet 8 months ago and dropped 70 pounds and my A1C has dropped from about 10mmols to about 6. I do still eat some fruit and lots of green vegetables for fiber and I do also use whole fat dairy as well. But no grains, sugars, seed oils or processed foods---I cheat occasionally.

      Hi. You're welcome. Congratulations on your success in putting type 2 diabetes in remission - yay for you! Focus and commitment pay off over time.
      I am sorry for the loss of your mother.
      In this video I focused on the steps to reverse type 2 diabetes, naturally, and did not focus on the root cause issues that lea to type 2 diabetes.
      That is a different video.
      The highly processed, ultra refined, no good for anyone junk in our food systems is a big part of the problem, but not the only factor, as we both know.

    Hello Dr. I eat breakfart, skip lunch, eat supper. Is the 12 hours between measl ok ?
    Once a month go on a complete 3-4 day water fsst..Do this help heal the body ?

    • @DrBeverlyYates
      @DrBeverlyYates  Před 12 dny +1

      Hello! Water fasts are a great way to heal the body. In general, skipping lunch is not ideal. It would be better to not have breakfast and consolidate eating to the time period between lunch and dinner, if you are trying to maximize the benefits of intermittent fasting. Of course, please do what works best for your needs.

Please do your best to care for yourself so your work shifts don't ruin your own health.

    Thanks Dr, very informative. But my problem is that no-one talks about how someone that does night shift tackle health issues like prediabatic and T2D. All of us don't do 9-5 or day shift. It will be more beneficial to me with night shift routine plz mam. Thanks

    • @DrBeverlyYates
      @DrBeverlyYates  Před 7 dny

      You raise an important issue. The health impacts of night shift or rotating shift work are not commonly discussed when talking about prediabetes or T2D. It's a missed opportunity to help people who do shift work, like my parents did for many years. I get it. I've added this topic to the list of future videos. Thank you for your comment.

      Fair point. I use standards that lead to optimal health and anti-aging. According to my training, ideally, the fasting blood sugar should be between 70 - 99.

      @DrBeverlyYates  Před 7 dny +2

      I get why you're confused. I wish doctors had better training about ways for people to recover their health. Intermittent fasting has been around for thousands of years as a way for people to improve their health, including for people who have diabetes. I encourage you to seek out resources and books on the topic of intermittent fasting so you have information that is specific for diabetics. Generally speaking, intermittent fasting is safe for diabetics. Please check out what is safe and makes sense for your personal health before starting something new.

      Intermittent fasting and keto = low carb foods will reduce your weight drastically and lower your blood sugar and pressure at the same time. I did it and had a new life till date. Lost so many pounds and gained extra energy to my greatest suprise. So ignore the doctor. He is playing a big pharma script.

      I did my best to explain it clearly and concisely. Sorry if it’s not what you wanted. People’s habits around sleep, including winding down before bedtime, do influence their sleep quality and sleep quantity. It’s unfortunate you have sleep issues. I hope you are able to find what works for you.

    • @DrBeverlyYates

      Different foods works for different people. Some of the foods shown are a deliberate contrast to make the point about unhealthy foods in general. People vary in their ability to digest and benefit from carbohydrates. Slow burning, resistance starch, complex carbs offer healing nutrients for people in most cases.

      Nope… I am off all meds on advice of doctor. I eat no processed foods or simple carbs, but I do eat high fibre vegetables and lower gi fruits such as berries. No bread pasta rice or potatoes, other than that a very balanced diet with lots of fibre and moderate good fats. A1c down from 96 to 28 UK methodology. Extreme diets are not healthy, moderation and whole foods are key. No processed food tho that’s a big no no!
