Taking nothing away from what The Vessel's voice can do, their drummer is on a whole other level than ANYONE in the game. The insanity he's doing in the back with those fills are God tier. Dude is an absolute unit of a madman.

I'd recommend reacting to Sleeptoken's 'Bloodsport' next. It's exclusively vocals and piano, and the video allows you to see what Vessel does with his mouth through a lot of the song. It's also the only song that made me tear up in recent memory

Great reaction and analysis, as always. Tbh, for most of the song I was kind of writing them off as typical, Tool-influenced prog metal with some admittedly nice pop tinges here and there. Then, that funky section happened at the end and now I'm confused and intrigued and I need to her more.

Sleep Token has such a massively varied style from song to song. There's songs like this that blend genres, and there's ones that are more straightforward. In general, you'll find that Sleep Token meshes heavy with ethereal and progressive sounds, and loves their beautiful piano and synths. One of my favorite songs of theirs is Nazareth; absolutely gorgeous song from when they first came on the scene in 2017.

I love this song so much. Everytime I hear it I think of calling it a perfect song. The entire thing is so dynamic and new. In the verses the music itself is pushing while the vocals drag a little behind, just taking his time. And then the ending. THE ENDING!! Amazing. Now the instrumentals are the ones taking their time. They are comfortable with letting the song breath and sitting in the open spaces. There's very little guitar and bass actually getting played in the funk part but it's still getting pushed like a rear engine freight train with those drums and fills. Fkn great stuff

its funny you said this song made you feel in an ocean on an alien planet. I've heard a lot of people describe listening to Sleep Token as walking on a different planet, or floating in space. Theres a lot of vastness and openness in their songs that really lean into that very outer space, alien-esque feel
It's very ethereal sounding kind of like the song Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd, they've got a few songs where all you can do is close your eyes and just sway

A friend's twittwr comment introduced me to sleep token. I love their genre bending unpredictability. That voice is full of emotion and power and is such a gorgeous contrast to the instrumentation that wouldn't be out of place on a death metal or metalcore album. Tesseract does similar. Another great British band.
Mixes the atmosphere of Deftones with the dark melody of Paradise Lost.
His lower singing range kinda reminds me of Ben Burnley from Breaking Benjamin.

A lot of people reacting to it arenât typically metal heads so the ending is the part that hooks them. Iâm here for it, let Sleep Token trick more people into realizing they like metal one song at a time.
The first parts while great sounds fairly typical within the genre. The ending is what makes it stand out and be unique. Plus they play on the whole heavy, soft, heavy again and go heavy, soft, and into funk
Itâs not surprising, metalheads are like 90% male or something. What makes Sleep Token so incredible is the diversity in their sound, genres, emotions, and fan base.

Sleep token are decent, but incredibly processed (including the vocals). If anyone hasnât heard nothing but thieves, go check them out and youâll see what I mean. Conor is very possibly the best current vocalist in rock
