  • @hellkitty1014
    @hellkitty1014 Před 25 dny +10

    GM really brought their game in terms of design of both of these. They no longer look like jellybellys and offed crisp, modern designs.
    On the Chevy, the bold design does indeed standout in a sea of vanilla offerings for sure. My only wish is that the red interior accents were optional instead of mandatory, since they do seem to be a bit too liberally applied for my tastes. But I do appreciate the more streamlined screen orientation in the Chevy vs GMC.
    On the GMC, what a massive quantum leap over the dullard that was previous model. With the style, presence, interior(especially), and tech are truly advanced. The only thing with the Acadia is I think its priced about $5K too expensive. There just doesn't seem to be $7500 worth of premium over the Chevy(no massaging seats, ventilated rear seats, rear seat infotainment, and both share Super Cruise).

    • @G-Rated
      @G-Rated Před 23 dny +1

      @@hellkitty1014 My only question is *did you watch the review?* The GMC’s upgraded 16-speaker Bose performance audio system is worth $2,000 alone. The Acadia Denali has more expensive and luxurious materials throughout with real laser etched woods and authentic aluminum accents. The Chevy’s interior feels premium but it’s no where near the aesthetic of the Acadia Denali or Enclave.
      The GMC also offers more technology like the large HUD and an upgraded adaptive suspension system is also included in this price difference. Certainly justifies a $5k-$6k price premium over the RS.

    You Guys describe the differences perfectly, sport vs luxury. I think you cant go wrong with either just depends on personal preference. I am a person who keeps my vehicles for quite a wile and I focus on keeping them in as much of new condition as I can, doing my own detailing work. One thing that I see as a con on the Traverse is all that piano black on the front. I don't see that aging well over time especially if you live in an area with a lot of bugs. I personally chose the Acadia. Pros and cons to both though. Thanks CarConfections again!

      They are using the top trim levels for this comparison, but the Traverse starts at $37k, and the Acadia at $42k. Realistically, most of these will be selling in the $40's - about on par for the segment. Also consider these are almost as big as the previous gen (2020) Yukons and Tahoes. Not even sure these should be called "midsize" SUVs anymore.
      If you don't need 3 rows, the 2025 Equinox/Terrain duo are being redesigned with similar styling to these two. Those are gonna start in the high $20's/low $30's. I'd say those are more for the "average" American with 2.5 kids. 😄 (Actually, I think it's less now.)

    Edit: I forgot they put the stupid Tablet style infotainment in the Acadia. Chevy it is. Actually after seeing the maps on them, I'm thinking the vertical screen is more practical. Still would just prefer less screens in general.

      Yes. A smaller but more practical screen is better than a large and useless screen.
      Sure… it might say a 17 inch but if you take away climate, nav, and other information you are actually looking at a 15” screen. Toyotas 12.5” screen does not have the climate integrated in it so the 15.5” inch around a 12” screen after the nav is taken away.
      A lot of new and fancy GM vehicles might have 30” screens but a lot of it is wasted space- headlight switches, blank area, etc.

      Remember, these are the very top of the line trims. The Traverse, Telluride, and Palisade all start around $37k or so. The Acadia starts in the low $40's though. I'm thinking most sales of these will be mid-range trims in the mid-$40's. They're just using the maxed-out trims for review purposes.
      But yeah, $58k/$65k is way overkill (bordering ridiculous) for a non-luxury midsize SUV, in my opinion. If I'm spending $65k on a GM, it's gonna be a full size Tahoe/Yukon, or something from Cadillac. But some people like the high trims, I guess.

    ITS EITHER TRAVERSE RS OR YUKON DENALI ......traverse for badass remodel....or Yukon Denali for road presence and Denali badge. I dont think the masses view an Acadia as a luxury vehicle. I dont like the front grill of Acadia or how tailights look like mini yukon tail lights. I do like the light leather option and some aspects of the interior.....not a fan of the GMC screen

      Once you get into the 40k price range ALL lights should be LED and there should be puddle lamp. Things like the Encore GX (top trim) and other 40k vehicles from GM lack LED interior lights.

      @@djplonghead5403 swivel headlights, aren’t new. manufacturers have been doing some discontenting and using chip shortages as an excuse, which is ridiculous at this point. As far as your statements about what cars should have at certain price points good luck with that. General Motors has been on a roll. The last five years they sell every truck and SUV they make and their reliability ratings keep going up what has changed is they don’t offer discounts anymore and they no longer price their vehicles below the competition. This goes for GM and Jeep/RAM especially. You’re gonna pay for every little thing you’re not gonna get LED lights on every $50,000 vehicle. They’re going to pull some options off that used to be standard.

    Both are severely underpowered for their size. They both increased significantly in size, but both shrank considerably down to a 4 cylinder. The 2024 Acadia we drove struggled to get up hills with our family of 4 in the SUV. The engine choice is very disappointing! The Yukon and Tahoe which are now not much bigger than the Traverse and Acadia are powered by V8's. Yes, I know EPA is pushing these manufacturers... but this is sad!

    Turbo engines
    The majority of the driving public do not know enough about engines, turbos, cubic inches, torque and horsepower to care. Just like an air compressor, the higher the pressure you run it the shorter the life of the pump, a car engine is a pump. Turbos pressurize the engine to falsely make it put out more power. The 4 cylinders lose power as they get more miles on them, there is no substitute for cubic inches, horsepower and torque. I have built engines and turbo's boost the pressure into the small engines creating more power at the expense of the life of the engine. Your maintenance cost will exponentially increase with a turbo when it fails. Any economy you may have gotten from the turbo will be totally lost on the replacement cost of the turbo. This vehicle is way too large/heavy for a 4 cylinder. A long list of gadgets will not negate the lack of power from a 4 cylinder, not to mention the turbo lag when you need all the power from the small 4 cylinder. GM has lost this customer. We have a 2017 ACADIA V-6, 34 MPG highway.
