    Great painting. I really like it. At first I wasn't sure about the water, but that was my fault not yours. I was watching on a 50 inch TV and I was only about six feet away. Then I left the room and when I came back and saw the screen from a proper distance, maybe twelve feet, it all fell into place and the water was fabulous. Monet would have been impressed!

    This painting looks wicked Mike...the right handside with the boats and the trees is perfect. About painting masters: I did some reproductions of great masters paintings (I never show them because of several reasons mostly legal) but it's incredible how you learn and get better at applying paint and composing...after that is all about your taste and what you are used to (in your case you are extremely used to paint outside and have your very own style already) so it won't change much of your strokes but I firmly recommend going for it...you will be surprise of what you are capable of afterwards. I still have the idea of doing a very big version of Luncheon of the Boating Party but I don't know what I would do with it when it's finished...maybe hung it at home. There's a mother at my daughter's school who saw them once and she is a Dali fan and she is always asking me to make her some of Gala portraits but I don't want to go to jail LOL. But I can tell you, painting a carbon copy of some masters teaches you more than you could imagine.

    • @chamberlainpaintings
      @chamberlainpaintings  Před 3 lety

      Thank, Martin! Yes, I agree you can learn a lot from doing master studies. I think it's ok to do copies as long as you don't sign it and try to sell it. You can give them away. Although there are websites that offer real, painted reproductions of famous works. Not sure how they're able to get away with that!

    Beautiful painting Michael. I love how you are experimenting with techniques gleaned from other artists. You may end up adopting some of this permanently over time; maybe not. There's always something to learn though, right? The Greats certainly evolved over time (probably what made them great). Just discovered that Piet Mondrian did impressionist landscapes as a young artist...yet today is best known for his Cubist masterpieces. My mind was totally blown over the evolution.
