I explain the key roadblock the team faced for the past 2 years, and how one new member got us across the finish line. Article Version: www.amigalove.com/viewtopic.p...

    • @AmigaLove
      @AmigaLove  Před 2 lety

      Thanks, Doug. And I imagine it should work with your vampire if you can get all that to fit in there. They cost ~$150 in parts at the moment. I bet you have a pile of Agnus chips. The hardest thing to find seems to be (if you want the 2MB version) the proper A3000 Agnus and the RAM. I know some folks have had to use more than one parts supplier to get all of the other little doodads. My new board is sans video port and sans RTC (no need for either). Keep in mind, there may be an update in the first half of 2022 that'll allow for much more plentiful 2mb Agnus chips, a coin cell battery replacements and potentially some other upgrades. To infinity, and beyond! ;) Merry Christmas, Doug. Hope you're doing well down in AZ.

    I assembled the rejuvenator and I am very grateful and happy about it !!! It really works perfectly! I only have to make one comment, namely the wrong values are given on C21 and C30, with which the clock does not run. A 0.1uf capacitor belongs on C21 and a 20pf capacitor on C30, both 10uf.

    • @AmigaLove
      @AmigaLove  Před 2 lety

      Thank you for this information. I'm not using the clock on my Rejuvenator - I use a Parceiro for that. Thanks for this, though. I will pass it along. Cheers!

      @AmigaLove  Před 2 lety

      @Robert Schlämmer I sent your comments to Joe. Here is what he said: "Thank you so much for letting me know the issue. These capacitors were omitted from the BOM completely. The schematics had default placeholder values. I’ve updated the BOM. The schematics will update in time, I’m working with some issues after the KiCad 6 upgrade.
      "But I think the fella mixed his positions, .1uF should be on C30 and 20pf should be on C21. The circuit is nearly identical to the A500’s memory/RTC upgrade card."

      Is there actually also a Gerber file for the small circuit board for the video slot?

    • @AmigaLove
      @AmigaLove  Před 2 lety

      @@BigRob203 No, the video slot used cards from back in the day. At least, that's all it is good for these days (like, the A2000 flicker fixer, for example). But I've heard murmurs of people trying to exploit that connection for more modern applications. I've never used it myself.

    Your A1000 and A1080 have both been blessed with rare boingball badges. Are they original?

    • @AmigaLove
      @AmigaLove  Před 2 lety +1

      The boing ball badges are indeed original in the sense the badges are original. I removed the checkmarks and applied the badges very carefully in honor of Dave Needle. I know everybody’s into fifth edition these days or well beyond (My brother plays Monte games) but it’s hard for me to let go of the classics even if they can be my numbingly tedious at times just to get anything done during a campaign! :D I also really love the TSR/Tolkien inspired art from the times. @@Breeffeehey Hi Lou - that all depends on the community taking what's now out there and running with it. I know more than one person has taken the work and started to expand upon it (making it easier to use different more common Agnus chips, for example). Updating the limited video port to future advancements seems very realistic of a goal, too. I personally have no desire to go down that road - I love it just the way it is - but I guarantee there will be more innovation around the Rejuvenator now that all mysteries of the original board have been unlocked and shared.

    I bought my stock Amiga back in 1986 and almost sold it in 1992 due to loosing my job and couldn't afford to pay my rent and utilities but something inside of me told to me hang onto to this dear machine, my heart said no my pockets were trying to say yes. now its been 37 years and still original owner of my Raw Stock built Amiga. Am a true vintage guy who hates modding machines and this is a truly noninvasive and non-destructive way to bring extra life into the Amiga. I really don't have time to build or chase parts up but if anyone has one built and available I would like to purchase one of them or how to get my hands on one, any tips appreciated.

    • @AmigaLove
      @AmigaLove  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Hey there,
      There is a guy on Amibay who builds these and sells them in batches. You’d have to create an account over there and “learn the culture” of how to declare interest for one, pay the guy, and then wait a while for it to arrive.

Also know that if you decide to go that route the installation is non-trivial. It requires the removal of the motherboard from the case (pretty easy to do as the computer is pretty simple in design) and special 3D-printed guides are required to install the Rejuvenator without damaging things.
      www.amibay.com/threads/rejuvenator-clones-for-amiga-1000-batch-4-available-now-jokersad.2441222/
      Finally, the boards are being sold but you’d need to source the 1mb (easy to find) or 2mb (hard to find) Fat Agnus and associated RAM chips to complete things.
