Mike refused to play for anyone else, dennis considered him a father figure. Really speaks volumes about the guy
Let me provide some post-script. Jordon never won an NBA title without Phil.
@OIP ! Why was Jordon a perennial loser until he had Pippen?
No one is calling Jordon a loser, but it's worth noting that Jordon lost year after year before Pippen.
@OIP ! Neither me nor Jordon won a ring without Pippen. I guess I'm the GOAT, too.
@OIP ! I guess Pippen is the goat, too.
"My mother was probably the most competitive person I've ever known or coached."
Coming from the dude who coached MJ, all I'm saying is big Phil's mother must have been a BEAST.
That is when It became personal.
You think that she's competitive, I'll prove that she's not !

@@ShringarKashyap Ok, fine !
Mother
Jackson
😂😂😂 bi was a beast.
Phil Jackson, as a coach, won 11 NBA Titles, and two as a player. So... He's got 13 rings. Damn.
@Kenneth Erickson doesnt matter
@Kenneth Erickson He was still on those Knicks teams and still did the work in practices and games. He deserves it just as much as anyone else.

Kenneth Erickson si, ahora. Recuerdo
@Kenneth Erickson 👍
One of the greatest coaches to ever grace the league, or any sport for that matter.
I agree with you Ray!! 👍🏀👍💖💯👍
Ray Petree yes
number one is Larry Brown.
As Belichick says even great players cant overcome bad coaching
One of?
He won 2 more titles after this speech LOL
Absolute legend.
@MANCHESTER UNITED there's not 240 countries 😭😂😂 if u wanna argue about sports go piss off
@MANCHESTER UNITED F.C so?

@MANCHESTER UNITED F.C soccer sucks
Greatest coach of all time. Thanks Phil, for sharing with us all these championships and emotions as a fans.
Phil Jackson played/coached for 3 big cities, New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
"who could have been more fortunate than I was to have stumbled iinto this kind of success" - hats off, dude.
This man took 13 teams to the NBA finals
SgtPepper25 and won
Nope 2002 was league assisted. Sacramento won
He was injured when the NY Knicks went he got his first ring
Could of had three three peats!
@@psnpanuch8142 he has 1 three peat and 1 six peat. So formally 3 three peats.
Anyone else binge watching these speeches? I've watched a dozen or so these past couple days. My favorite part for Phil's speech was that you could tell how much he loves that poem, the fact his son wrote it and that it meant a great deal to him.

He can still help you... Send him a message through WhatsApp with the number I gave to you
He can help you solve your problem, he helped me bring my ex-lover back
A modest speech for a coach that achieved so much. Legend
Big dogs don’t need to bark loudly. If at all.
When the Zen master talks, everybody listens. No clapping, no interruptions. They are just there to absorb all the knowledge...
Phil Jackson one of the best of all times, God blessed this man in many ways.
Phil Jackson is a living legend!
I have a Mentor that resembles this mans leadership . These are leaders you are loyal to no matter where they go . A friend , mentor and father figure .🙌🏿❣
Greatest coach of all time, thank you for everything Phil
Phil is so chill, I love it
He just exudes self-confidence in everything he does; literally in every step he takes, and every word he says.
That's what made him the coach he was and why any team even close to thinking they could contend should do anything to try and bring him out of retirement.
He's, simply, a fucking BOSS, in modern parlance.
What an amazing speaker, what a great speech. 10/10
I believe he's the greatest NBA coach of all time. Pop was incredible and didn't have stacked teams, but Jackson got 3x threepeats, AND 1x repeat, 11 rings spanning 1991-2010. That's incredible, Jordan & Shaq & Kobe or not.
Shaq and Kobe hated each other at that time, and Dennis Rodman. Only Phil Jackson could win 3 straight with each of those situations.
It is amazing how very well spoken he is ! That's why athletes should read books instead of spending time on the social media:)
They didn't call him the zen master for nothing. He used to give his players books to read.
He won 11 championships in 20 years. Let that sink in.
Greatest Coach of All Time coached the Greatest Players of All Time!
Coach Phil had changed the game together with Tex Winter .. the basketball players, coaches and fans all over the world should be grateful for this man because he is not only a basketball genius but he proved that he can be the coach for different types of players that are not easy to handle like Dennis Rodman, Michael Jordan, Shaq and Kobe .. it's not easy but he made it look easy .. because of him we are watching Steve Kerr as a great coach .. thank you coach Phil ..
Nothing against the other top coaches In the league; but none has done what Phil, has done! He is by far my favorite coach!! What a great speech!! 👍🏀💯🏀👍💖
After this HOF speech the Lakers came back to dominance
2 more rings after this speech!!
Dennis Leavitt forgot about kukoc
How is here because of the "last dance"?
Phil is that cool uncle we have 👌💯
He took 2 rings as player with Knicks and 11 as coach. That's everything.
Horace Grant ...Philip Douglas Jackson won two championships as a player in 1970 and 1973 with the New York Knickobockers.
@@brucescott4261 d
@@brucescott4261 yeah, you're right! He took 2 chips with the Knicks as a player.
Greatest coach of all time thank you for everything you did for the Lakers The Zen Master Phil Jackson you are always a legend in the game of basketball. You definitely deserve a statue outside of the Staples Center.

