JOHNNY THUNDERS & the Cosa Nostra on Paul Tschinkel's Inner-Tube

- Seen is Johnny Thunders in an iteration band called the Cosa Nostra. With Luigi at this side, they played through a set that was both entertaining and exciting, with minor marring technical difficulties for sure. A perennial favorite of Inner-Tube, Johnny here, performs as the consummate anti-hero of the New York Punk music scene. The Sopranos would be proud. Unfortunately he died prematurely - or maybe not. This is for all you Johnny junkies out there. Peace to you all. PT

I think the genius with this guy was the fact that he was so spontaneous. He could play but didn't really care. Going to one of his shows wasn't so much seeing a good show but rather to find out what was going to happen. Pure Rock and Roll.
You don’t care about anything on heroin. It’s nice.
Give us these full shows Paul us thunders junkies need this in our lives we couldn’t be there an the ones that were there would love to see the memories let’s go
They broke the mold when Johnny was born, such a shame he went out the way he did. RIP Johnny miss by so many..
Paul Tschinkel sure did capture some of the best Thunders video footage! Just as artsy with the camera as Johnny is with his vibe. 👍😎

The Joisey Massive on stage: Tony Coiro on bass, Luigi Scorcia on guitar, that boy Genzale and the oddball Irish Nolan
Nolan kept it on an even keel at least. Ities...I tell ya

Thanks Paul! Love these.
I saw the dolls a couple of times in the early seventies, right after their first album was released. They were a great live act, so much better than the records. Many bands are, however. I saw them at a large club in Atlanta called Richard's and then in much bigger venue. They were the opening act for a three band show featuring the Dolls, Aerosmith and headliners Mott The Hoople.
“So much better than the records” says so much about how fucking ripper the New York dolls were, because those albums are incredible.
I like the NY Dolls demos very much, great sound!
Awesome video ,tnx for this
Where's the full gig, this one would be great
Jerrys Drums sounds amazing
don't think thats Jerry,he wasn't in this band
JJ JJ It's clearly Nolan. Watch the very end of the video.
He's killing it. Totally solid and rocking.
@@frontbum420 well...let's see. Drummer is a lefty...in itself pretty rare...could be it's Jerry Nolan.
Its sad that Johnny couldn't leave the drugs alone
I really think he was unique and talented
No drugs=no Chinese Rocks. I saw him live in Gang War, he was fudged up. It was sad, yet if he never took drugs would he have been a rock god? The same can be said for Janis.
@@jsdoggg96 rubbish Janis had her voice and attitude without it Johnny's guitar just became one dimensional after the dolls...I love his stuff but his singing got worse......and Chinese rocks wasn't his
@@jsdoggg96 That is wrong thinking, Drugs Destroyed his career and ruined his guitar style and ruined his ability to play, by the end he didnt even bother tuning his guitar..in the end he just didn't care and that's what dope and methadone does, strips you of caring.. I'm not talking out my ass..please please dont let them fool you drugs dont make a star it stunts them(and Dee Dee (calvin) Ramone and Richard Hell wrote Chinese Rocks johnny was just there and when they left it just stayed ion the set list. you can hear the original with Richard Hell singing lead hear on you tube.
@@REX-ks1os BS. He had great shows with The Oddballs right before he died. I always thought he could make a great comeback album. He was dying from leukemia and he was murdered.
@@realsinisterminister Not hardly. I've listened to hundreds of his live recordings and they are all different. He was constantly changing. Open your ears. Dee Dee wrote Chinese Rocks...they both lived it. He never lost his voice either.
Its actually a tease how johhny barley played his guitar. It fucks up my head waiting for those haunting squeals of his and they don't come hahaha johnnys playing is the reason I started 3 years ago!!
JT got the itchies....
😍
Hey this is the same Mr Tschinkel who taught us two dimensional design in Queensborough Community College back in the mid 70s !!!!
Damn they look cool AF wanted to see billy but I'm not mad at this bass player 😎
Jerry Nolan on drums
Nice junkie sleeves
Junk rock 🎸💫 ☄️💉,,,,,,,,,,old school
Johnny boy is tore up big time! Looks like a juicy dripping speedball took place right before this song.
Haha seriously! His eyes looked heroined out and his extra weirdness is pretty coke-e
Definitely
yes,,cocktail behaviour !!!!
I agree
Looks like a potent speedball
Ikr? I want to do a speedball now. I probably shouldn’t watch these triggering videos.
Shoot another bag a smack aye Johnny boy
Il est vraiment très stone.
Wow, he is just gone isn't he?
Johnny has so much sadness in him watching these clips.
Johnny was a heroin addict which is why there is so much sadness in him.
@@barrygreenstein8383 It's a terrible thing.
He isn't sad, he's high. Drugs isn't all bad, you do it for fun, and if you can handle it, you can be in a r&r band, or have a day job, or anything else. And if you use methadone, that takes away the withdrawals from heroin use, so you can use if you like and don't feel the consequences, and live a pretty 'normal' life. From 1984 on he was in much better shape because of it. But it's all the other things around it, not eating and sleeping because of too much coke, taking a lot of pills, etc.
Luigi Scorcia 2nd guitar
I want one live recording of JT w/ Gang War at The Palms in Milwaukee. July 31, 1980. I'll pay 700 dollars and you can't rip me off, I was there. Just email his opening banter, if it is correct I'll gladly send you the money for this show.
I prefer Henri-Paul over Luigi and the rest of Johnny's post-Heartbreakers rythym players. Henri-Paul has a genuine rock 'n roll heart. Fat Tony was cool too.
Henri-Paul was a great guitarist!
Venue?
Shot at Irving Plaza, NYC, BTW, thanks to my wonderful buddy and great helper - Debra Kaplan/Garvey
Wonderful Paul, please post more if possible!
Nanchanger you know you two are the biggest assholes if you are a so-called fan of JT why do you always described him and put him down when there are a thousand other musicians that could barely stand on stage but yet I never see you showing any footage of them do you have a Vengeance out for JT because basically you're both assholes internet bootlegging and not only copyright and then CZcams let you put it on losers two fucking losers!!!lol
Nanchanger upload THE full show
@@innertubevideoDo you have any JT footage for sale?
can I pay for the full show somehow?
Thank you
Is that his regular guitar!??
Yes. With other color
It looks like Johnny and Luigi switched guitars, but the one Luigi's playing is looking a bit too clean to be Johnny's..
junk is so bad....he had the goods....no one can beat it
did he took somes drugs?
Most probably ..heroin
Not some. I think he took all the drugs.
That's an understatement!
Add this to my other post. I didn't care for Thunders solo career. The music was uneven and had nothing emotional or musical to really grab onto, imho.
Well, your comment sucks buddy
