    Thank you, you are the best chalk paint instructor by far. Question: any special instructions for chalk painting a glossy lacquered painted daybed?

    • @OriginallyWorn
      @OriginallyWorn  Před 4 lety

      Thanks!!!! Only thing I would do different is wait 24 hours between the 1st and 2nd coat of paint so the 2nd doesn’t take off the first :) and don’t worry, the first will look bad. Lol

    hey Rachelle. thank you for sharing your ideas. questions: what chemical do you use to clean the chandelier before painting? do i have to prime the chandelier before painting? what is best to use, spray paint or brush paint on the chandelier?

    • @OriginallyWorn
      @OriginallyWorn  Před 5 lety +2

      Wednesday K. Hey! I use vinegar, a bit of dish soap, and hot water to clean with. No need to prime with Annie Sloan paint. Spray paint is really messy - when you use Annie Sloan paint, brush on, no need to uninstall the chandelier.

    Hi Rachelle. First time I watched you. I think you're terrific!! I recently purchased a lacquered brass vanity fixture (in reality much lighter and cheaper looking than in the photos I viewed ;-((. It appears that what you painting here is brass and lacquered as well. What I wondered about was how well the paint REALLY ADHERES to the lacquered finish on the brass since it's glossy smooth. I googled this issue and every place said to somewhat strip the lacquer and/or rough it up. Really time-consuming and to me, not worth it for such a cheap fixture as the one I wish to dress up. THANK AGAIN, Rachelle!

      Hello! Thank you for your kind words! If you use Annie Sloan paint there’s absolutely no need to strip or sand the fixture before hand. I have done extremely slick surfaces including porcelain tiles and multiple fixtures like this and they have never had an issue. You just need to make sure to use the right products.

    Great tutorial! I am curious about the cord and chain. Will they both take in the chalk paint and will it flake in time without sealing as you planned here?

    • @OriginallyWorn
      @OriginallyWorn  Před 3 lety

      Thanks! I don’t believe it will flake, or really peel off, although nothing is impossible. I don’t believe a chain actually gets much wear, this one is still hanging in my shop and looks the same as the day I did it and I never sealed it. ❤️

    I was really interested in hearing how you did this with chalk paint but the volume was a little too low. I have found this on several videos where the volumes are too low so maybe your next when you can up your volume because I really would have liked to heard what you were saying. Good job on your chandelier

    What kind of brush did you use?

    • @OriginallyWorn
      @OriginallyWorn  Před 6 lety

      Gray Gray the round brush is an Annie Sloan natural bristle round brush and the flat one is an annie Sloan flat synthetic bristle brush. You can get them both at www.originallywornonline.com or your local Annie Sloan stockist.
