- Let's say that you're studying multiple decks and you want to take a break from one of them for a few days. In this tutorial, I show you how to suspend a whole deck while leaving the other decks unsuspended.

Something to take note of, this essentially turns the deck off by making Anki not give you any new or review cards from the deck. They're suspended. In terms of review cards though, when unsuspended, Anki will see their due date and give you ALL of the cards that are now past due on the day you unsuspend them.
For example: If you have a large deck where the most mature cards have a 8 month interval and the least mature cards have a 2 month interval, then suspend the deck and wait a year before coming back to it as a refresher, Anki will report ALL the cards in the deck as past due and say you need to review ALL of them now! In order to no get bogged down in reviews for this deck, you should adjust the number reviews/day allowed by this deck to a manageable number.
There currently is NO addon that tries to "pause" a card by remembering the day you chose to suspend it. Unsuspending the card does NOT calculate the time between suspension date and due date in order to adjust the due date to be an offset from today.
Thanks for this info! Note taken. I'm glad I will now know to ignore the jumpscare of having hundreds of cards due all at once haha
@@mountainsarepretty I'm actually considering making my own addon that does what I described in the last paragraph. The idea being that one doesn't have to worry about changing the suspended deck's settings but they still get the deck as a refresher over the coming weeks.
It turns out that making addons for Anki is pretty easy. It's in Python which is really easy to learn and write something quick. Documentation though appears to be pretty bare bones as it's mostly just a small code example with a title.
@@zecuse please let me know if you make this addon. I'm trying to "pause" review cards during days I take FLs for MCAT studying. I typically have 850 review cards a day and don't want to do a FL and cards
thanks for the note
