    Why did i get fingerprint marks on my chairs even though I used clear wax and how do I get rid of them?

    • @OriginallyWorn
      @OriginallyWorn Před 3 dny

      There could be a variety of reasons. You may have too much wax/too thick of a layer. You can take wax off by taking mineral spirits and a rag and wiping with it. That will help you get back to the paint layer (but won’t damage the paint) and you can re-wax if needed with a thinner layer. Other possible situation is that the wax simply isn’t cured yet. Depending on temps, how thick it is and what color it is waxed over it could easily take a month to cure. Whether it is because of time or thickness once wax is cured it really doesn’t typically show finger prints (worse on dark colors though). Hope this helps ❤️

      Thank you very much! I love both milk and chalk paint! Both have a place in the decorative painting world and diy world, depending on the finish you want to achieve. And yes, over the years, this channel has been all sorts of things and types of videos, just as life, it ebbs and flows. Hopefully I will be able to find some time to sneak away and paint some pieces again, and make videos while doing it. ❤️❤️❤️

    My kitchen has one odd faux red brick wall, probably hiding some kind of past damage, so i just painted it white along with the other walls and it actually looked good. It made it a point of interest as i put open shelving there. I never thought of chalk paint but it's a great solution to fix that clashing tile.

    I am wondering about using diluted black spit over that orange oak chairs and table top. I would have to have to sand the chairs all the way down. Do you think I could spray shellac on it to give the wood something for the spit to hold on to???

    • @OriginallyWorn
      @OriginallyWorn Před měsícem

      Honestly I haven’t played around with it enough to give you an answer. I would not think that would work, but heck, try it on a scrap piece of wood or the underside of the chair first and see what it does 🤷‍♀️ good luck with them! ❤️

    Thanks for the great instructional video, I can’t wait to get started! Do you have a link to the Annie Sloan paint you reference that you used instead of primer? Is there a reason to use chalk paint instead of primer as your first coat? Will you be bringing you blog back online, looks like it’s down right now :(

    • @OriginallyWorn
      @OriginallyWorn Před měsícem

      Hello! I hope this video has helped! As for Annie Sloan paint, I would suggest to check out their website (www.anniesloan.com/) and see if you have a Stockist near by. Most of the stores are trained very well in paint and it’s fun to see it all in person. But the reason I chose it in this project was to be able to paint without sanding. And technically you can do that with the other primer I showed, and I have done that too, I just love Annie Sloan paints. If you do use a traditional primer make sure you use a no sand/high adhesion one like Zinner 123. As for the blog, I honestly don’t know. I am working on redesigning it all, but not sure what will stay or not. But it helps to know you noticed ❤️

    Watching this video for the first time as of May 2024. You did a wonderful job and it looks beautiful, but the process involves too steps for me personally! Being this is 2024, I am hoping there is another process with much fewer steps on CZcams. ❤😊

    • @OriginallyWorn
      @OriginallyWorn Před 2 měsíci

      Thank you so much! It certainly is a big process and not one of my favorites! I don’t know of another method, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t :) you could also check into surfprepsanding.com/ get one of their formable sanders and go the traditional route. If I were to do this kitchen again, I would consider that route.

    • @OriginallyWorn
      @OriginallyWorn Před 2 měsíci

      You can paint Annie Sloan paint over Annie Sloan wax. I like to try to take off as much of the wax as possible, or let it cure for a couple weeks. If you would like to take off any excess wax, use mineral spirits and wipe it off. Then paint.

    I have a coffee table thst i used blue chalk paint. I used lacquer to seal the paint but soon a yellow color started coming through. It may have had an oil based paint originally. Now I want to use another color on my table. Should I use a stain blocker before I paint on the new color to take care of the yellow that previously came through the blue color that I first painted it with? What kind of stain blocker would you suggest? Thank you so much!

    • @OriginallyWorn
      @OriginallyWorn Před 3 měsíci

      Hello! That does sound exactly like the tannins or stains coming through. Sometimes lacquer itself can pull them through the paint. Although the layer of lacquer may stop it from happening again. So you may be fine to paint again or you could put a layer of shellac on or a layer of stain blocking primer. I like kilz or bulls eye 123. Hope that helps :)
