The animals are thought to have run approximately 6 miles before being contained by authorities.

News says horses bolted after a construction site had a loud crash of materials. 4 people hospitalized. Supposedly the horse are ok and being veterinarian treated. One horse had a big gash on his head from running into a taxi / bus. I feel worse for the horses. Hopefully all will recover

PLEASE BE THE FIRST TO REPORT *WHY* the horse was soaked in blood?!!!!
British news outlets reported that an incident near Buckingham palace involving five horses from the Household Cavalry which threw their riders during a training exercise and broke away. As a result at least one of the horses (shown here) was injured. In another video one of the horses was shown colliding head on with a stationary bus, shattering the windshield. Police eventually managed to recover all of them, but no information was shared regarding injuries to both riders, horses and civilians at the time this was posted.

Current theory is that they were spooked by cnstruction workers moving cement in Belgravia, near where the guardsmen were conducting mounted exercises.

Horses are high spirited creatures by nature. If they were in training andngot "spooked", then ran, they probably are so confused. All of the tires andvwheels on the cars and and bicycles.

Horses should not be used by soldiers nor fuzz in modern times! I have always thought this since I was young, whenever I saw them being ridden or sat on by military and fuzz.
The poor creatures are often forces to stand still for hours, too. Unnatural for them. Of course animal welfare charities never try to stop it.
Absolutely no need for it now and hasn't been for many decades, except perhaps in fields and woods when searching for someone missing, for instance.

Horses are work animals. They naturally are. They are easily trained and want to work. They are actually perfect to be used by law enforcement, since they are more mobile than cars. And they give out a sense of power, which makes people respect them.
