Your style of commentary is relaxed and personal in an informally friendly way. And I love your painting style, too, it's really unique. I've just started watching your videos - I grew up in the 80s watching painting shows with my Grandmother every Saturday morning and she taught me some drawing basics. She painted and her paintings are similar in style to your's I really am only an abstract artist and a very novice one at that, I just do it for catharsis and for fun, but you're inspiring me to get back to those classes and maybe even start painting "for real." Thanks for the content! Peace to you.

Tad with his summer buzz cut…he’s such a pleasant guy. I wish I lived close enough to join you. These cypress trees were some of your best Michael! Loved it!

Beautiful sense of depth in this one Michael. I like how you've pushed the perspective to separate the main tree from the ones in the back. And Tad looks to be channeling Cezanne with his brush work. Nice!

Very nice painting, you know how to solve greens and greys which is very difficult. Lately I've been spending a lot of time in nature because it has exploded this summer and I see scenes to paint everywhere so from time to time I think "I bet Mike would have a blast out here" lol...and I know I could too but Im too comfortable lately to go buy the stuff I need and go to plein air paint. Maybe one day.

What a fantastic video... I love the close ups you did at the end so I could see your brush strokes and then your reasoning for when and how you used them. My sky holes always look ridiculous so I"m going to assume it's trial and error until your eye gets trained correctly see/apply them.

Such wonderful work with the trees. Not overly painted and beautifully descriptive of the various varieties of growth along the lake. Inspired me to have stronger goals in my brush handling. You say more in one stroke than most of us with a hundred.
