    I am a practising social worker in the UK. This is my practical guide to completing assessments under the Care Act 2014.
    Hopefully, this will provide a starting point for people wanting to understand more about social work assessments. If you are a student this may help with your confidence when starting out with work-based placements to think about what's involved.

    Information, advice and guidance at its best. Accessing the funding is really important to ensure the care plan is fully implemented. What are the various routes to receiving the funding plesse

      Thank you ! In the UK local authorities will contribute towards care costs if someone has savings below £23,250. Capital tied up in property can impact on this if a 24 hour placement is needed. If someone has a primary healthcare need the NHS may find care via continuing healthcare funding.

  • @kimberleyladybugloveboutiq4888

    Hi Kayleigh, our assessments look different to yours. Sounds very similar, but i think ours could be improved!

    Hi Kayleigh, I'm not sure if you had made a video on undertaking initial assessment for children, would it be possible to discuss about this and how they differ from adult assessment? I've had my placement with adults but now having one with children. Thank you!

    Thank you so much. Really useful..just to clarify, if service user refuses an assessment, how you work around that ? So if someone has the mental capacity but don't want assessment, what can be done?

    • @KayleighRoseEvans
      @KayleighRoseEvans  Před 2 lety +4

      Hey, if someone refuses an assessment you need to respect their decision in line with people's rights to decline the assessment and requirement for consent. However, if you do feel the person is at risk you may need to consider wider factors around risk and act accordingly. If you feel the person really needs the assessment you could find out why they are declining this and see if you can use social work skills to gain rapport with them and possibly involve others that they trust as part of this. There's lots to consider with this ! Thanks Kayleigh 😊

    This is very useful. Would you do the care assessment , support plan and carer assessment in one visit or contact the family over a period of time to get the information required?

    • @KayleighRoseEvans
      @KayleighRoseEvans  Před rokem +1

      Hi I think that totally depends on how it seems on the visit. Sometimes I end up doing them all together if multiple people need support (i.e the person and their carer). However, other times its better to do it a different time. It's useful to think about ensuring all involved feel free to speak so sometimes it's necessary to do them on a 1:1 basis with the person the assessment relates to.

    hello. Just wondering which law assessments for adults came under, before the care act 2014 came into place? :)

    • @KayleighRoseEvans
      @KayleighRoseEvans  Před 9 měsíci

      Hi here is a link to a site which lists the legislation applied pre Care Act - www.peoplefirstinfo.org.uk/money-and-legal/legal/community-care-legislation/
      I actually started practice just as the Act came in and this consolidated the previous legislation, putting it into one place.

  • @sakshambansal7383

    Hey there! I have applied to University of Sheffield and Strathclyde for Master's in Social Work program, could you recommend which one is best for Social Work studies?

    • @KayleighRoseEvans
      @KayleighRoseEvans  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi I couldn't recommend a particular one but it may be worth looking at what past students at the unis say if you get a chance to speak to people or look at how they rank online. However, I would say how supportive they are with finding a placement is an important question to ask.
