In this video we're starting our 3 day guided hike in Abel Tasman National Park - one of New Zealand's top 10 great walks, an incredible coast track and home to some of the most underrated beaches in New Zealand!
Abel Tasman National Park is New Zealand's smallest, but arguably best, National Park. You might remember we spent 1-day hiking, kayaking and exploring but we wanted to come back and spend more time. The park and hikes are modular in a sense, Wilsons have water taxis to get you to all of the best spots to start your walk, but we opted for a multi day hike staying in lodges over night.
The most popular multi-day walk in Abel Tasman with Wilsons is Southbound, we did the 3-Day Guided Walk Northbound. Our tour kicked off from Marahau, the entrance to the Abel Tasman track, and ventured up to Torrent Bay for the first night's sleep. Episode 2 will be covering day 2 and 3 as we head deeper north into the park and explore more of the coast.

We're incredibly lucky! Just to keep things real though - we did move from level 1 to level 2 during this trip and still had to wear masks on public transport so it's not all perfect BUT we do appreciate how lucky we are in comparison to a lot of other countries around the world ❣️ Roll on travel freedom alright!!

Right you got me! We too had thundering waves in Blackpool... Gale force winds and the foam from the top of the waves blowing past our front window like soap suds. Lol. What a beautiful place and it seems so well organised but I guess that is New Zealand, Lovin' your work as ever!
This tour in particular is run so well, all the hard work and planning was done for us so we could just focus on the hike itself without carrying big packs or wondering if we were going the right way! Aw thank you, we really appreciate the love!

Wow, stunning! Those beaches in Abel Tasmin are so , so gorgeous looking- especially where you had lunch 💗 That would have been me happy and wanted to stay there swimming for the afternoon! Definitely more than normal steps for the day you guys! Your tour looks so great that you can do your own thing a bit a too and not have to stay too close together with everyone else to enjoy the beauty of the place but with the safety of a tour . 👍 Cool

Definitely hit like before I'd watched it to the end. Have been waiting for you guys to release this video 😍 I love a good hike, but only ever do day hikes because the idea of having to carry tents, food and clothing doesn't appeal as it just slows you down. So having the bags transferred is fab. The boulders and water at Cleopatra's pool was all kinds of beautiful and I loved that beach at lunch too! 🏝️

You'll see later in the series there's another track we do through the Queen Charlotte Sound where they offer a similar transfer service. Great episode. My husband and I are older. 3 years ago when I was 55 he was 60 we went to london. Stayed about 2 miles from the natural history museum. When we walked down there we only took so much cash with us to buy stuff, which was NOT enough for my husband who loves to spoil our grandkids, so we walked back to the airbnb got more money then walked back to the museum staying another 3 hours. We walked 22 thousand steps that day. It almost killed us both.

Well you know, I hate to say 'I told ya so' but I did have an 'I told ya so' moment when Dane admitted how much he loved his boots after day 😂 They've honestly been great, well worth the investment! Especially since we plan on doing a lot more hiking in the future.

Loving season 2 so far! What a beautiful place. That natural water slide looked fun but I agree with Stace, probably wouldn't do it. Did you guys see more wildlife?
That waterslide was an instant no from me 😂 No surprises considering I'm afraid of everything though haha. We saw LOADS, there's wildlife hiding around every corner. That's why it was so nice to have a guide because they know all the secret spots to look!

Hi, we will be there in Jan, is there any way to do all the day walks all in 3 days without spending the nights there and also without going on water taxis ? We will be staying at Redwood Valley and will be driving back and forth into Abel Tasman each day.
There’s not sorry. Check a map to see the limited places you get driving access into the park and a hiking trail map to see the walks. They’re all essentially one way in and back so you can’t reach a lot of spots unless you take the ferry or walk the day prior.
