I have a new respect for your ocean painting skills. I went out yesterday and my easel blew over three times. I tried picking the sand out of my paint, then the tide was coming in and I had to move three times. In the end, I had to abandon the attempt.
I can relate to your struggle! It was painting at the ocean that made me switch to the Anderson easel I use in my videos. It's very stable in windy conditions. I also clip my backpack to it in order to weigh it down. Don't give up on ocean painting! You'll get it figured out.
Masterful sir. There was a point, after you blocked in the dark shapes of the trees, where you had the exact feel of those cypress trees: their character. After adding the native color as well as bounced light, the colors and values are amazing and accurate. However you covered up those vibrant brushstrokes. I do love the painting. Your color work is really great.
What up Michael! Great great painting. you made it look easy. There's such great action in those trees, which is so difficult to achieve. Great advice also in this video, I was just nodding my head "yes" the whole time. ✌
I paint in mostly realism, watching you over the years, your work leads me to a little abstract.havent stolen your colors or your brushwork.still love your style
I think this is a really strong painting. I love the loose brush work and shadows in the trees. It gives it a complexity that makes it visually interesting. Also, like the contrasting brighter colors of the sand and water. Thank you for sharing and filming your experience.
I really appreciate how you figure out and develop a successful composition. I believe composition is my biggest struggle in my watercolor paintings. Sometimes I don’t see the problem until I complete the painting! 🤪
Filtered sunlight through trees is very difficult to capture in paint. Thanks, Michael, for showing how it can be done effectively in your own style and palette of colors.
Being loose and spontaneous leading to a better painting... that's what they call the creative muse at work. It's a spiritual thing. Connecting to something inside us that is beneath our conscious level of understanding. Great result! You are doing such a great job with the photography, by the way. I feel so "brought in to the experience" through the closeups and excellent lighting.
Thanks, Michael. I think this episode is the one that’s going to get me painting again. I really liked what you did today or a few days ago and what you posted today and yeah cool thank you.
that central positive painted lit zone has a fractally edged tree shape of it's own, branches arcing slightly around the central horizon, an opening in the view beckons the walker

Do you a video on some of the tools you use for your painting sessions?

Great design of shapes in your beautiful painting. I’m about to do a painting with pine trees so I saw this at a good time! Thank you
Trees are absolutely fantastic in shape and color, bark is very appealing. Great composition. Absolutely love it.
Outstanding, and this is one of your best! I could picture sailboats or a container ship heading into the Pacific. Maybe even the Farallons.
This is my favourite painting of yours so far, love the colour arrangement and strokes are perfect. Great job!

Walking back from your painting is a great way to check the composition. Do it early and often!
@@chamberlainpaintings Thank you. I’ll do it.😊
As an art student wanting to brush up on my painting skills I love seeing you process in developing an artwork!

2 1/2 hours words are almost a waste of time. This picture looks awesome.
Love it!
Lovely painting! What brand brushes do you usually use. I’m looking to try a different brand, preferably one that holds its shape. Thanks!
I use Utrecht brand natural bristle flats. If you want brushes that hold their shape I’d go with synthetic brushes
Good morning Michael
Good morning Mark!
