- Markelle Fultz diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome. What exactly is thoracic outlet syndrome?
I'm a resident doctor with a passion for sports medicine and these videos are intended to help non medical audiences get a better understanding of what goes on in the world of sports medicine. This video is a description of thoracic outlet syndrome in easy to understand terms. Nothing in this video is suggestive of what I think might have happened to Markelle, simply an explanation of the condition he was diagnosed with. Enjoy!

This video is a great idea! I could absolutely see myself regularly watching something like this to truly understand the issue rather than just reading the short blurb in the injury reports.
Thanks!
@@3riantran the video would be too long 😂
I just posted one on rose and acl injuries!
Makes a big difference when a certified medical doctor speaks about the "real injury" vs some so-called dumb retired jock who probably never did his own homework before. Duh, it's all in his head...
Drinking game; take a shot whenever he says "heck"
Dude, this is absolutely what basketball fans, or even sports fans in general need. You give us information we wouldnt find or understand this easily if we wouldve researched it ourselfs. Keep this concept going, good work and thanks!
You can see why clubs don't explain themselves like this...imagine if they came out and said all of this.......
How can you be a doctor without the heartbeat thing around your neck?
Haha you caught me..definite fraud
@@BrianSuttererMD 🤣
The_Real_BruceWayne 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@BrianSuttererMD i agree tho, you're a doctor, you worked for it...you have the right to show it off. I wouldnt be against you having your degree in the background, and maybe some indicators. marketing wise might be smart too.
you should do a series dedicated to some of the biggest injuries in nba history
%1000 AGREE
Yea like Derrick Roses injuries . Why grant hill didnt become the best also Penny hardaway
Yep I like that idea
Dam you just made him a cool $300k with that idea prob
Lol that's a long way off haha. I'm just excited to see people respond positive to this content
Good way to sell your brand and get your name out there...smart and good info.
Thank you !
Lol Google me..real doc 👍
Sell
He a fake doc like that mengele dude
I was gonna like this but i decided to leave at 665
this man a doctor and a youtuber. i stan. boss up or get bossed around.
It would be cool to explain how boogie or Hayward recovered since they are both 6’8 or above or explain the process of how a human the size of biggie would recover
Lachie E That’s actually a fantastic idea
Neither one is recovered yet... Hayward isn't back to nornaal. Boogie is simply walking and playing pick up ball... It's been a year dude...
And the unicorn with his ACL, slow af recovery
Human growth hormone
I believe Hayward dislocated his ankle and fractured his tibia, which allows him to recover 100% whereas Boogie tore his achilles which is one of the worst injuries in general, but especially for a big man that needs to plant his foot into the ground and he may never be the same when it comes to his post up game. rip boogie :(
thank you I am a 76ers fan so I needed an explanation

Markelle Fultz was in a motorcycle crash that was swept under the rug, where he sustained his shoulder injury which in turn has led to his current circumstance
HESI STEPBACKJIMBO
Your medical staff is garbage
Justin Yu GOZ reference or KD reference? Or both?
Do all of Derrick Rose’s injuries !
Too many to name 😂
Maybe it will have more episodes than the whole Game of Throne series.
🤣🤣🤣
So he just gon' quit his day job?
🔥🔥🔥
Well done Doc! Seriously, you rocked that and we all needed a properly articulated explanation. Thank you 🙏🏼
I never knew I needed this kind of content but I'm happy it exists. I'm surprised it took this long for it to becomes a thing
I'm excited for this series. You can do well with this man!
Thank you so much!
Definitely keep making these types of videos. Sports fans will eat this content up like crazy and will be thankful of your field knowledge being shared with your fellow sports fans. Awesome video with great audio and visual diagrams.
Thank you for making this, most people seem to not know what injury Fultz suffers or the significans of TOS. Its quite a big deal that is complicated and difficult to fully heal. Its sad that more media hasnt commented on TOS thats troubling Fultz.
Doctor your videos were so educational. Vids like this should be watched by everyone. Thanks for the knowledge btw.
Thank you for obviously being informative but still making it simplistic for the average viewer.
Love the idea of this channel! Consider also speaking about the “timetable for return” the media often speaks of, and how accurate they are, and how fair they are to the athletes, as bodies heal differently
Love how you're keeping up with the trend with your niche
Love this video! Would definitely like to see more on these topics.
Great video, Very informative! Looking forward to more like this!
Honestly This was one of the best videos I’ve seen in a while good information easy to understand strait to the point
Currently in my M3 year and am finding your videos incredibly informative on ways to drop all the academic vernacular when explaining typically complex situations to patients. Thanks!
