This is a-GREAT-documentary on Milestone comics,I remember when these lines of comics first came out-I was floored. LOL. I bought Icon,Hardware,Static and Blood Syndicate,killer line-up.I read about the formation of Milestone comics from an article interview in-TIME-magazine,couldn't believe there were brand new,black super-heroes in their own titles,not made by Marvel or DC comics.Ivan Velez Jr caught it a 100 tho,very honest about his feelings on the industry and calling his time working for Marvel traumatic is unsettling,but,his honest opinion.
@@witsendpodThanks for doing that-GREAT-documentary on Milestone comics,I learned so much more about Milestone Media,they only lasted 4 yrs,but,still broke new grounds as far as promoting diversity in the comics medium. It's just TOO bad the revamped Milestone comics didn't sell very well in today's market. I'll continue to put some-RESPECT-on Milestone's name for the rest of my life. LOL.
Excellent doc. I remember losing intrest in comics for a while and milestone and wildstorm got me back iinto it. Milestone tackled a lot issues while, atleast to me, not coming off preachy.
Ivan Velez Jr's comments made me cry a little. He was just as important among the Milestone creators, and yet he doesn't see any residuals for those compendiums or if his characters are ever used. It's heartbreaking.
I didn't realize all the backstory to this, particularly the police bombing a Black encampment in 1985. That's horrible! But this was a great documentary. Thanks for posting this.
The Milestone Imprint To DC Was Kinda Similar to Cartoon Network's Cartoon Theatre after all cult classics like Balto, Cats Don't Dance, The Iron Giant, An American Tail and even Rover Dangerfield were some of the highest rated broadcasts on that block and Milestone a completely different thing was the same but with Black, Latino, and Asian Superheroes and Villians

It's disheartening but appreciated that he spoke about it publicly. A well-rounded view mixing the ups and downs of working in mainstream comics.

Their storytelling is very grounded, even while covering super-people.
