    Every year or so, I come back to watch this video and I always wonder, what would Dwayne think about today's Marvel comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe? It's 2019 and you may be gone but you're not forgotten, Mr. McDuffie.

    This is an incredible time for black independent creators outside of Marvel and DC. They include Shawn James' SJS Direct (John Haynes, Isis, E'steem), Tuskegee Heirs, Raymond Leonard's Agent Solo, The Antagonists and Mega Woman by Godhood Comics, Konkret Comics (Akolyte, Absolver, Watchman, Odina, Kandake, Tenoch God Of Fire, Organic Chrissy), Black Sands The Seven Kingdoms, Crescent City Monsters, The Maroon by Owl Eye Comics, and Rise Of The Djinn with Kevin Grevioux. Milestone Comics definitely left its mark on the industry by inspiring all of these black creators.

    I've been learning more about the late Dwayne McDuffie these past few days. Shame on me that I'm only discovering the impact he had on the comic book medium after he died. In any case, thanks for putting these videos up, blackherodoc. Dwayne McDuffie, RIP.

      Joseph Kerr I feel your pain. I didn't start my milestone comics until 2008 when I found a bundle of them for sale for 15 bucks I think about almost 20 to 30 comic books in a little white town in Ohio. To me they are priceless and a testament of the Wayne McDuffie's Hardwork.

    You're missing the point. The reason why companies, like Milestone Media, were established is because black representation in comics was weak. What's the diffence between that and a person from Asian descent creating Manga?

I just wished you did not use the cringy Lil paw wow static shock song the tune from the first season was so much better and then the executive came and ruined a great show :/

  • @faceduro6719
    @faceduro6719 Před 3 lety +1

    DC is planning on a Black Superman but in my opinion there's only one Black Superhero that can be Superman and that's "ICON"....
    I feel like changing direction to the source material is a bad idea, if they want to bring a Black Superhero to the movies to represent the Black Lives Matter movement I say why not use the Milestone Comics Characters and put it to good use especially Icon and Static Shock which both are more than qualified to identify than changing Clark Kent into a Black Character...

    • @Ludo045
      @Ludo045 Před 2 lety +1

      Well, Dwayne point is more about bringing new character instead of changing source material, but the thing is regardless if one bring new characters there is that "rule of 3" as said in video, so new characters or not, it'll label as "black comics".
      Comics are a white male power fantasy since they're the prime target audience.. BLM and stuff, they dont need nor want that.

    I miss McDuffie and all that but when he starts talking about the indie movement I have to disagree. He had industry connections and he didn't use them for anything but Milestone. The indie scene back then was home to some great comic minds and he refused to work with them.

    To the brothers out there wanting to start their own Brand or company its very important to understand law. If u call your brand or company a "black" business when it gains success the europeans will both take over and destroy it like they did milestone. Black in legal terminology means civilitur mortus aka dead in law cont.

    Cont.3 look up the moorish proclamation by RAHM EMMANUEL (former chief of staff for obama now mayor of chicago). In that proclamation it tells us who "black" people r in a nutshell where we came from and how we never came on slave ships. Also look up a brother by the name TAJ TARIK BEY. The man is very insightful in terms of law,history,being moorish, and how they all go hand in hand

  • @robinlue2008
    @robinlue2008 Před 11 lety +3

    Cont.2 which is y the europeans can get away with the things that they do. Same thing with us saying we r colored. In blacks law dictionary colored person means not real. We r not negro black or colored. WE R MOORISH. Call your business a moorish business correct your name status since its european and declare your nationality. For more info on being moorish cont.

    The character of Icon is essentially a Superman-level being. Yet he not only submits to allow his adoptive mother and the other African people to remain as slaves, he himself remains a slave. This is really shocking when you think about it. And it either says a lot about the character's psyche or McDuffy's.