This is awesome. It's a great idea! I'm here for the videos! 👊🏽💯
Great series. Just found your channel and I really enjoy the recent trend of sports injuries. Keep it coming 🔥
Really appriciate your input. It's nice to hear from someone who is knowledgable about a subject they are passionate about. BRING US MORE. please.
Honestly love all your vids, keep it up bro
Can’t lie, this is probably gonna be my favourite CZcams channel of 2019. Keep up the good work, watching your videos reminds me, why I wanna study medicine. Great channel 👏🏻
Love hearing that!! Thank you so much!
Well done, well said! Thanks! Keep making these videos!
Very well explained and articulated!
Thank you !
It's cool to see how your production value has increased in barely a month
Great idea bro and I'm all for this channel
Thanks from every international nba fan. I really struggle reading injury reports. This helps a lot
You are good. This is good. Keep it up!
Great video keep this series going
He was complaining about numbness in his arm and that lead to rumors of nerve damage from a motorcycle accident.
This sounds like a misdiagnosis and a medical staff that was passing the buck by saying it was in his head.
I have thoracic outlet syndrome and my symptoms flare when I sneeze...it feels like a "stinger" down my arm. Its extremely painful, but only last for a minute or 2.
I was also diagnosed with a muscle imbalance for years...now as silly and stupid as this sounds I just have to watch my posture if I feel like I have to sneeze.
The staff def wasn't passing the buck its a very uncommon condition and Fultz is technically physically able to do everything and pass a physical to be medically cleared. Some of it may be Fultz not telling the doctors exactly whats going on trying to tough it out and suck it up.
@@Byronic19134 The miss diagnosis occurred since Fultz never talked about his motorcycle accident.
Look into Functional patterns 👌🏽 change to life my guy
This comment needs to be pinned
so if you have allergic rhinitis and thoracic outlet syndrome your dead
This is awesome. Keep them coming! Subbed.
Love the idea, keep ‘em coming! Subscribed!
Definitely subscribed to see more of this! Even for more common, simpler issues, I'd love to hear your insight on various injuries!
Great vid.. Very informative, you should continue this series
Very good content Bro this is much different than anything else in CZcams.. Keep up the good work!!
Great vid man! I just subscribed. Keep them coming
This series is genius .Subbed!!!!!
There is so much potential with this. Mixing science and sports and you have done a great work trying to explain the body mechanics and the symptoms of the syndrome. We can reduce injuries if we are more informed about our body and our movement. Keep doing your thing doctor and looking forward for more content.
You bet! Thanks for the good feedback! I post other stuff here to just related to my medical training but will be doing lot more like this video !
Nice job!! I appreciate your insight from a medical perspective
Great vid! I’m subscribing for now and depending on how this series goes, I hope I won’t regret my decision. Thanks man.
This is a really really good idea for a series
Fantastic Video Brian!
Ted! Thanks!
Well done. Great video. Keep em going.
Thank you!
This is a channel I can get behind u my friend have earned a subscriber
You should get a nice rush of Magic fans to this video right now! Thanks for the info!
Thanks for the explanation. I can better understand what's happening to my guy if this is actually what is going on with him. Continued success with your channel.
Love the video. I'm a huge NBA fan and will be waiting for more about injuries of the players. I will be subscribing after watching this. The only thing I would critic is the length of the video, theres so much good information, but it seems some of it goes over my head. Keep it up, Guy.
Appreciate it! Yea length is tough and was too long. But hey, this is my first one haha! I plan to do other sports also so look out for those. Thanks for subscribing!
Super helpful! Thanks man
Great video! A series about common sports injuries with some examples would be amazing. You always hear about these injuries but never REALLY know whats going on.
This is really interesting man. Please make more
dude you’re awesome i love these videos
Thanks!!
Super cool video idea. Got my subscription. Do more of these!
Working on one about what goes on for nfl concussion protocols and testing now! Behind the scenes in the blue tent 👍
This is the first time coming across your videos but I absolutely found this super fascinating. You hear all these analysts talking about these types of things and not fully understanding what is going on. As a 76ers fan I have a huge interest in this story and just wanted to thank you for explaining things the way you did.
Thanks!! First one of these I've done but I think I've hit on something people find interesting and I'm also passionate about. Hopefully they only get better! This was rushed after I read the news and wanted to get it up quick!
@@BrianSuttererMD Yeah I definitely think you have something here. As a huge sports fan myself I look forward to hearing about things from your perspective in the future!
Very well made video with great information. Thank you!
