Hey Roy, I'm so glad you enjoyed Jean de Florette! Astonishing stuff, and a film that makes your blood boil with the injustice. You're in for a treat with Manon des Sources! You've cracked me up talking about Grease. I quite enjoy it to be fair, but I can never get over these mid 30s actors playing 17 year olds. It's the most hilariously insane thing. A few of them look like they're on their second marriage and are tired of their kids, and yet are playing bright eyed and bushy tailed teenagers singing about summer love. It was great to hear you talk about your old friend from work who was also into film, as I had a similar experience in a warehouse I worked in about 12 years ago where there was one chap I got along with great, and we just talked about films all day, every day and it was the best place I ever worked! I remember thinking Blonde Venus was decent, but as you say Dietrich's character is quite dark in that one. Have you watched The Devil is a Woman? One of the most selfish characters from Dietrich in that one, but really good and compelling stuff. (Also fantastic t-shirt!)

Thanks for confirming i've made the right decision never to watch Grease Roy🤣Whistle Down the Wind has been a favourite of mine for many years - i especially enjoy some of the comical lines the boy who plays Hayley Mill's young brother delivers. I'd recommend Tiger Bay[1959], in which Hayley Mills is again involved with a fugitive; her dad John plays the investigating police officer. I've also been enjoying some French films recently - really enjoyed several from the late 60's to mid 70's [considered his best period] directed by Claude Chabrol. Most recent watch was directed by Robert Enrico from 1975 called The Old Gun [Le vieux fusil], which starts out fairly low key but develops into something quite brutal; a bit like a WW2 set Death Wish.👍
Tony trust me avoid Grease. Yes the boy was great in Whistle down the wind and brought some comic relief. I've actually recently blind bought a Claude Chabrol box set in the last arrow sale. I'll have to get on it. So many movies to get through.

That and Manon des Sources are amongst my all time favourite movies. The storytelling, acting and score are perfect. As you enjoyed Jean de Florette, I am certain you will enjoy Manon……And haha, I certainly remember the Top of the Pops days where it seemed like You’re the one that I Want was no. 1 for years. Every week you’d hope there would be a different no.1 but nope, there was the video again. And then years later it was Bryan Adams’ Everything I Do I Do It For You from Robin Hood Prince of Thieves that was no.1 for months.
Yes last week I discovered some greatness. I forgot to mention that the Jean de Florette music has for years been the theme of a beer advert either. Can't remember if it is Stella Artois or Kronenberg though. God yeah them 3 songs dragged for weeks.

Hi Roy, some great watches again this week, Not seen The Omen remake but i do own it, I have the boxset but i will always just watch the original. The Battle of Britain is one i always get bored with, For me its the dog fights, once you have seen the first hour i'm just bored after that lol. I had a good chuckle with that build up to Grease and you just said it was crap . I subbed Neil's channel thanks to you and have been watching a good few video's from him and i have started picking up dvds again, Decided to just pick up classics and i have done a video with the pickups, Mentioned You, James and Neil as you still pick up dvds. will post soon, Thanks mate.

Hi Roy, I agree with you mate, this year is going by so quickly, the Turkey will be in the oven before you know it 😬 great watches mate, with reference to the goggles in Battle Of Britain, that’s why Tom Cruise was also removing his mouth piece in the first Top Gun, so you could see his whole face (recognition is everything in movies) 🧐 I loved Grease, it was one I watched a few times in the cinema in the 70’s and watch it at least once a year, took you a while Roy, I guess it’s one you had to watch on its release to appreciate 🤣 like Flash Gordon (one I disliked) nice one mate, take care👍😃👍

I cheered when you said you didn't like Grease, so many in this community think its the best thing since sliced bread. Its awful, truly the worst musical there is, I'm so glad there are others with great taste who think the same. As always great video, it was reet grand! 👍
@roybarratt5609 one movie that I really love from that decade. Is a kind of loving. I seen the TV series on Yorkshire TV not knowing that it was a movie before this. So I have a soft spot for this. Got the movie on Blu-ray and the TV series on DVD
