Pleasure Beach episode 2 / 6 (Blackpool)

- Filmed on location in 1997 at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, the show was a six-part BBC documentary, which followed the day-to-day running of the park. It was mainly focused on the rides and the park managers, Jim Rowland and Keith Allen. The film crews also spoke to Geoffrey Thompson and Amanda Thompson, the director and producer of Stageworks Worldwide Productions (which directs, produces and choreographs the shows within the park.)
JR was a legend kept the pleasure beach running smoothly
It's funny how they try to build tension as the clock ticks to the alleged detonation time as if viewers might not know nothing happened or had forgot that a theme park in the UK was bombed!

Is it really such a high pressure environment? I can believe it in part but the dcoumentary seemed somewhat contrived in places. Only watched two episdoes as yet so we'll see.
Yup, the stress of thousands of customers, possible ride break downs, b*mb threats (not so much noe as its all closed in) and staff illness. It is a high pressured job. X
I still think the bomb threat was completely contrived just for the show.

Good job that bomb didnt go off . The parks reputation would have been destroyed forever. Imagine having 45 mins notice and not evacuating . Criminal .
Point is there was no bomb, just as JR suspected. He ran the park well and has good instincts to spot bluffing. The panic an evacuation would have caused would have been bad for reputation too.
Absolutely shocking that one man got to decide this fate. Thank god these days are long gone. Would never happen now
Back in the 90s bomb threats were everywhere but actual bombs were not, boys still a tit though.

@@County-ej8vj no matter who would make that decision they would be a WHOLE lot more qualified and educated to judge. There is protocol in place these days and no actually , ONE man alone would not just be free to make it either 🤡
