    When my German Shepherd would get them, I would drain them with an insulin syringe, apply Panalog ointment, and wrap with a piece of gauze and vetwrap. They always healed up in a few days.

    Thank you for the information. My elderly dachshund pretzel is 18. He was diagnosed with OCD about 7 years ago when his sister died. He licks the floor a lot and also licks his paws a lot. I noticed a lump on his right paw. I touched it and clear fluid along with a little bit of pus came out. I immediately treated it with some epsom salt saline solution and bandaged it up after i discharged it. Hes not too thrilled about having a wrap on his foot to prevent licking. I will try these steps in this video and see where it goes.

  • @wideawake8415
    @wideawake8415 Před 5 měsíci +3

    I have a pit/boxer mix. She developed these cyst on all 4 of her paws. Eventually infection n one. I was terrified she could possibly face amputation. A vet claimed to look at it on a glass slide and said it was a fungal. She put my dog on 2 meds 1 that was a antibiotic 1,000 milligram a day. It just hasn't helped. I fed my dog "commercial" organic dog food. I tried anti microbial, fungal and bacterial shampoo and spray. However this also removes the beneficial. Nothing was working. I decided to wipe her slate clean. She's now fed raw to slightly cooked meat, fruit and veg diet, only safe fruits and veggies as some can b toxic. And all organic non GMO. Half and half distilled water and mineral water. She gets organic non GMO unrefined cold pressed coconut oil which she loves for treat. Now her feet r healing quickly and her fur is beginning to grow back. I will never feed my dog commercial pet food again as they contain chemicals, synthetic vitamins due to the natural vitamins cooked out of it and Carragegon, a carcinogen that causes cancer. Before she hesitated to eat her kibble and can food. Now with her raw to near raw, non GMO pure organic, she dances wildly wanting her food while I prepare it. I never give her food to her cold either rather slightly warm. Cold is hard on the stomach and digestion. She's 10 yrs old and I feel I failed her good health feeding her commercial pet food. Now common sense is they r carnivorous and eat raw, warm kills. She's now back to alertness, playful and happier. I highly suggest listening to Dr. Judy Morgan a vet who's sent n samples of commercial pet foods for testing as she was seeing a sudden rise n pet deaths. I'm convinced my dogs food was toxic. Nefarious things r being done to our food, as well as baby food and all other foods. Research brings many truths. The raw diet applys for kitty's to. I will try the Epsom salt bath on her feet due to the magnesium and hopefully this will help with the scaring. Ty for your added information.

    My Lhasa apso mix has this problem several times every year. She gets the infection by walking on dirty field such as sheep/caws urination/poo , now I wash her paws(only front) in baking soda warm water to prevent. Also she licks her paws when she has a small hair ball in sole of her paws between the fingers. That hair ball problem also losened in the warm baking soda water and easily cut off.

    What about huskies? My husky has a large cyst coming off of one toe. It’s pink with dark red spots. Almost like webbing with dark spots coming through. I would rush him to the vet but we’re having a hard time right now and can’t afford it, we honestly can’t even afford the gas to get there. No, I will not give him up because of being broke for a small amount of time. Um sorry about that… anyway my point was he’s a husky, he won’t let me touch his paws. 😂

Not to mention, not knowing while you wait for said vet appt is frustrating and stressful. I don't wanna walk in blindly when I can be educated myself. I know I can probably wait a few days but I'd rather not since I myself am not 100% sure what is wrong.

    can someone tell me is it better to cut the hair in-between the pads, will that limit the infections? our dog lost her left hind leg in April this year because the infection kept getting worse and our dermatologist at Penn kept changing antibiotics and such and I feel he waited to long and caused this problem. She had a nocardia infection and is still on antibiotics for it. Then she was placed on TMZ and had an allergic reaction to the med and lost almost all of her hair. She looked like a burn victim. She has not regrown all the hair so now we call her freckles. It's been the most trying 6 months.

    This is not true for an inherited problem. I have a Weimaraner that has been treated with so many antibiotics that now there will be no more available once the bacteria becomes immune to his latest drug- Marboquin. His sire was put to sleep with this problem but I went ahead and used his frozen semen. I love my dog who is now 3 yrs old but it cost $600 a month for this drug. His brother went to Sweden and now has the same problem. I worry about all those that can't afford to pay for the correct drugs. He has been to several specialists including a Dermatologist Vet who was no help at all. I'm so thankful I found a Vet at CrestView Animal Hospital in Cumming, Ga. that knew about this problem. This is a generic drug and I know it is bad for him. I give him special things to help protect his liver. No soaks of any type had helped his feet. No shots for allergies helped his feet. With every drug change he has to have a cyst cultured to find which drug the bacteria will respond to. The new drugs on the market- like apoquel (cancer causing) are so much more dangerous than an anti-biotic. I would love for you to do a more in-depth study into this: There are so many breeds that have this problem.

    • @applebz
      @applebz Před 2 lety

      I believed all that told me this was just a simple problem that could be treated by soaks. Otherwise- I would never have used this Sire in a breeding program. He was a beautiful boy. I learned the hard way that this is a terrible inherited problem. I just don't understand why no drug has been discovered that would just kill this disease and not kill your dog at the same time.

    • @kilalamomiji
      @kilalamomiji Před 2 lety +1

      You should not have treated him with anti-biotic medication. Wash paws in a warm baking soda water after they walk in dirty field. It prevents the infection.

    • @applebz
      @applebz Před 2 lety

      @@kilalamomiji That's your opinion. He didn't have just one or two. All feet were infected: cysts between every toe and on his mouth. He wasn't allowed to even go outside and when he was- he wore boots or socks. Even the beach soaks didn't work. I tried everything even your suggestion: Even baking soda on the carpets. Sorry but he has been given a better life for how long no one knows. I know antibiotics are not good for a long period of time but I am not willing to let him suffer if I can help it. He couldn't even walk. Now he is happy and I am glad I have a vet that is willing to work with me. If you do not have these cysts cultured then you are guessing. All should get Dr J. Dodds DNA TESTS for allergies too.
