Well I mean it does make sense considering that Charlie Chaplin did play in a movie called the Great Dictator where he did play Adolf Hitler & he was making him look like a joke.
You have to be wearing a Lupin cosplay under the Hitler costume and remove the Hitler mask like Lupin does to make it clear that you are indeed supposed to be Lupin in disguise.
That would be an awesome idea: you dress up as Hitler but your crew dress up as Lupin's, and as soon as someone recognizes you and says something, you bust out of the first costume saying "Fooled you, didn't I?", revealing you had a whole Lupin the 3rd costume under the nazi uniform (and hiding it on a cool briefcase, since cosplaying is expensive and you can't just throw it all away like the real Lupin)
If had a nickel for every time lupin the third pretended to be Hitler I'd have three nickels Which isn't a lot but it's wierd that it's happened three times

It has the same vibe as Taika Waititi playing a satirized Hitler in Jojo Rabbit. Jokesters revealing who the real clowns are. It's an odd choice for the movie, though, as its considered more sensitive imagery for Western audiences (you don't see him in any WWII superhero films for instance) and they were trying to appeal to them to some degree.
I wouldn't say that. Lord knows how often US media ridicules the SS and Hitler specifically. Also, unlike here, Japan actually has laws preventing certain Nazi imagery. Reminder, Japan was an Axis fascist power during the war, too. You can still get one in your anime, I've seen it, but I don't know how. It probably takes some work.