I will promote this page to all of my friends this is very informational 👌🏾
Thanks!! I do some other stuff on this page that isn't just sports related so don't be surprised to see stuff that maybe isn't as interesting to you. I post other stuff to help provide education and experience to upcoming medical students and doctors. Appreciate the kind words!
Great video! Glad this was in my recommendations, found a new cool channel.
Keep doing these videos I enjoyed it a lot.
Once this channel grows, I think using tools as animations and diagrams would be a great way to help us understand it even more and to add to the entertainment value. Awesome concept. Could really see this channel blow up!
This channel was a great day.
Thanks!
Thank you for making this video. I'm a Big Sixers fan and I always ponder about this
I really like this idea. SUBBED!!
nice analysis, really liked it 👍
I absolutely love this. You're perfect. 100% subscribe with notifications. Keep up the great work, brother!
Thank you so much!
You crushed this, as a kinesiology major i loved this
Got my subscribe doc. This channel will be my go to from here on out when it comes to injuries. Hate listening to analysts telling us noting. I have actually been wondering what’s been going on with Fultz this totally clears it up
This was actually soooooo much help.
Great video bro, definitely make more videos like this!
Thanks! Will try to hit on more promote injuries as they happen. My channel is also about my experiences in medicine with my training and helping educate future students so it won't be purely sports vids if you subscribe. Either way, appreciate the encouragement
this is crazy i enjoyed your latest videos and i wondered if you had a video about markelle and it just so happened to be your first lol
Dude you are awesome thanks for the knowledge keep it up
You're not just a doctor. You're a Legend. Thank you lol
Thanks for shedding some light on this uncommon condition! I remember hearing about this with Markelle! I actually got an unprovoked DVT from venous TOS while running a half marathon- my whole arm swelled up. I had to be on blood thinners to prevent more blood clots until I has a first rib resection. I've heard conservative management is usually successful with neurogenic TOS, like with Markelle Fultz, but usually the rib has to come out with venous TOS.
Dope idea which I'm sure that will translate into some great content... liked and subscribed!
Thanks!
nice one doc. been searching all day!
You bet! Glad it was helpful
Very compelling analysis!
This was good timing!
Haha yeah, jumped on it and recorded after I saw the news drop

Your youtube channel will be famous one day Dr. Brian. From the Philippines
Ok this channel is awesome! Great idea!
Thank you!
Dude your channel will be so huge if you explain every injury to every player in every sport. You made it much more simple to understand than the 76ers did.
Great video! really gave me an understanding of what’s going on
Wow most relevant video I have seen in my suggestions for a very long time
Hope you enjoyed it!
Good content bro. Been looking for something different
I’m taking ortho for the physical therapy assistant program I’m in; thank you for clearing this up! Totally clicked for me! 👍🏼
Awesome video keep up the good work.
already a huge fan keep it up
Thank you!
This is an excellent concept! This will especially be helpful for "strange" injuries that we might see happen or read about concerning professional or collegiate athletes. Perhaps in the future you can begin to incorporate some animation to really help engage visually with your audience. Keep up the good work! 👍🏾
Sir please make a series out of this I would love to watch more content like this! 🙏
Check out my channel! It's devoted to this type of stuff
EXCELLENT educational experience sir! 🇺🇸
Magic fan here! Thanks for breaking down TOS, I didn't know what it was and this video answered a bunch of questions.
You bet!
This is such a cool channel and super creative idea!
Hey man, I wanted to find this video to comment and say thank you so much. My wife (gf at the time) is a former D1 athlete and was experiencing similar symptoms that puzzled doctors at the time. You posted this video pre-pandemic when her symptoms were really bad. I showed her this video back then and she was like “omg that’s what I have.” It took us a while to get referrals to see specialists for such a specific condition based off a CZcams video, but we finally got an appt with a renowned doc in Boston to get treatment. Doc confirmed it was TOS and recommended a relatively simple surgery to release the pec muscle. It’s been a very long and gradual recovery, but she is way better now! Who knows how long she would’ve went without a proper diagnosis had you not posted this video! Can’t thank you enough.
I like the idea of your channel its a really good idea. Two possible suggestions I could have is that you could bring up other possible things that are going wrong. Another thing I would recommend is giving a range of how long the issue will take to resolve. Really good video
Brilliant channel idea. Keep making good videos, maybe talk about famous historical injuries too, rehab tips and stuff, you’ll blow up stupid fast
Good work doctor, thanks for the clear explanation!
You bet, thanks!
This was excellent and really informative. Thanks. Are there more videos coming ?
Just did a general one explaining nfl concussion screening! But yes, many more to come !