@@_Faisal_ Yea! Mou is great.
Finally, someone who watches sports
Phil, Ferguson, Belichick are the 3 best
only phil would read a poem at his hall of fame speech
Kobe and Phil had their differences but that made them even closer to each other and made their bond more like a father and son relationship.
The GOAT coach for me, he's just so intelligent with the game of basketball, the only coach that could handle kobe and shaq and jordan's extreme competitiveness
undefined brilliance --- any sport, any city, any state, any country, any planet ... as a Human as well !!!
The best motivator in sports
The hippest of all hippies. Phil Jackson aka Zen Master.
My Dad sat next to Phil on a flight once. Dad said they talked about playing independent basketball in North Dakota, which they both did but at different times.
One of the greatest coaches ever! 👍🏻
The Zen Master Phil Jackson thank you for everything you did for the Lakers you were absolutely a major huge role of helping the Lakers win those five championships with the Lakers. God bless you The Zen Master thank you everything for brought to the game of basketball and of the Lakers franchise I absolutely wish I could meet you someday. Phil Jackson you absolutely most definitely deserves a statue of yourself outside of the Staples Center no question about it. Phil Jackson you are the greatest coach of all time hands down you have eleven championships and 3 three peats which is absolutely amazing Phil Jackson you never ever be forgotten you always be a legend in the game of basketball.
As a lifelong Lakers fan I want to thank Coach Jackson for everything he gave to the team. That was a very special time.
Thanks phil for 6 of them..from chicago
1:28 Piratas de Quebradillas y Gallitos de Isabela, Basketball from Puerto Rico! Thanks for mention them!
hey boriqua baby, i didn't know PJ coached in Puerto Rico thats whats up 😉

PJ is the guy. The greatest coach ever.
I like that he thanked and appreciated both Jerry’s
It's so funny, ppl say Phil won because he had superstars... but WAIT!!! check out how his superstars fare WITHOUT his guidance: MJ 0/7, Pip 0/8, Kobe 0/8, Shaq 1/14. That's freaking 1 title in 36 years of these superstars career. IN ADDITION:
0 finals MVPs in 36 years!! ZERO! From the above facts, it's arguable that MJ, Kobe, would just be another Allen Iverson WITHOUT Phil Jackson's coaching. None of these megastars proved that they could win as an alpha male without PJ.
Obsidian Green Plus, the lone title-winner without an attendant Phil Jackson in Shaq also won under another ring-collector without him in Pat Riley--another Hall of Fame coach that some would almost venture to lump in the same league as Phil Jackson.
All the superstars--Michael Jordan, Shaq, Kobe, and so on--still will dominate on an individual without a great coach, as the genesis of their production stems from their self-ability; however, when it pertains to WINNING, very few titles have been won without a Hall of Fame-candidate coach at the helm--even when the players are led by a superstar.
Good coaches oftentimes are needed for the role-players--the bevy of players who aren't naturally adept at shot-creating and playmaking--to overachieve, as they're the ones who will give them a defined role, not the superstars; that role-player production is oftentimes what superstars need to get over the hump, and many role-players PEAKING under Phil Jackson is a testament to that.
So true O.G., so true! No coach is as fabulous nor as magnificent as Phil!! He is by far my favorite coach!! 👍🏀👍💖
They succeeded with Phil and he did help but they would’ve been stars without him maybe not to the extent but still super stars and you said that like AI isn’t an all time great he just never had the strong enough team to compete for a ring
Good points, however, Phil coached all four superstars during their primes. A lot of those 36 years you have counted, probably shouldn't count.
Yeah he is a great coach. You have to have talent to win. "There are two types of coaches; coaches with great players and ex coaches" as Geno Auriemma said.
His teams rarely underachieved. 2004 and 2011 I believe are the only years he lost in the playoffs with homecourt advantage.
he was the assistant in chicago before he became a headcoach...he put in the triangle offense and the bulls suddenly were the shit and beat all the teams that use to beat them such as the pistons
This man assembled and built superstars
The winningest coach in NBA history!
Thank you Phil.
Philthy Phil is a straight up G. All his critics need to shut it... Mike Brown, Rudy T, Mike Dunleavy, Del Harris, Doug Collins ALL proved his worth.
Legend.
Phil. You. ARE one. Top. Greatest. MUCH appreciated. And. Respect for you and your family. Phil. That Brilliant. You. Into. HALL OF FAME. MUCH appreciated TO you and your family. Phil
Should have mentioned Toni as well when he was speaking about the second 3peat for the Bulls. But still my admiration is his.
13 Times NBA Champion.
Phil Jackson looks like a cool guy
i wish guys like phil jackson and jerry west stayed lakers forever.
Best coach ever
Thank you master have a blessing life with you all family
AMBASSADOR AND COACH ALL ROLLED INTO ONE.
He didnt mentioned Toni Kukoc...the same happened in the last dance..not enought prize..Toni had great impact in the last 3 championships...
And Horace Grant..?
not only he didnt mention him, he mentioned instead Kerr and Bueschler who were, to be true, just putting the numbers for the team. Really dont get it, so disrespectful for Toni
Tony didn’t have that great of an impact on the last three ships... Tony could score and brought a lot of talent to the table yes, but Phil and Tony’s teammates constantly got on him about his lack of defense. What impacted the last three ships was Michael Jordan’s return no tony kukoc. Tony didn’t even start when Mj returned he came off the bench. He isn’t downplayed or anything but he wasn’t the cause of the biggest impact on those last three rings. They had MJ and Pippen all they needed was Rodman. Rodman (outside of Michael Jordan) was what impacted that three peat run. Because the bulls lost Horace grant and needed a defensive stopper and rebounder.
@@pigeonsportsgamingcoleman2807he mentions and praises Jud Buechler but not Toni? and you are wrong, Toni hade great impact in the last 3 championships...watch again the key games against indiana, seattle...
Aleksandar Stefanovski okay I’ll check it out. Thanks for the feedback.
7:58 no Horace grant?
How I wish I could go back to 2007

Actually Phil wanted to trade Kobe on 3 occasions. He wanted to trade Kobe for Tracy McGrady or Kidd and Shaun Marion. The Busses didn't want anything to do with it.
